Well the Disney IT team continues to show expected results. I went to MDE to confirm that my Fireworks Dessert Party reservation was there and a window popped up asking me to take a survey. When I chose "YES" it took me to ESPN.com.

:confused3

How much did it ding your credit card for that "convenience transfer?"

;)

I also noticed the Magic Bands listed for the first time today. And I saw FP+ yesterday while I was fighting trying to make ADRs yesterday.

I also noticed the Magic Bands listed for the first time today. And I saw FP+ yesterday while I was fighting trying to make ADRs yesterday.

Listings have been randomly popping in and out for quite some time.

Well, I needed to call IPO this morning because after an email inquiry I received a response and at the end of the email IPO wrote:

"If you have not done so, we highly recommend you visit www.disneyworld.com to sign up for My Disney Experience account and complete online check-in. This will streamline your check in process and

keep you up-to-date with the new MyMagic+ enhancements we have coming in the near future."

Since we are checking into the WL next week, I wanted to find out exactly what they meant by 'My Magic+ Enhancements coming in the near future." For some reason by call was diverted to the IPO at AKL. The chatty IPO CM said the following:

(dont shoot the messsenger)

-They received much feedback re: the most recent MagicBand/FastPass+ testing.
-Some was very positive.
-Some very negative
-AKL is designated as a 'test resort' and it is slated to begin the MagicBand/fastPass+ roll out beginning the end of this month, but of course that could change.
-E-mails have been sent to AKL guests informing them of this.
-The roll out will happen very slowly over time.
- I asked about the WL and he said there exists a schedule of the rollout and if we are checking in next week, we will not be part of it.
- During at least part of the roll-out guest will be able to participate in FP+ and Regular FP only of they figure this out on their own because they are not telling folks they can do this. Some guests during the test tried to use FP and were successful and some assumed they could not use Regular FP.
- There is a FP+ button on the app. Some will press it and nothing will happen. Some will be able to make FP+ reservations, depending on where their resort is in the rollout calendar.
- At some point, FP will go away completely
-MDE is linked to one specific email.
- They are having more problems with MDE than they anticipated.
- Only dining reservations will currently show up on MDE. Speciality cruises, tours, parties will not.
- They included the "if you have not done so, we highly recommend you visit www.disneyworld.com to sign up for My Disney Experience account and complete online check-in. This will streamline your check in process and
keep you up-to-date with the new MyMagic+ enhancements we have coming in the near future" blurb in my email because they are beginning to get the word out how important it is for guests to have an MDE account because
- everything will be liked thru that
- that is how you will make your dining reservations
- that is how you will make your FP+ reservations 60 days in advance

- If you do not have a MDE account, you will receive (when the time comes) a gray MagicBand upon check-in and you can make your FP+ reservations at a kiosk at the resort or at the parks.

- Some people will refuse the band and they will be issued a KTTW (which, he said has always had RFID) but will not be able to use FP+

I think I remembered everything. Again, don't shoot the messenger. Who knows how accurate all this is but I thought I'd do my DIS duty and pass it along.

:dance3:

So if you need an armband to eventually use FP, and you only get them upon checking into a WDW resort, does this mean people staying off-grounds won't be able to use FP? Hmmm. I wouldn't mind that. More FPs for me to choose from!

1. No. RFID-enabled KTTWs will work also.

2. No. Announced to be available to all.

3. No. See 2.

Sorry, but you'll have to share with offsiters too.

Darn! Ok, since I'm already used to sharing, no problem. ;)

Sounds like more and more good news for me. I'm really hoping that they don't have this thing up and running to it's full 'potential' by my trip in September.

I hope they have the magic band in place for our november trip. Booking a fast pass for the parades and fireworks sounds like an awesome new alternative to standing for 3 hours on a curbside.:woohoo:

3 hours? No reason for that!

If everybody has the ability to book a fastpass for a parade or fireworks wouldn't that make it meaningless? So I assume it will it eat up one of your ride passes. Would you still do that?

Just curious, I can't figure out when I would ever use the FP+ for a parade or fireworks.

For me, the best use of a fireworks FP would be at Epcot. I'd book Soarn', TestTrack and Illuminations.

I'm with you. I've never not been able to walk up 15 minutes before any fireworks display and get a decent spot. Parades are a little tougher, but not much.

But everyone won't be able/capable of booking FP for those things. There are lots of reasons why 1)not interested 2)don't know about system 3)limited number of FP will be available for certain things just like there are today

The only time I foresee us using it for fireworks or a parade would be if they tier the FP+ options and you have to use 1 or 2 of the 3 for things that aren't headliners. Say there's a category that has the Tiki Room, Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents preferred seating, Stitch, and preferred seating for Wishes. We'd TOTALLY choose the Wishes seating. (Not that I've seen any indication that these attractions are in a tier together, just saying that if there were a situation in which the group of attractions to choose from were ones that we either weren't interested in or didn't feel the need to get a FP for, then we'd choose the fireworks seating for sure.)

So is everyone from the other FP+ Details released thread moving over here now ?

Wonder what happened to bring in a Mod, I was offline for like an hour ...

Oh, I don't know. I didn't even realize there was a problem?

I'm not into parades...too much hassle and annoyance.

As a short person...If I wanted to actually see a parade and not shoulders and heads...I need to get to a viewing place way in advance.

Even though I have done this in the past...people still put their children (who are TALLER then I!!) in front of me.

(Yes I do mind having your 5 food 2 daughter standing on front of me... she can see over my head, get behind me....thank you. :P)

So, if I liked parades THAT much, yea I'd do a FP for em...less chance of a tall child standing in front of me. :)

Unfortunately that hasn't been our experience. We've done preferred viewing for parades at DL and AK (twice) and each time it's just a taped off area the same width as any other viewing area and it's not policed so as the parade time gets closer you still have people putting their kids in front of you.

We've also done preferred viewing for Wishes in DL and Illuminations at EPCOT and were equally disappointed. The seating in DL was on top the train station so we could only see the high fireworks and completely missed the low ones. Judging by the reaction of the crowd on the ground we may have missed some cool stuff. For Illuminations it was the same experience as the parade. Despite getting there early, as the show got closer people still got in front of us.

I cannot imagine a scenario where we would ever use either of those options. Likewise, my kids have outgrown meet and greets so we wouldn't need those either.

Rethinking this after reading the experiences of the testers. They are saying it wasn't a favorable experience.
