My wife thinks I'm freaking nuts but who's laughing now?

The funny thing is that my wife LOVES the Beach Club. Because of her Beach Club love (and her not being the world's largest parks fan) she wants to spend as much time at the resort as possible. That means that we have breakfast and dinner booked at Cape May each day. I'm sure once we are down there I can squeeze in some time at 1900 Park Fare and Tutto Italia, but for now we are booked at Cape May, with hopefully some changes to follow.

Hey, what can I say, the woman knows what she likes. Maybe that's why she kept me around for almost 20 years, though I'm a much larger version then I was back in 1991!!

Hey, jakeybake! Today is my 180 day mark too and spent my first hour at work this morning making all my ADRs (got everything I wanted!). Called my hubby to share the news - his response " I don't even know what I'm eating for dinner tonight..."

Happy upcoming anniversary! See you there!!

Congrats on getting everthing you wanted!! Isn't that just the best feeling in the world!!

If you see 3 redheads and one white head (with a little black still mixed in!) at the Cape May at either 10:00 am or 6:00 pm then stop over and say hello because that is definitely us!!

Have you been to Cape May before?

We are hoping to stay at the Beach Club for our trip next year and I was thinking Cape May for breakfast and dinner, although we haven't been there yet. We are from New England so I'm wondering if I'll be disappointed or thrilled with the "Cape May Clambake".

Hey, I'm a Massachusetts guy myself and have season tickets for the Patriots for the last 18 years so I have spent many, many Sunday's at Gillette Stadium!!

To answer you question, yes we have eaten at Cape May many times. Actually more than many times, we eat there most days for both breakfast and dinner. We love the food, including the clam bake. To be honest I don't see much of a difference in the quality of the clams compared to what we would get back home. The offer many, many choices for both adults and children.

Alos, IMHO the character breakfast is by far the best in all of WDW. The Cape May isn't very large and is an open floor plan (unlike 1900 Park Fare where there are seperate rooms) so it feels much less hectic and the character interaction seems much better and more personal. We have never felt rushed when interacting with the characters, unlike the rushed feelings you get get at Park Fare and Chef Mickey's.

I HIGHLY recommend it!!

They just don't understand the mind of %$&*#%@ crazy person now do they

Nope, totally admit I don't.
Sorry, I just can't get excited or see the need to get up at the crack of dawn to make a restaurant reservations 6 monts before I'm going to be eating there.

Plus, totally just my opinion but there aren't all the many great restaurants at the world. Some are good but very few I would cry over if I didn't eat there one year. If I do make adr's I usually wait until 3 months out.

I always hate the idea of "forcing" my taste buds to accomodate simply because I made a choice 180days out. never fails, the day we make an adr for tony's no body wants italian, there is nothing absolutely worse than having a hankering for chinese and forcing yourself to eat some thing else because you figured you "might" be in a certain location at a certain time.

I totally get your excitment. We are not going until Dec, can't make ADRs until June but I already have it all mapped out including the prefered times! I go over it with DH periodically and he "acts" interested but basically he wants me to tell him where to go and what time and it is all good. He just wants to go on vacation!:cutie:

BTW-Love love Cape May for both breakfast and dinner and I have to agree with you it is probably the best character breakfast in site.

Well hello neighbor! My husband works at the stadium part-time. He is always on the bridge for the Pats games. I'm sitting at home on the couch watching and screaming at the TV! We are close enough to the stadium that when there is a flyover, they go over the house and when they shoot off fireworks, we can see them from our kitchen window. And when U2 played there a couple years ago, we could hear it. He also works fulltime at Patriot Place and I work over there part-time, so as you can see, we are there a lot! (Go Pats!!)

Thanks for the info on Cape May. I had heard great things about the character breakfast, so that was a definite on our list. Sounds like we'll enjoy dinner too!

:rotfl2: This is so funny. I am the one out of my *%!@ mind too. Our 180 days is Monday...can't wait!. The family has no idea. I love when they get up and ask which park are we going to today? Are we eating at the resort or eating at a park? Can I eat now or do we have reservations shortly..:lmao: They can be clueless I tell you:confused3 :rotfl: They know better to never ever complain because they cannot be bothered in the decision making of ADRs and that is fine by me. I just ask them to name a few places they would like to eat and then I work my magic :wizard: I act like it is grueling and tiring hard work but I totally love it!

I understand your point of view.

We are a family that knows what we like. We all love Cape May Cafe, 1900 Park Fare, Tutto Italia etc. Because of that it's easy for us to decide on where we would like to dine since we already know where we want to be. Also, it's important for us to have our ADR's in place before we arrive because if you don't then it is very, very difficult to find anyplace to eat, let alone one of the places you really like.

