What section of Myrtle Beach would you feel comfortable booking a resort in? We were looking at going next month, and checking on-line they divide the city up into many different areas. Which area is the most family friendly, or is it all good?

What section of Myrtle Beach would you feel comfortable booking a resort in? We were looking at going next month, and checking on-line they divide the city up into many different areas. Which area is the most family friendly, or is it all good?

I don't really think there is a bad section to my knowledge but the more "in the middle" of the strip you get, the more congested traffic will be. North or South of that are both nice areas with nice hotels. Lower area is closer to amusement park, upper area is closer to barefoot landing, etc.

Surfside is great for families. Quiet, not a lot of high rise condo buildings. It's mostly residential. We stayed there a couple years ago and just loved it!!

We've also stayed at North Myrtle but it was about 7 years ago. It used to be more residential, but has progressively gotten more larger units built.

I don't like to stay in Myrtle Beach proper just simply because of the crowds. I'll go there while we are in town, but I can't stand being on a crowded beach where you can barely walk. LOL

Just Google a map of the MB area and check out the other areas and where they are located. I've heard great things about Cherry Grove and Garden City too.

I would just stay away from the strip. We always stay right across from Barefoot Landing and it's actually right on the border of Myrtle and North Myrtle. The further North you go the less congested it becomes.
