My Disney World Dream --

When I was just a little girl, oh so long ago, (1974) my parents took all four of us children to Disney World. Of course Cinderella’s castle could be seen from every where in the park. It was the ONLY thing I wanted to see! I was seven years old and extremely anxious! I must have asked my mother “When are we going to get there!” about ever five minutes.

My parents wanted to take their time walking around the Magic Kingdom as we did have all day in the park. There were many thrilling things to see but my main focus was Cinderella’s castle. As I waited in line at the various rides and amusements my gaze was always towards the castle wondering what she was doing at that very moment. Were the step sisters in there too? Will she be happy to see me? Would I be allowed to talk to her? Would she have time to answer a few questions? Would she think I was nice? Would she like me? Could we play with her toys?

We were getting closer and closer to the castle. I could feel the excitement welling up inside me to the point I was about to explode in a million pieces! Just as we were getting close enough my mother stops me! Right across the street! Why were all of these people just standing around? Blocking my view and my way across the street?

The parade had started and there was no way we were getting across the street. It was like trying to get to the hospital but the longest circus train in the world was crossing the road. The parade was absolutely magnificent! I am sure my mother enjoyed the fact that I was distracted long enough not to burst into tears.

Finally! We were crossing the street and I RAN all the way inside!! ….

To find a hallway. I ran through to the other side. Nothing. I ran around the outside of the castle. My mother was in a bit of a panic running to keep up with me while carrying my baby sister. Eventually I returned to the inside of the hallway. Very disappointed. “Where is the door?” I did find a door that was painted on to the walls. My thought was I am in the Magical World of Disney and Cinderella’s castle, magic would open the door. I held my breath. I closed my eyes. Pressed my palms on the door then leaned in so my cheek rested against the cool, solid wall and smiled. In my mind I was saying “If I have enough magic in my heart, if I think of all the wonderful things in the whole wide, beautiful, wonderful world, the door would open.”

My mother must of thought I had completely lost my mind. There I was pressed against a wall of Cinderella’s castle with a dreamy smile on my face. She said it was time to go and the spell was broken. The door did not open. Tears started to well up in my eyes but I didn’t want to cry. I didn’t want the magic I was building up in my heart to vanish. “Maybe she [Cinderella] is on her way down to open the door! Maybe she is coming up the street! You go on to the rides and stuff. I am going to wait here for her.” Even though I protested that Cinderella’s castle was the safest place in the whole wide world, my mother thought it was best for all of us to stick together.

I took backward glances at Cinderella’s castle as we walked away. I cried off and on for maybe the next 20 minutes (my poor mother). I felt like I didn’t deserve to be in the Magical Kingdom because I just didn’t have enough magic in me. Not enough to open the door to Cinderella’s castle.

Of course there was so much more to do in the Magical Kingdom that I cheered up and had fun. I remember pulling my reluctant and overly frightened little sister right up to Captain Hook. His superbly gracious bow, how he effortlessly knelt down to our level. They way he easily put my sisters fears to rest by tickling her with a large white feather. I remember the exact shoes my sister and I were wearing (Yellow canvas buckle shoes with tiny pretty flowers). The Dumbo ride was the GREATEST feeling EVER!

So, back to the original idea of this entry. We are going to Disney World on June 16th and I tried to make reservations for Cinderella’s Royal Table but they were already booked up for every day of our stay. Since this will be my daughter’s first visit to Disney World and we cannot dine at Cinderella’s Royal Table this would be a dream come true for me and I would love to share it with my own little girl. I would LOVE to have a tour of the inside of Cinderella’s castle! Just a quick tour. To once, actually open the door to Cinderella’s castle. I am not saying I want to see where the cast members go in and out or any of the things that are hidden to keep the magic alive. That would be my Disney Wish come true.

What a sweet story. Keep calling for those CRT reservations. They *do* have cancelations, and you may be able to get into that castle yet!!

I was 8 the first time I went to disneyland and had some of the same feelings! I hope that some disney magic happens and that you will find a cancellation at the royal table!! Good luck!!:goodvibes

I would also encourage you to call even when you are there at Disney too! But try every day until then and I will hope with all the pixie dust I have in me that you get in!:wizard:

Don't forget about the Bibbidy Boppity Boutique that is IN the castle now too!