I'm not the type of guy who wants to be worrying about where I'm going to be able to eat each day. I like knowing that I have all of that taken care of before we arrive.

I just did all of our ADR's the other day. The only input DH gave me was that he wanted to do Crystal Palace again before MK opened, because he likes the empty park pictures/video we have from a different trip :rotfl2:.

I did book California Grill for Wishes, which he seems excited about, and Le Cellier, which, to him, is "the cheddar cheese soup place."

I can relate. I booked all of our August ADRs last Friday. I was so excited to get everything on our list.

My family doesn't care to listen to my excitement, which is a total buzz kill for me. They don't understand the planning it takes to get them to their desired meal on their desired day--they think it's just Disney magic. My husband may be the only one who kind of gets it and appreciates my planning.

My kids are the same way. I swear, they think that if you're staying at the Beach Club that you can just walk up to the podium at Cape May, give your name and they show you to your seat.

Ahhhhhhh to be a kid again!!

I hate...HATE... the 180 day rule :furious:. On pure principle alone, it is absoultely absurd to have meal reservations that far in advance. No other meal, for no other occasion (outside of maybe your wedding), do you book a meal that far out. I don't care how much of an uber-planner you are - it's totally unnecessary. You can still PLAN all you want, but there is no need to actually book everything 6 months out. In fact, for the super-planners, a lesser window should be better for them. Then, they get to make all kinds of contingency plans and what not if they don't get their original planned ADRs. :hyper:

Now...with that rant said, in 3 days I will be getting up at the crack of dawn (pre-dawn actually - on a Sunday, no less) to make my ADRs. We're not the most adventerous eaters (DW and I are just about as bad as the kids) - so we could never settle for Marrakesh because it's the only place with perpetual availability. Therefore, I want to know we have restaurants we will enjoy. I would much rather play things by ear and choose restaurants the same day or, within only a week or so. But we all know that's not possible.

See ya at the Beach Club! :beach:

I was up at 5:40 am with my laptop and my sister was on the phone with me and she was one her laptop waiting for 6am. We were making ADRs for 14 people and we split up the list to get everything we wanted. and we did!!!!

I think the 180 day thing bothers me for a couple of reasons -
one is that I remember the "good old days" of walk-ups. (Yes, I know there's debate about whether that was good of course, but I do think it was easier.) At least, when I have kids, they won't have anything to compare it to like I do now -- but they also may never eat at certain restuarants! LOL.
I think my 2nd reason is that between my husband's and my jobs, it is impossible to truly plan a vacation 6 months out. Things change too much for our schedules - and it's also why we could never book a package with that 45 day cancellation policy. So, I have logged in 3-4 months early and booked some things based on our best guess before. But knowing our dates could really change is a bummer b/c then I know I won't be able to repeat those ressies, usually.

But the planner in me understands the thrill and the nerves, so OP - congrats!

I love it!:rotfl2:

OMG I wish my DH was as $#!@&* crazy as me. He loves going to Disney and wants to go every year but he has no interest in the planning of it and he too doesn't care to hear all about the plans I have made.

Now that I know that there are men out there as crazy about the planning stages as you, maybe I should trade mine in? :rotfl2:

I'm already taken. I think most of us good ones are. :lmao:

I'm a !%$*& crazy person too :lmao: I drive DH slightly crazy with my vacation planning :rotfl: And not just Disney, every single one. He puts up with it though because he has come to realize how much fun it is when we are actually on the vacation and we get to see, do and eat everything we want.:banana: He does say that planning a Disney vacation is like crack for OCD planners like me :rotfl2: :dance3:

I get a smiliar response from my DH....

Me: "Honey I got all our ADR's booked for our trip in July!"
Him:" How am I supposed to even KNOW what I want to eat in July?"
Me:"I asked for your input though remember?"
Him: "Yeah I remember but I also know you'll change your mind 50 million times so dont tell me anyting until were on the plane."

I can honestly say that I dont even know what I want to eat in July but I know what sounds good to me :rotfl::rotfl:

I have butterflies in my stomach the night before I have to wake up extra early to make the ADRs. I keep checking the alarm to make sure it's set right. My family has very little interest i hearing about it. My son will say " as long as i can get my fillet @ LC i'm happy". Of course that's a little stressful this year with the menu change. I don't want to use 2 credits on it. I have been told by a few cms the lunch menu is staying the same. I have been playing around with itineraries which determine adrs for me anyway. I will be waking up @ 5:45 this Sat morning to make my adrs so i better figure it out by then!!!!!
