My DS6 has been to Disney twice. My DS3 has never been, but this is the year! I have been planning for over a year now and all of a sudden my husband decides we really can't afford it. My DS3 is crushed. So, to make the situation better, my DH decides that he will stay home to save a little money. Don't get me wrong, I would love to vacation with my boys, but I think my husband will regret not being there for our son's first trip! My wish is for a little bit of a break on the prices. I know, I might as well be asking for the world, but magic happens every day!

I understand about wanting your hubby there. So, my suggestion is to either wait....it's a tough lesson for the kids(save and have the trip you want with daddy), but part of life. The other choice is to see how much you could really cut costs in all areas (like off site) and maybe you could all go for the same price as sending you and your sons. AAA, less days, etc., etc.??

If you want to just go with sons....I will be doing the same, with my mom (Grandma) who is taking us. My husband and Dad (Grandpa) have to work during the time that we are going. We also couldn't afford for all of us to go, even if DH didn't have to work. DH and my Dad have been with us on our 1st trip in '06 to Disneyland with the boys(ages 4 and 6), but this is our 1st trip to WDW. I am justifying it because, Grandma wants to go (and is treating for most of it)and my DH works super long hours in the spring (while we are going to be gone). I am bringing my camera/video cameras to capture special moments. I also know that we will be back and will save other things for us to do as a whole family, on the next trip. Dh is ok with it...sometimes I think us Mommy's are a little more sentimental than the Daddy's. I don't know if I've helped at all??

Sorry to go off on a story!

I would think it would be very difficult to take 2 young kids w/ just one adult. I've got 2 boys- 3 & 6, and I couldn't imagine going w/o another adult. I'm sure there are women out there who do it- but I don't think I could. Another thing would be my DS6 wouldn't be able to go on alot of the rides he loves, b/c DS3 isn't big enough yet. With any luck you'll get a discount code! Good luck w/ whatever you decide!

Give some details about your trip. Maybe some of the experienced folks here can give you some ideas. What are your dates, where are you staying, how are you traveling, etc.

why not call down and see if your name has the 40% promo code beside it? it is 40% off of room that would save a ton depending on where you are staying! Wouldnt hurt checking!!!!

We are traveling 12/6 - 12/13. We've gone those dates in the past and absolutely loved it. I have been calling twice a week to check on rate codes by my name and...nothing. I ordered the DVD and built an itinerary on the website (all things I've seen mentioned on the boards). I'm not stressing too much right now. I keep hearing that discounts will probably become available late summer/early fall. We've also been keeping a change jar around the house to save a little extra money and they boys are going through their old toys to have a yard sale. It will all work out in the end, you just have to have a little faith. However, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that a little pixie dust will come my way. :goodvibes

I don't know where you are planning on staying (values, off site, etc.) but if you aren't a DVC member, couldn't you rent points from a DVC from the disboards and it be cheaper? Granted, I know that is a busy season.

I am taking my DDs (almost 6 & almost 9) to WDW in April sans husband. A trip wasn't in our budget but I've really been wanting to go again. However, I don't think I'd do it alone w/ the girls. Luckily, DH suggested getting a sister or 2 to go along. Worked out great ... one sister is going so that will help w/ hotel costs which saves us a little more ... and older DD won't miss any of her favorite rides that younger DD is not tall enough for.
