Okay...here it is....

Q.
I don’t know the layout of the theme parks very well. Will FastPass+ service make it difficult to get from one experience to the next on time?

A.
Don’t worry—when we suggest arrival window times we carefully consider factors such as the length of an attraction and the travel time you will need between experiences. We use this information when we build your set of FastPass+ arrival times for attractions and entertainment to provide you with a timeline that tries to make your vacation as leisurely and enjoyable as ever—actually, we hope, more than ever!

If you’d like to familiarize yourself with our parks, please check out our interactive online maps. In addition, we can mail free customized maps to households in the United States. You can customize these beautiful keepsake maps with your favorite attractions and entertainment. You must be 18 years of age or older to order customized maps.

I can see how this system will help some people, for certain. Although we aren't power FP users per se, we only use 3-5 a day. Its not the number that bothers me most, its the pre-booking.

What would you say if you logged on at 60 days out and you can't book the FPs you want.

You say you don't want to sprint for FPs but what if you find yourself delayed getting to the park, or to the ride, and HAVE to sprint to the FP that you booked 60 days prior ?

What will you do when your 4yr/o is sick, or tired, or just throwing a fit, and you can't do the park you planned for a day, or your FPs that day, and then can't reschedule because all the FP slots have been booked 60 days prior ?

How about if it craps rain and storms on you on your planned MK day, and your child is super upset at missing out on MK, but you can't tell them you will do it tomorrow, because again you will have no FPs, they were booked 60 days prior ?

Maybe not of concern to you, maybe you just hope this doesn't happen, but I can tell you for myself, and many others, these are MAJOR concerns.

Wow, what a good point! I never even thought of that. I have four kids and we are planning on going June 2014. We went in June 2012 and two of our daughters came down with strep throat while we were there. We ended up switching our days around so that we missed AK instead of HS. If we had the FP+, then we would have missed out. I do see the other side though. We have four kids and it would be nice to guarantee each them one ride they want to ride for sure.

ahhh gotcha, i misunderstood.

As for PP specifically, thats why we're RD and grabbing a FP or setting up a FP+ for it (on long wait times all day).

If he wants to go on again but wait is intolerable, then it is what it is I guess ::yes::

New to the forums so I'm still clueless on what RD is, but you could do the rider swap with the little one and they'll get to ride right away. :)

RD is rope drop...being at the park when they open. Rider swap can not be used in the example we are talking about. Rider swap lets 1 adult sit with a child that isn't tall enough to ride and ride without much of a wait while a different adult sits with the child. It can't be used to get a child on a ride. Rider swap can only be used on rides with height restrictions and if you have a child that is too short to ride in your party.

I agree with what you're saying. i'm torn over this fp+ thing. it seems like a good idea to have a reserved time, but then again I feel like it's going to ruin just being able to wander around, enjoy the park, ride on what you want when you get there, and ride several times if the mood strikes you. also, for someone like me who gets anxiety about being places on time, I feel like this whole thing would make every day in the park an anxiety attack waiting to happen. I would constantly feel like we would have to get to the next thing and wouldn't enjoy our vacation. I can see the benefits, but I can also see it being a hassle sometimes. pros and cons, pros and cons.....

I am thinking I may be playing into Disney's hands, but one way to maintain the carefree feel is to book afternoon/evening FP+s and then just take yoour sweet time getting to the park. So long as you don't care if you ride a headliner more than once (without waiting in standby) that could work out pretty well.
I am trying to envision a bright side here. Perhaps now I can imagine a WDW vacation day which begins with lying in the bed a while, having a swim, or some other senselessly lazy undertaking. ::yes::

I totally see this approach, and quite a few people have mentioned it, that they will do Rope Drop and then have FPs in the afternoon.

My worry with this is simple, I imagine, as many others do, that afternoon and evening FPs will BY FAR be the most popular. So you better book them at 60 days, and if you don't, you probably aren't going to get em.

It WILL be interesting to see what FP+ does to RD ... I wonder if FP+ will force people into the park earlier, thus diminishing the appeal of RD for everyone else ...

I agree.

But I do find it odd that so many who didn't like the old system because they were disadvantaged by sleeping in now like this new system where they will do rope drop for standby followed by PM FPs. :confused3

Honestly though, unless they unexpectedly freeze me out of the current FP system on our upcoming vacation this is not something I will have to worry about for a while. I am just about tired of having too be locked into what and when I want to eat and now what and when I want to ride so far in advance. I dread the inevitable day when we will be set for 3pm TSMM FP+s but are ready to go back to the resort after lunch.

So I can't find this information on Disney's site, hoping a guru here can help.

We have a trip coming up over thanksgiving. We have PAP vouchers that we won't convert to the active ticketed PAP's until the first evening when we fly in.

Are we out of luck on the FP+ for this trip since we aren't "ticketed" until we arrive? We're staying on property as dvc members if that matters somehow (at least disney knows our attendance for lodging dates...)

Thanks in advance!

I expect you'll be able to enter the vouchers like regular tickets.

You will be able to call Disney with your voucher number so they can link it to MDE. We are arriving on the 23rd of this month at Bay Lake Tower...we were just invited to try another trial phase. We too have vouchers for PAP and called to make sure they could be used and to make sure, by partaking in the trial, that our PAP wouldn't somehow be activated before we go through the gate at a park first. All we had to do was give our voucher numbers, then call the ticketing center to confirm them. Now all that's left is to put the vouchers into MDE. I think there will be a more stream lined way to do it in the future. We are pretty hesitant about the new system...but we are excited to try it.

Well just call me Mary Sunshine because I think 4 FP a day scheduled in advance would be perfect for my family. For MK, I'd use them on ETWB, a parade spot, Dumbo, and princess meet. We don't do fast rides or PPF. For HS I'd pick TSMM, Legend of Captain Jack, Beauty, and Disney Jr. No ToT for this family or coasters. AK would be safari, FotLK, Nemo, Flights of Wonder (that's nearly everything we want to do there anyway). Epcot, Soarin, Illuminations spot, Living with the Land, and Turtle Talk.

Now before you flame me, this is for MY family. I'm not saying it works for everyone or even a majority. I have no desire to run across parks to grab FP. If we don't get FP as we walk then we'll wait in standby or not ride that ride.

It sounds quite peaceful. :goodvibes. What time of the year do you usually travel?

If there is any justice left in the world... there will be no FP offered for Legend of Capt. Jack.

;)

I wasn't indicating I would do rope drop-- more showing agreement with a plan for rope drop people to still get a great benefit from the new system.:)

Well, hello, Mary! I think there is a lot of people this will work for. I'm looking forward to having some FPP with out having to colect them during my park visit. Also looking forward to the reduction of people running through the parks and crashing into my family.

and if RD becomes more crowded then afternoons and evenings likely become less crowded.
