I was thinking about going into the Mystic booth at my local salon when the manager stopped me. She knew I was heading on a cruise and she said that the literature warns that streaking will occur if you go in salt water or chlorine with the treatment on your skin. I'm glad she said something because being a streaky zebra is not my idea of a good photo op. I know some people have talked about doing this and just thought I would warn ya.

Yes, streaking can occur. It happened to me. I noticed it about 1/2 way through the week. Fortunately it didn't look bad.

jeez, I guess I can't do this at all--we have a hot tub! But we are getting pool passes and I'll have a couple of weeks to build up before our cruise (and the kids and I all wear SPF 30, except for my calves which don't seem to EVER tan anymore).

I don't think personal hot tubs (meaning ones at home) have chlorine in them.

No, personal hot tubs are treated with Bromine instead of Chlorine. But, maybe Bromine would have the same effect with the Mystic Tan??

Also, I would inject the usual comment. even with these applied tans, you will still need to apply sunscreen! I have been on 5 cruises and have seen far too many lobsters, and a good number of them did have an applied tan, thinking I'm sure that it would protect them. :(

The sun in the Carribean is a great deal stronger than anywhere in the US. Can't overstate the enough. Definitely need spf 30 or higher as well, at 45 I was still getting color.
