Mystery Woman w/Teddy Bears at Grand Floridian Mystery Solved!!

The Airport in Ottawa, Canada has its own version of the Teddy Bear Lady!

Love that happy ending! :thumbsup2

Haven't met Lynn, but our family has been blessed by strangers often enough to know the good that people like Lynn do. When my older four were little we were often approached by older men or older couples who were reminded of the days when their children were that age. None of them ever overstayed their welcome but rather offered us support, a reminder that these days weren't forever, and to enjoy them while we could. And they clearly appreciated our kids.

When we drove out for my cousin's wedding, eldest daughter got to feeling peakish before we got back. A truck driver at the next table in a restaurant got to chatting with us and noticed she wasn't 100%; he left shortly before we did but met us as we were exiting the building, asking if he could give her a stuffed animal.

He happened to give her a bunny; her favorite stuffed animal, which she'd had nearly since birth, was a bunny, but she hadn't brought it along because she felt she'd outgrown it. She cuddled the new bunny until she got home, then introduced them to each other. :upsidedow For sometime thereafter, she'd tell me about the nice man who wanted to make her feel better and gave her a bunny. :thumbsup2

I have known people with OCD who were frequently frustrated by their own compulsions. But I've also known people who'd been diagnosed with OCD who were perfectly happy with their personal approach to life. I get the impression that Lynn is of the latter type and I hope that is the case. She sounds like a lovely lady. :goodvibes

She's here right now now. I remembered this thread so I'm excited to see her:)

We saw her in December right before Christmas. Had always heard about her and then my sister in law noticed her while we were there. We did not go talk to her, GF was crowded with lots of people taking in the tree, decos and gingerbread house.

We did too but she was with another family so we just waved....

Never met or heard about the woman with the teddy bears until now. I think that is wonderful. Do not know why people have to be so mean about something they don't know anything about. She from what I read so far isn't harming anyone, as a matter of fact she is doing good. She is bringing happiness into some children's lives. How wonderful! I wish her well.

I saw her this past Monday while I waiting for a dinner ADR. She was quite popular - always surrounded by different people.

DD and I saw her on Saturday evening. I wish I'd read this thread beforehand, I would have loved to say hello and visit with her. I think it's lovely that she spends time in such a beautiful place with her memories.

i intro'd myself and our kids to her on our last day in january. she was very pleasant, asked where we were from and wished us safe travels home the next day.

We saw Lynn every day of our recent trip (2nd week of January) to the Grand Floridian. She's a lovely lady and I cannot think of a better place to spend the day then at the Grand Floridian greeting guests and listening to the beautiful music. :lovestruc

We just got back this morning, and saw her only once during our trip! I looked for her every night though, but never had a chance to say hello. Next time I'm going to make sure to say hello to her - esp. after reading through this thread.

We had heard about her and seem her many times at GF. We had never said hello. We went this December and I told my husband (fiancé at the time we were at Disney getting married) about her and that we had to say hello... We went up to her to say hello... We were still in our wedding clothes, and she wasn't all that friendly to us. I'm not trying to say this to get people upset but I was so excited to say hello to her and was sad after that she wasn't friendly to us :(

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to chime in. I saw her a few months ago at the GF. I have to admit, she startled me at first glance. She is kinda pale, almost white, with her make-up. She was the antithesis of stoic for sure. We smiled at her and she looked at us like we were crazy. My mom even tried to talk to her and she couldn't be bothered with us. Very strange deal.

I saw her first at Christmas but didn't know who she was. I just felt bad for her because she looked so lonely. Then I found out who she was on another thread and knew I had to say hello to her this time. So when I saw her on June 30, I said hello and had my daughter say hello to her too. She was so nice and said hello back and smiled! I look forward to seeing her again this Christmas.

*This is NOT your typical "widowed old woman" that I believe people are imagining in their heads.

How boring would this world be, if everyone were "typical"? Besides, how "typical" is it to post on a Disney board and discuss a "Teddy Bear Lady"? I think, quite a few might find it a bit odd. ;)

Lynn,

Thank you for posting about your sister. I had the honor of meeting your sister today and she is an absolute sweetheart. She told me how she calls the bears her babies and she told me that I could call her Teddy Bear. I told her that I love to come for Tea and listen to the band and piano at the GF. I told her that I would come by and say hello in December when we are back down so I could see her babies dressed in their holiday best. She said she looked forward to it.
made my day.

Thank you for the story about your sister. I think I saw her today for the first time since I have made many trips there. I imagine it was her. Had dh not been with me, I would have loved to sit down and chat with her.

:):cloud9::hug::yay:

I personally know the Lynn, she is the sweetest lady you can ever meet. Every time we go to the Grand Floridian Resort I take her a little teddy bear, and a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (it's her favorite). I sit in the lobby with her and we talk for a while. She makes everyone smile. Her sweetness is amazing. She sits in the lobby and talks to people, she is one part of why the Grand Floridian Resort is such a comfortable place to go to. She may look a little different, but if you sit and talk to her you will find her to be a beautiful person. Cannot wait to go see her in 10 days.. See you soon Lynn...:yay:
