MySpace

It annoys me how the media portrays it as 'dangerous' and tells parents to not let their kids to use it. Sure they use the words 'talk to them about it' but if the parent is under the impression it's dangerous, they'll say 'No.'

I have my profile set on private just because I'm not completely comfortable with people looking at what I write. And I'm on one of my school things, but it's set to the high school I'm going to. Obviously if the students there can read what I wrote and my pictures, they'll know I'm obviously not a student at their school.

you don't have to do any of that. Private profiles are a good idea, sure. add people you know, but there are people on my friends list that I don't know. I'm perfectly safe. My about me tells all about me. My birthday is real. My location is real. I have 40 something pictures all of me.

You have to realize, no perv is going to travel 100s of miles to find YOU because he saw YOU on myspace. Someone like that walks out on the street and kidnaps girls. Its just easier. I have several sex offenders living within 3 miles, and I used to have one living 2 houses away from me. He could see my house through his window.

The most dangerous thing I did for months was not log into myspace, it was checking my mail.

Myspace is perfectly safe.
I agree.

But the girls who did get raped, didn't they have contact with the sex offenders in some way? like they were talking over messages or something?

There comes a point where you have to have two working braincells working at the same time.

I have a strict no pervert rule on the internet. I don't deal with them. I've been approached on message boards (even here) by people who's intentions I questioned. Just don't play with them. Ignore them.

Personaly, i think the girls who were assulted, it was their own fault.
And i dont like how parents and adults just think that myspace is a horrible thing for a few girls stupid mistakes.

::yes:: Tom. Tom rules over all MySpace people.

:worship: TOM

All must bow down to Tom.

lol jk :p yeah, change your pw. good luck! and hope it never happens again! :)

I dislike Tom. He comes off as a...well dis blocks the word I want to use.;) Tom=first person I ever deleted off myspace.

Ahahah.
yeah. That's what I did.
It was probably the first thing I did.

Honestly though, it's as simple as to not talking to people who you don't really trust, or aren't your age. If they have like pictures of them and their friends and they're like 14, yeah whatever. But if like a guy who's like 23 adds you and sends weird messages, don't respond. That would be dumb.

Seriously, like everyone has a MySpace, including Country artists! I looked at: Kenny Chesney's Big & Rich's, Darryl Worley's, and Martina McBride's MySpace. I told my parents that "I won't put ANY info in my MySpace," but they won't listen. :l
