My yard sale was yucky!!!

Never again will I do our block sale if they hold it this late in the year!! First of all it was raining early in the morning so my front yard was muddy!!! Then with it being late in the year, people are all garage saled out!! Lots of people looking but no one buying. I usually make over $300.00 at these things...this year I made a whopping $80.00!!! I was hoping for enough to cover some of the DIS-CON expenses, but that won't be happening now.

The only good thing yesterday was I bought this great desk for my house. It is at least 50 years old and solid pine. Neighbors down the street were selling it for $40.00!! Didn't try to get a deal, gave a depsit on the desk and it is now sitting in my dining room waiting for me to pay my bills and get organized!!! I've been looking for a desk for a few weeks and this just made my day!

Garage sales are an awful lot of work. I know you must be disappointed in the proceeds.

I feel your pain...we had a neighborhood garage sale and part of our neighborhood is down the road from us (hard to explain but the neighborhood is split into two)...nobody came to our end of it because they thought that the only sale. I made $16 (once I subtracted my $7 ad fee). SIXTEEN DOLLARS!!! To add insult to injury we are NOT allowed to hold our own garage sale...we HAVE to have a neighborhood garage sale or it is against neighborhood codes.

I was thinking of holding my own anyway or I'll never make any $$ at it.

Sorry your sale was a bust.. Maybe try a consignment shop for the rest of the good junk.

The worst thing is lugging it all back inside!

I got rid of a lot of the girls clothes by donating them to the foster program. My MIL works with the counties foster child program and said they are always looking for clothing donations. I gave her 4 large trash bags full of clothes..sizes ranging from 2t's up to size 14. I also gave her 6 pairs of old winter boots. I usually give the leftover clothes to Goodwill or something, but these kids can use them and they'll get them for free.
