OMG!! You would not believe what happend to me.

It took nearly a year for me to clear 6,750 points and the day they cleared the $50 gift card disappeared.

Then.. I had a few Bzz reports clear and now I have slightly over 7000 redeemable points so I head over to cash out for the 2 $25's @ 3500 each and they had gone up to 3600. So now I need 7200.

On Saturday a couple more reports and some odds and ends came out of pending and I'm up to 7,196 points.

Now..I normally get 4 or 5 bonus mails a day so I figured it would be a matter of minutes before one came in and I could FINALLY (although not very happily) cash out. Well... I waited and waited and, unbelievably, did not get 1 bonus mail until 4 PM today. Cursing my fate (at having to spend 450 points more than I would have to had to spend for the same thing a week) ago, I head over to redeem and....

The 6,750 point $50 card is back!!!!

Had I received1 bonus mail in the past 3 days I would have cashed out for 7,200 points.

Kind of a dramatic rendition of my journey but to Schachteles and all my other fellow struggling reward earners I want to know...

A little bit OT, but can you use the Landry's GC for Yak & Yeti.
I'm trying to find ways to save $ on our trip, and hope I can get enough points for a $50 card if they still have them, soon.
There will be 6 of us and a $50 GC won't cover a meal at RFC for all of us, but it may cover a CS meal at Yak & Yeti. I can't find any info though, on if they take the GC or not. Everyone just talks about using them for RFC or TREX. Any help would be appreciated!

I can't say for sure, but Yak & Yeti are listed as restaurants you can redeem Landry's gc's for on their website. http://www.landrysrestaurants.com/pages/restaurants/pg_restaurants.htm

Hopefully someone who has been able to use it there will chime in soon for you.

The table service restaurant Yak & Yeti does accept the Landry's GC. I've successfully used them a couple of times. In September, 2008, I was told that the counter service restaurant outside did NOT accept the gift certificates (although they do accept the Disney ones). I don't know if that policy has changed since then.

As you stated you can shop thru mypoints and earn points, but there are other ways to earn points, too, that don't involve spending money:

When you sign up you can do things like setting up your profile and adding the toolbar to earn points.

Another thing you can do is sign up to receive e-mails from mypoints. These e-mails are called bonus mail - you'll get at least one e-mail a day and two or three or four or more times a week there will be an e-mail where just by clicking on the link at the bottom you can earn 5 points. There sometimes additional "free" points you can earn by doing simple things like creating an account (I got 50 points by creating a bid cactus account, even tho I've never spent any money there). I usually immediately scroll to the bottom but I read the bottom section carefully, because some require you spend money to earn points. I click on all the ones where I can get 5 points for nothing but the ones where I have to spend money I just delete.

You can also sign up to receive survey mail. They send out an e-mail for a link to take a survey. You have to qualify to take the survey. If you don't qualify you get ten points if you do qualify you get another amount of points which vary depending upon how long it takes to complete the survey. You can spend 5 minutes answering questions before you find out that you don't qualify which can be very frustrating. Other times you'll be qualified or disqualified after just two or three questions.

Other things you can do to earn points without spending money include frog pond where you visit a site, and write a brief review of the site. You don't have to do an indepth visit nor an in depth review to earn the points. some of the sites give 25 points if you write a review while others don't give you any points.

You can also download/print coupons to earn points. Each coupon you redeem gets you something like 10 points - I can't remember the exact number.
