I was thinking about going to Mystic, CT this summer. I know about the seaport and aquarium. Are there any discounts out there for those? What else should I see/do while I'm there? Thanks!

We went to the Mystic Aquarium 2 weeks ago and the kids had a great time. It had lots of great exhibits. I had searched online for any kind of coupons/discounts but wasn't able to find any. My local AAA didn't have any discounts but they suggested I try the CT AAAs---which I didn't do because I don't think any were on the route we were taking. My local library didn't have passes during the weekdays. Hope you find something because it was pricey for admission. We did bring lunches and eat them on the picnic tables outside of the aquarium.

Do you live in CT? My local library has a free pass to the Seaport and discounted passes to the aquarium.

I live in PA, so I don't think the library thing will work for me. We're thinking of spending 3 days there. Thanks!

We went to the aquarium last year and it was okay. Be prepared for a smallish aqurium not like the one in Boston etc. I hve not been to the Seaport in a few years but I do like that. There is a place in Olde Mystic Village called 10 Clams that has all entrees under 10.00. It was not bad. Not GREAT but not bad, If you want to have lobster you can go to Abbots which is a lobster shack on the water. It s a little pricey but pretty good. It is also very close to Moheghan Sun and Foxwoods, while not know for their inexpensive cusine, Foxwoods has a great pizza place and Junior's Restaurant that specializes in FANSASTIC cheesecake and desserts.

We moved out of CT a few years ago, so I don't know if this is still true, but there used to be coupons for the aquarium in the Entertainment book. Can't remember how much off, but enough to be worth it. I think the books are on sale this week too for $10 so it might be worth it.

We always enjoyed eating at Mystic Pizza when we went down. It' nothing real special, but the food is good, and there's lots of pictures from the movie on the walls.

There are a lot of little shops called Mystic Village next to the Aquarium that have interesting stuff.

We try to get to Abbott's Lobster in the Rough every summer. Nice fresh seafood.

Groton is a neighboring city and they have a revolutionary war fort/ state park/ and a monument that can be climbed. (similar to the Washington Monument)

You can take a ferry from New London to Block Island, RI which is a nice little island to explore.

As far as discounts, restaurant.com has several gift certificates that can be purchased for the area.

Enjoy your trip.
