Anyone???

I can't find any with 2 queens , except high end ones.

Amerisuites in Mystic-any opinions??

Hampton Inn in Groton? Opinions?

Thanks!

We stayed at the Whaler's Inn in Mystic in November. It wasn't a high end place but it was nice enough. We had 2 queen beds. Breakfast is provided (Hampton Inn style).

There should be the Mystic Hilton. Comfort Inn in Mystic. Have you checked New London, Norwich or Niantic or do you just want to be in either Mystic or Groton

We stayed in the Holiday Inn express in October. I don't remember if it had 2 queens or not but it was very nice and everything was new. This was in Mystic.

How close do you want to be to Mystic?

IMO, Groton is dumpy & I wouldn't stay there. But then it depends on where in Groton you are looking at.

I am about 30 min from Mystic on the shoreline by the CT river and we may be going to the aquarium either next Sat or the Sat after for dd's 1st birthday so I can look if you needed me to (assuming I go).

Have you looked into Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun? They can be pricey though.

There is a hotel off exit 74 (I think) in Niantic. I think there is a motel 6 there & I want to say one other hotel but I am not 100% sure since I only get off there to get the kids McD's.

A little farther down 95 by me there is a town called Old Saybrook (Katherine Hepburn lived & died there) & there is a Comfort Inn (I think that is what it is) & The Saybrook Pointe Inn, but that is pricey but on the LI Sound.

I know on 395 the exit north of Mohegan Sun's casino's exit there are a few hotels but I don't which ones but I know they are fairly new (like 10 years or less old).

I think my parents stayed at the Hilton in Mystic a few years ago & I think they said it was OK.

Where are you coming from? What are you going to do when you are there?

Amerisuites is fairly new and right next to Old Mistick Village and the Aquarium. Mystic Seaport is right down the road.

We stayed at Amerisutes about 2 years ago. Was very nice & I would go there again. They have free breakfast which was really good too

We liked the Amerisuites, but have since outgrown it (4 kids!). Not super cheap, but it had a pool (outdoor, not much good this time of year), included breakfast, and the staff was very friendly. Walking distance to the aquarium and seaport.

In Groton, we now stay in the Super8 right off I-95. Not fancy, but clean and again, includes breakfast. Cheaper than Amerisuites. Groton doesn't have a whole lot of good hotels, and IMHO, the prices are out of line for what you get. But, I grew up there (who you callin' a dump, monorail silver???), still have family in the area, and the Super8 sure beats my sister's house with her 17 cats!

In August we stayed at the Comfort Inn at Groton. I would NOT recommend it. Any of the Disney Value Resorts is heads and tails better than this place.

Thanks ....I think its Amerisuites!

We only have one night to eat there & I want to eat some local fare...seafood...clam chowder..etc....any suggestions???:)

When are you going? The best place for lobster is seasonal. Are you thinking upscale or "clamshack"? Touristy or where the locals hang out?

I live in CT & I had a yummy lobster roll on Saturday night from Lenny & Joe's fishtale in Westbrook (or you can go to Madison but Westbrook is only about 10 min from me & Madison is like 15).

We get them all winter from there. My dh had baked stuff shrimp.

In the late 90's I stayed in a Holiday Inn there with 2 queens. It wasn't that pricey. You should have no problem. Gorsh, I miss that place. *sighs wistfully* I have such nice memories.

Well, the absolute best place for lobster is Abbott's in Noank. In summer, you can sit out on the dock and eat while fighting off the gulls (it's actually nice, but you do have to watch the birds!). they do have indoor seating if thye're open when you go, it's likely to be too cold for outside dining.

My DBIL's favorite place is called the Seahorse, also in Noank (a little fishing village wedged between Mystic and Groton where we-all grew up). Our last time eating there was a bit of a disaster--the short version is, the meal was lovely right up until DD2 threw up on me. 'Nuff said, I can't go back there! I wouldn't recommend Steak Loft (in Mystic Village) or Seamann's Inn (at the seaport), just because they're touristy. Of course, now my mind is blanking on some other good restaurants there--I'll have to ask my sister.

I like the Seahorse...Seamann's Inn....and then the Steak Loft. In that order.

Mystic is a nice area....touristy obviously

I wouldn't call Groton dumpy, it's a Pfizer/EB/Navy area...working class area. Nothing wrong with that.

Also, Mystic Pizza is in Mysic, so you can check that out if you were into the movie. I think their pizza is decent.

I live in the first town over the line in RI and pass over the draw bridge in Mystic twice a day for work. I enjoy seeing the seaport and all of the people in the summer....sucks when you get stuck at the draw bridge though!
