My Wish for PSU....

Many people here are saying that others should feel a certain way or react a certain way. Like it or not, you can't force people to behave in whatever way you prefer. As distasteful as it might seem to some of you, the football program will still be important to some people and some will even defend Joe Paterno. I think that all we can hope for is justice for the victims because that's what really matters here. That and making sure that something like this never happens again.

Well, of course we can't force them. But when they "condemn" those who speak their mind--they can't force us either. It is a 2 way street.

You have to understand the system. The campus is patrolled by the Campus police force. Under Pennsylvania law they are a "real" police force and not just campus security and they are responsible for law enforcement on campus.

I am not sure who it was arranged at UF, but they are also a real police force. GPD doesn't come on campus unless invited as the campus is not their jurisdiction. Though it always seemed the on campus police's favorite crime busting activities were parking & speeding tickets.

I have remained quiet on all the events of the week because I know my opinions might not be popular or understood by most here. For the record, I am disgusted by Sandusky and those involved in this tragedy. However, I have to say this:

I've never been a Penn State fan and never will be, but for this one day and for all the ones in Blue and White at Penn State now or long ago graduated, who had NOTHING to do with the disgusting and vile acts of a few, I will cheer on the Nittany Lions to victory against Nebraska and hope for healing for all.

GO LIONS!

I won't cheer against Nebraska or any one else for that matter just because something evil happen at Penn State. Nebraska had nothing to do with this tragedy. I will however, wish and pray that the people responsible burn in hell.:sad2:

Whatever I think about tarring and feathering (FTR, I'm against it), I am amazed that the University does not have a rule against naming facilities for, or putting up statues of, living persons. My school had that rule, and I assumed at the time that just about all public schools did. Maybe my school just learned our lesson early (in the 19th century, FWIW), but living people can screw up, and sometimes they screw up in big and embarassing ways that end up costing a school donations for a very long time.

If you want to name something permanent for someone, that's very nice, but wait until they die first.

So true and I agree. Never thought of it that way!
