Ugh! I bought this "Comfort and Joy" duvet set from HSN a few months ago. It wasn't cheap--I think it cost around $95 with shipping handling and tax--and I hate it! I wish I had read the reviews before I ordered it.

It's really, really difficult to stuff, and it doesn't stay put after I do. Yes, I've watched Youtubes on how to stuff a duvet, and while I can get it in right, after a night's sleep, it gets all messed up.

What a pain to wash! The cover is huge and bulky, so it's goes in one load. The filler goes in another, and then I need to wash my fuzzy blanket. And then there's the sheets. So it's four loads when I want to wash our bedding. :sad2:

The fabric isn't all that nice. How I wish I bought a comforter set at Target. I have one of their RE sets in a peach-skin poly fabric in my son's room that cost half as much. It washes like a dream, plus it looks and feels wonderful.

It may be that this particular duvet set is a bad one, but I'll never risk buying one again. It sounds like such a good idea to be able to swap out the color/design of your bed, but in practice, it's awful.

I used to do this too and it was such a pain. In theory, you don't have to wash the inside comforter that often because you have the outside duvet protecting it. But taking it off and putting it back on is such a pain. There are clips you can buy for the purpose of securing the inner comforter's corners to the inside corners of the duvet, but that's a pain too. Sorry :(

Hi Janice!!!

Sorry about your bedding. Didja ever find those beach towels? I wonder about them every time I lose something in my house!

Hi, Doc. :wave2:

No, I never did find those beach towels. :sad2: I think they are still somewhere in the house although I wonder if I accidentally donated them to Goodwill.

Is Rocky still with you? Max will be 9 in November. He's the reason I had to wash the duvet set this weekend. He is currently digging a 3x4 rectangular hole in our backyard. I'm afraid someone's going to see it from their second floor window and think we buried a body out there.

Anyway, grass and mud got stuck in his paws after a digging session on Saturday, then he bolted into the house and ran all over my bed. And the "mud" wasn't only mud either. :scared: Flippin' messy animal he is.

I gave up putting my down filler inside my duvet and now just put the sheets on, the down filler and the duvet on top. Works just as well. :thumbsup2

My DD has a down and duvet set and we all fight over it when she brings it downstairs. I am getting ready to buy my son one for college. I also plan to buy one for our downstairs couch so that everyone I stops stealing my DD's. I am sorry you ran into bad luck and I hope my next purchases are ok.

I absolutely love my duvet set, but I really hear what you are saying, loud and clear.

It is a total pain to wash/put back together. I sleep so well with it, that I put up with it, and just put it away this week, to put on something lighter.

Using ribbon, sew small loops on each corner of the comforter and ties on the each inside corner of the duvet. Lay the comforter on the bed, starting at the top, tie the two corners in the duvet and pull the duvet over the comforter to the end and then tie those corners. Give it a good shake to fluff. Takes just a few minutes.

my duvet is a pain too but I love how warm it is in the winter. I safety pinned the down comforter inside the duvet in each corner so it would stay in place. It makes a big difference!

I spent way too much money on our down comforters to not protect them with duvets. I use clips, everyone in our household and even DS who lives away at school have down comforters with duvet covers.

I use clips as shown below. For my bed, I have 2 king size comforters in a single duvet in the winter, and in the summer I break them up. I use a double set of clips as the 2 king comforters get very heavy.

Lay the duvet on the bed inside out, lay the comforter on top, clip the corners and for the kings I also clip the middle/sides. Turn the whole thing inside out and voila, its done!

The covers I use are a high threadcount cotton and fit in my washer with ease.

These, IMO are the best

JJ, I ordered that a long, long time ago and wished I had read the reviews also. I sent it back. It was a mess! Sounded simle, looked simple but was a nightmare. :(

I read the review AFTER I ordered it, but figured I'd give it a shot since it was on the way.

When I first got it, I put it together and didn't think it was so bad. But honestly, every time I wash it, it gets worse. I think the stuffer gets a little misshapen each time it's laundered. I made the bed this morning, and it was all over the place.

I'm going to try safety-pinning the corners as a PP suggested. And I'm never buying another duvet set.

I love Pottery Barn, but I hate that over half of their bedding is duvets! DD had one and it never stayed right. The botton part was so thin like it was just a sheet and the top was always bunched up. GRRRR! Now, I will only buy their quilts. I HATE DUVETS (okay, steps off soapbox)....
