We are going to Myrtle Beach for five nights, six days. We have never been to MB, we have always gone to PCB in Florida, it is where we moved from and we have family there. MB is closer and we are ready for something new! :)

We will be staying oceanfront, no place fancy, just Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn (Reward Nights ;)) and they have pools, but we would like to get into the ocean. Is it too cold still late March, early April?

These are our plans-

Monday-arrive, eat lunch, hit the beach and do some shopping. There are combo tickets for Dixie Stampede and Ripley's Aquarium can we use these on seperate days? Dixie Stampede for dinner.

Tuesday-beach, Ripley's Aquarium and go to dinner at Pier 14? (any good? I found it online)

Wednesday-beach and the amusement park? Our daughter is 6 yo, 35lbs and 43 inches tall and we are not roller coaster people. Will there be enough to do for three or four hours?

Thursday-beach (surprise!) and goofy golf and more beach

Friday- beach and ?

Could any of you recommend any good inexpensive child friendly restaurants and other things to do?

Thank you!:flower3:

We go every year, and to me it is too cold until June or so. The high will probably only be in the 70's. River City Cafe is a great place to eat. We also like Nance's in Surfside beach. The big amusement park is closed due to financial issues, but there may be some smaller ones open. Don't expect anything great...There are no good amusement parks there. Broadway at the Beach is nice for shopping and walking around. Lots of good restaurants there too. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the quick response! :goodvibes

We need to go for Spring Break, my DH can not take vacation from May until Sept because of a whole new computer system and program and my husband is one of the people heading the training companywise.

Our little one is also in school now, so we have to plan things around that.

I guess the hotel heated pool it is.:woohoo:

We like Ryan's Steakhouse with the kids. Just pay for the buffet and drinks, don't order anything extra. There's plenty on the buffet, lots of choices. Nothing gourmet but decent. Their yeast rolls they bring to the table are to die for. And the kids usually love the ice cream sundae bar for dessert.

If Nascar Speedpark is open, we had fun there last year. My nieces (4 and 6 at the time) loved the mini bungee trampoline and we all loved the race cars. Your dd might like the Alligator place if it's open. I concur that B'way at the Beach is fun, your dd might like MagiQuest I think that that's there.

We thought of going there during spring break, but were worried it would be crowded with drunk college kids on their spring break. Is this not the case? We already made plans for spring break (we are going to dixie stampede too!) but might try myrtle beach next year.
The gator experience thing they have there looked cool, and that T.I.G.E.R. thing (except that it's waaaaay too expensive for my budget!)

I've been during Spring Break (April). To me, it is too cold for the beach/ocean.

We went the 1st week of June last year. The hard rock park was re-opened as the freestyle music park. It was a small park, but enough for a 1/2 day. I don't know if it is going to be open again this year.

My boys loved the Alligator thing, and Magic quest. The aqurium was nice, but only took a couple hours. I was expecting it to be bigger.

We also went to Brookgreen gardens. It was a bit of a drive, but so worth it. That took up most of a full day.

Thank you for your responses.:goodvibes

I am thinking we will go to Atlanta instead and save Myrtle Beach for a time when it is warmer.

::yes::
I would agree. Too many college age kids for my liking. Funny, I used to like them :rotfl: . Not sure about Atlanta. Last time I was there, I swore I'd never go back. :rotfl: I heard the aquarium there is amazing.
I also used to live in Myrtle Beach. I really can't think of any place I would want to take my kids. Maybe things have changed since then :confused3.

If you liked PCB in Florida, you should really try Fort Walton Beach. That's where we live and it is so beautiful! Not as many college kids either, they usually stay more towards Pensacola and PCB.

Ooooh, I LOOOOVE the T.I.G.E.R. place!!! When I lived there, I went there all the time. I have a lot of pics with me and tigers, I just love the baby ones!! I would go there again just for that!

We lived in PCB, FL for about 18 yrs, we really only go to visit family now.;) We definitely do not want to go there during Spring Break, it really is disgusting.

The Georgia Aquarium is awesome!

We have decided to go to Atlanta and go to the Aquarium, the zoo, the Coke museum, CNN, High Musuem of Art and the Fernbank museum in five nights and six days. We might surprise DD6 with a trip to American Girl.

Some friends of ours recommended Disney's Hilton Head and I think we will check that out in Sept if it is not too cold then.:goodvibes