I was going to tell you to not give up either. I got married at Disney last July. It was my dream to go to the Castle the night of my wedding, well like you they were totally booked. So after the reception we put on some comfy clothes. Haha I still had my Tiara on and hair and makeup done. We went to City Hall and the sweet guy there did some Magic and got us into the Castle for dinner. A side note my Mom fell and hurt her shoulder on the way to the Castle and they even held our reservation for the parametics to check her out. So keep trying everyday till you go. And even when you get there. Have a Magical trip.

It is so wonderful to hear this story!

Thank you, to each and every one of you!

I think I wrote my thoughts down wrong though. Although having dinner at the CRT would be absolutely THRILLING! I am trying not to get my hopes up. Plus the thought of someone else loosing or cancelling their reservations would be heartbreaking news.

Just a super quick tour of the Cinderella suite would would just blow my mind! To me that would be "opening the door".

I did consider making an appointment at the BBB but she already has the princess dress of her dreams (Snow White delux). She has already packed this in her little suit case!

Also, I want to check out the drinking fountain at the castle. I read this on a myths or strange facts sort of web site. While taking a drink from the drinking fountain there is a painting of a crown on the wall of the castle and a statue of a princess between the drinking fountain and the wall. When I child drinks from the fountain they are at an optimal point of view to see the crown "placed" on the princess's head. Is'nt that magical?! So, if you see or hear about a Mom kneeling down to take a drink from this fountain in June, that I really hopes exists, you will know it is me.

Keep checking about the ADRs! You never know what will come up since some people have to change their plans or simply decide they don't want to eat there.

The fountain you're thinking about isn't a drinking fountain; it's a regular fountain with a statue of Cinderella with it and a painting behind it. If you stand at a certain angle (may have to "bow" depending on your height), then it looks like the crown in the painting has been placed on top of her head. Very magical indeed. If you walk straight through the castle towards Fantasyland, it's directly to your left just as you exit the castle tunnel, if that makes sense.

Fingers crossed that your ADR dreams come true!

Wow! That would be awesome if they could do that! I remember my first time I went I was 18 and I was a Cast Member working for The Disney Store here in Indy! When the parade started I felt like a little kid and just wanted to explode! I was excited beyone belief and amazed at how magical Disney World is, even at the age of 18! I became a Disney addict at that exact moment! :wizard: I wondered why I hadn't been there sooner! We have been trying to take our girls to CRT for breakfast for the past few years and each time we weren't able to get in. We are going the same time as you this year so I'll keep my eye out for ya at the fountain! :thumbsup2 Have a great trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Did you try getting ressies at Crystal Palace?? Not as exciting as CRT but if you can get an early enough time on a day they don't have EMH's, it's pretty magical being in the parks before they open) Have a fun trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, it *does* have drinking fountains on it. They are on the edges of the fountain. Two on each side, I believe.

May I tell you what I did to get CRT reservations? The couple of people I have told thinks I'm nuts, but hey, I have reservations for exactly when I wanted. I called ahead and wrote down all the prompts, then I practiced a couple of times to make sure I had it right. On my first morning to call I was up at 5:40 (had to call 6:00am my time) and got the atomic clock going on the computer. At a few seconds before 6:00 (CT) I began calling, took once redialing and I was in. You have to listen to the first prompt, but after that hit the appropriate number as soon as the next prompt begins. When the CM finally answers, interrupt with "Cindy's Table, date and time". Now you are passed your 180 day mark, but it couldn't hurt to try. If you are flexible it's possible you'll get something. And remember to apologize profusely for interrupting and not saying good morning. The CMs understand the desperation.
Yes, I am a bit nuts (gotta be where I work), but my DD is 5 and while she has been to Disney twice (at 1 & 3), this will be the very first time, she will be able to do most everything there. I want this to be a magical trip for her. To make it even better, she doesn't know about eating at the castle. She is having a birthday right before we go, so it will be one of her presents. Sorry for getting off subject. I'm excited and love having people to share Disney with who understand.
