TOO FUNNY!!!!
You're right, This is starting to sound like a game of Clue.

I don''t care where it goes, as long at it stops in Tangiers or Tunis!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! :flower3:

Further investigation of the map puts the notations just north of Puerto Rico.
From looking further, there doesn't seem to be anything north of Puerto Rico, so I am not sure what the location of the notes refer to. I tend to agree that what looks like a 173 is really 73 which puts the noted latitude longitude in the middle of the state of New York. Fun...fun...fun.

Hi everyone, I just have to jump in on the fun!

Here are the elements of the page that I feel represent some sort of clue. Maybe we can try to solve each one and then look at everything as a whole.

Compass
Coffee
Scroll
Morse Code (via sound)
Newspaper article
Pens
Medals
Coordinates: 40° 75’N, 73° 99’W
Coordinates: 26° 5’N, 77° 32’W (Castaway Cay)
Map background:

Here is the Morse Code that is on the scroll:

-- .- --. .. -.-. / .- -. -.. / .-- --- -. -.. . .-. / .- .-- .- .. - ... / ... - --- .--. / .-- . / ... .- .. .-.. / - --- -- --- .-. .-. --- .-- / ..-. --- .-. / ..- -. -.-. .... .- .-. - . -.. / .-- .- - . .-. ...

And Here is the translation I worked all morning on:

MAGIC AND WONDER AWAITS stop WE SAIL TOMORROW FOR UNCHARTED WATERS

...Nothing about the Mediterranean. But this sure is fun!!!
How do you explain what I and others have gotten then that is nothing like the message you got? In addition, this message provides no clues at all. I think you spent a lot of wasted time.

The only thing I can think of is that my scroll might look different than yours and that is why I included the morse code and the translation. It is very difficult to do the translation since you can't tell where one letter starts and another stops. So your translation might be different than mine depending on where you thought letters stopped and started. I put the spaces in where it made sense to me...fiddled for an hour or two and then put it into this translater Morse Code Site . Feel free to document how you interpreted the codes.
This is what the word mediterranean would be in morse code and I don't see it on the scroll: -- . -.. .. - . .-. .-. .- -. . .- -.

I pointed out this morning (in one of the earlier posts in this thread back on the first page) that the pens are fountain pens.
The fountain pen was invented in France. I assume that's a clue.

40° 75’N, 73° 99’W are the coordinates of the Port of New York...

does that mean it's going to sail from port canaveral to Castaway Cay and then up the coast to NYC and then across the Atlantic?....
that would be very different from the repo cruises of the other cruise lines...

i've sailed both in and out of NYC and it is very cool indeed......that would be amazing to do it on the Magic....

but getting back to that clue....it looks more like a 173, although i can't figure out what that would mean..

i recorded a message around 4:30pm EST, and it translated to:

"magic awaits. hot lava has gone to the birds."

hinting at the ports?

queen loves pizza = rome?

hot lava = naples?

Where are you all getting these messages (The queen loves pizza, and the Lava/birds) from? well, regardless, "Hot Lava" could be Pompei? The Birds, Capistrano (Italy?)....

Now that they have had 2 different messages in 2 days, do you think they are gonna change the morse code message every 24 hours up until the announcement on the 21st?

Someone has got to commit to pick-up and decipher the daily message for all us DISers!! Any takers?

on the disney cruise website, they have a link to 'mystery at sea'. there is a morse code message as one of the clues (newspaper clip, coffee mug, coins, map). if you click and hold on the ticker tape, it plays the morse code message.

oh, ok... i did not know that the message was changing... how interesting... I actually called a former Army Colonel who works for us to see if he knew Morse code, but, he said "it was before my time" lol...

Ok, on the New York tie-in.... The New Amsterdam Theater opened in 1997. In 2007 they will celebrate their 10th anniversary.

Only thing is that the first show was on November 13, 1997.

Just a thought.

Debbie

no one seems to have mentioned much about the newspaper title. one person said something about the new york time and the hong kong herald. however if you google it one lead is a kingdom news paper. however i do not recognize the flag on the site.

:cool1:

Can you imagine what would happen to traffic on the West Side Highway if the Magic sailed into NYC ..... dead standstill :cool1:

Heh -- ship excursions - could include trips to WOD on Fifth, The Lion King or Beauty & the Beast :goodvibes
