I posted this comment earlier in this thread, but I really don't understand the comment that it will discourage park hopping if guests can use it at one park per day. To me, FP+ will make park hopping much better because I can get 3 fast passes at my afternoon/evening park in advance (and forego fast passes for my morning park when lines are shorter) rather than show up in park 2 and have all of the good fastpasses gone or for many hours in the future. Right now, I can't go to DHS in the afternoon and expect to ride TSM. Same for Epcot and Soarin. If I show up at MK in the mid-afternoon, it will be many hours before I can use my FP on BTMRR, SM or PP. But with FP+, all of the sudden, I can do something else in the morning and have fastpasses in hand for my afternoons. That is a huge improvement. In fact, for my June trip, I had been looking forward to FP+ and being able to split a day between AK (am) and DHS (pm), but now have to re-think that because TSM is the main thing we want to ride at DHS and we wouldn't be able to do that (too bad there's no way to exchange fastpasses - like get an EE FP in the morning for an afternoon return and trade it in for TSM when we switch parks!).

Generally, though, the majority of WDW guests do not do rope drop and arrive at park one around 11am and hop over to park two around 5 or 6pm.

But think for a moment about the alternative. Assuming you get three FP+s, you get to choose 3 attractions (let's assume there's no restrictions; three of your choice) but there's no standard FP. If you stay in the same park (so no PH) until 7pm, you've spent 8 hrs in the park. Let's assume your able to get one FP every two hours, so one at 11am, one at 1pm, one at 3pm, and one at 5pm. Right there, you've just gotten four and that's only with 8 hours in the park. You are getting more FP line access with the current system than the new one.

But how likely is it that the 5pm FP will be useable by 7pm? Surely not if you want an e-ticket attraction. In fact, your 3pm FP is unlikely to be for an e-ticket attraction if you are leaving by 7pm. With FP+ (as predicted here), I can be sure to get my top 3 choices with advance planning no matter what time I arrive and for how long I plan to be in the park.

It's also much better for those who want to take a midday break to swim, shop, relax, get out of crowds, etc. Let's say I want to take a break from 12pm-3pm. Under current system, any FP I get after 10am is likely to fall within that window and be unusable now that they enforce return times. Then when I come back, my 3pm FP is either going to be for a mediocre attraction or not returnable until much later in the day (or not available at all for the biggest attractions like TSM). With advance reservations, I can plan them around my breaks.

Sure I usually use more than 3 FP/day, so it's not going to be as good in that regard. If I spend a full day in the park, I would ideally arrive at rope drop, get a FP at 9am, 10am (since the first one is usually returnable within an hour), 11:30, 1:30, 3:30, 5:30. So this is half. But I think it's a good tradeoff to be able to avoid the morning rush for the top attractions and to be able to park hop or take a break without losing all hope of getting the best stuff later in the day.

Not sure where you got the idea that you can pick your top 3 choices with FP+. Nobody knows for sure, but every indication so far is that rides will be grouped with only 1 or 2 selections per group, keeping most from choosing all of their favorites.

I guess that's what we'll have to see. Nobody has any idea now. But my top 3 are very likely to be different from your top 3 and so on. But whatever it is, I don't mind waiting on lines in the morning and having fastpasses at my convenience in the afternoon after a break or a park switch for at least one or two rides that I would have otherwise been shut out from altogether.

Most indications so far suggest a tiered FP system for attractions. This means your top 3 choices better include at least one and possibly two second-tier attractions such as HM or IaSW.

Is there a reputable source for this business about only one pass per ride tier? That would severely hamper My Disney Experience at the parks!

It also seems weird they would do something so damaging to park hopping since they push it so much...

I would guess this is a move to prevent the over booking that they get on dining. I was on vacation last year and stuck on a bus with a women I wanted to beat down. She booked a ton of dining reservations. She said she would just figure out where they were when it got closer to time and cancel the others. She is the reason it is so hard to book an ADR! I could see the FP+ ending up going the same direction.

Oh great, that is when we will be there - 7/28-8/6. As a DVC member I am not excited for this at all, I find it stressful!

I am not a DVC member so I might just not know something but why does being a DVC member make this not a good thing? What is the connection?

It would be a little creepy if CMs had receptors and could walk around, read your name, and talk to you. I know it is not planned, but still...weird.

They can do this in Vegas because last year I had a casino host come out to my machine and greet me by my first name. She was just introducing herself and offering up the limo to me...shocked the heck out of me when it happened. I have NEVER been hosted before and it was just weird to me.

sorry if this is a re-post... we are staying onsite but thinking about buying our tickets from undercover tourist instead of disney. if we don't buy from disney.. can we have our tickets transferred to a magic band?? or will i have to use the "old" ticket.

I hope they're right--I really do--but I have two concerns:

1) The T&C in their current form do not suggest this. From them, I remember FP+ will be restricted to one park per day, there will be a max of 3 advance FP+ per day, and that FP and FP+ are mutually exclusive. While additional day-of FP+ might be available beyond the 3 advance ones, the T&C conspicuously omit this little detail. Doesn't bode well in my case for "as good or better", 'cause I guarantee you I can smoke that 3 per day limit right now.

2) I admit I am not the typical park visitor--many of us here are not. So who is this "you" exactly the FP+ team is feeling optimistic about? Is it me and my peeps who research WDW and figure out the basics as to how FastPass works, or is it Mr. & Mrs. John Q. Justshowup who get annoyed at all those people who paid good money to skip ahead of them via the FastPass line?

The "you" specifically asking the questions was local Celebration resident annual pass holders. The "you" specifically asking the question (and it wasn't me) said she averaged 5 FP's per day.

Regular FP as we know it now is definitely slated to disappear.

I personally do not remember the last time I pulled even one FP. October maybe?

I didn't ask a whole lot of questions - I repeated some of the rumors I've read here and the team member laughed.

I AM however interested in the FP system for quick service particularly for Be Our Guest.

There are so many holes in this it is ridiculous:

1. I am a super planner - I plan my fastpasses and am set to go 60 days out - my in-laws live in Tampa and want to join us for a couple of days on our trip but don't decide until a few weeks before - now there aren't fastpasses available to ride with us. So now either I give up the ones I have plan or tell my in-laws too bad you didn't plan soon enough.

2. We often go with me, DH, DD11, DD9 and my mom. Mom and son don't ride the roller coasters so we always pull fastpasses for them anyway and my DD gets a double ride. Not anymore if it is attached to my son's and mom's wristband. So now we ride less and they probably sit around waiting for us more.

We never go in peak season and I would say we usually get 5 -10 fastpasses a day at MK and HS...we pull them for every ride regardless of the wait. We never have a window where our next FP hasn't been drawn.
