My wife thinks I'm freaking nuts but who's laughing now?

I had the same trouble with the ERROR 500, plus it kept asking me to put in my reservation number and the first day of my trip, or my username and password. It did this over and over and over again. I finally gave up, after booking only one breakfast. It was sooooooo frustrating!!

J
YES..That is exactly what happened to me! I don't know if it was coincidence but as soon as I switched from Mozilla Firefox to internet Explorer everything worked well. Of couse it took me a half hour to get to that... I almost gave up too!

Usually DH says to me "Just make the ADR's whenever...you plan..." but then, somehow, about 2 or 3 days before 180 days comes, he always asks me "when are we doing BOMA? "....like somehow he has radar or something, because I know he doesn't have a countdown like I have........

You guys think you're crazy? Last time we went it was a surprise, we didn't tell our kids until we woke them for the airport. SO.....when the 180 day mark rolled around I got up super early and was on my laptop AND my phone but I was IN MY CAR in the driveway. I didn't want to run the risk of the kids hearing me, waking up and coming downstairs to see what I was doing.

I just kept praying they didn't wake up and see me in the parked car. I didn't want to have to make up some crazy reason why I was out there!

I'm about to hit the 180 day mark in about a month, I have to figure where we're going. I LOVE planning our meals out!

I'm the crazy one in our family too. I am going on a girls trip with Mom and Sis in Oct. I can make our ADR's on April 7th, so I spent some time this morning working out exactly what I wanted. The only input Mom and Sis had were that they wanted to eat at Coral Reef (which wasn't even close to the top of my restaurant list), so I made sure I fit that in. Hopefully I won't have any trouble getting my time picks on April 7

I'm @#$%$^&$ crazy too. In fact, I made an ADR for our July trip before my husband really agreed to go to WDW for this summer.

However, I'm like this for every trip I go on. I have my own collection of books for NYC, France, Paris, Italy, Florence, Rome, Disneyland (which I've never been to) and WDW.

I hear you! Though he loves the results, my husband thinks I need my head examined for making reservations 6 months in advance, especially since the window to make reservations opens at 3AM for people on the west coast. I don't get back to sleep easily, so it's a royal pain in the butt, especially when 180 falls on a work day. This year I'm thinking I should skip it and just settle for the reservations I can get when I wake up.

I resent that the hours start so early, but I understand that they're taking care of people on the east coast who have to be at work by 8AM. So I get it, but I'm not throwing you east coasters commenting on the early hour any sympathy.... :rotfl2:

I was fortunate that a CM helped make my DH understand things during our second trip:

We checked in for the Spirit of Aloha Luau at the Poly, and the CM says, "terrific! your table is front and center!" and my DH turns to me and says with a smile on his face, "I wonder how we rated that?!" The CM looks at him and says, "that's what happens when *someone* [looking at me and smiling] plans in advance and makes those ADRs at the first possible moment!"

We've been back to WDW 6 times since and I only get support since DH knows it really does make a difference!

Today was the 180 day mark for my trip in August. I woke up an hour early this morning so I could call up and make our dining reservations.

My wife called down and asked what I was doing and when I told her she said, and I quote, "You have completely lost your !@#$%^& mind!", end of quote.

Of course she knows darn well that I completely lost my !@#$%^& mind many, many years ago but she won't be questioning my sanity when she is sitting at her precious Cape May Cafe for breakfast and dinner each day of our 20th anniversary trip!!!

How's crazy now hmmmmmmm............

Not !@#$%^&. There are many restaurants that you have to do at 180 day mark. So glad to hear you were successful. :cloud9:

Have a Wonderful and Magical Anniversary. :flower3:

I remember many, many years ago when Cindy's was the only Princess meal calling early and being on hold for 30 minutes. I hear it all the time It's that :crazy2: Disney Lady!

Hi fellow CRAZY here! (With an understanding DH, but for sure knows my addiction.)

I Just booked the 180 window this AM!
GOT EVERYTHING! I made due willingly with a 6:25 PM Sanaa, as the options were 5:15 - 6:25 left. Also a 8:35 AM Cape May as options were 8:35 or 9:25.

I'll take crazy, over ending up with 7:15 Am ADR (or 10:30) or the options of 8:30 PM or later ADR for dinner cause some other crazy made them 1st.

It's a stress thing for me.

It's just so much less stressful to have all of your dining taken care of, especially if you have young children. Who wants to be trekking around from country to country in World Showcase with 2 hungry kids praying that one place will have availability. It's not how I want to spend my vacation.

One less thing to worry about while we are down there.

I do all my ADR's using the online system now...works great...the improvements Disney has made are just wonderful...and it's alot quieter then calling on the phone. :-)

What time can you start making reservations at your 180 day mark? My worry always was that the phone people get into the system quicker. I know I can call at 7am on the phone, but what time do I need to get on to the computer? This would really help me. TIA

I think it's 6AM.

My husband gave up on me years ago. Now when I wake up early and call in for the ADR's he just smiles and shakes his head.:goodvibes
LOVE it! Sounds just like me!! Right now we have ADR's for Cinderellas table for 9:05am. I have been stalking the reservation # and computer to try and get an earlier reservation. My husband doesn't say anything any more, just gives me a quirky little grin! :upsidedow

I'm totally with you on the 180 days out booking frenzy. I am already ready to book for Dec! Our last trip though was cancelled due to health reasons. We rescheduled and I booked our ADRs at about the 58d mark. We got everything we wanted, including CRT and CP, Coral Reef. The only thing that didin't work out was 'Ohana, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the place is overrated. Crt and CP were actually booked at about the 30d mark. I'm not going at crazy times either and we are a party of five. People cancel all the time and last minute ADRs can and often do work out.

wow... I must be lucky. I've never called at 180 days, never at a certain time.... i've only once called to make a res. and that was because you can't use the net for BBB.

Yet, I've always gotten where I want so far. I always read these where people are so excited because they got the ADR they wanted, :confused3 I mean, I only entered in the computer about a week ago for CRT and got the time frame I wanted. heck, I even changed it to a better time two days later. (pushed back an hour, so we had time for BBB.)

I say, go get them crazy people who watch the clock.. I'll take my luck and be thankful for it. :woohoo:

now I am half worried I should book all our meals, not just the character ones. :confused3

The time of the year has some impact, as does whether it is a free dining period.

During certain periods you pretty much have to call at 180 days or you will see your window close quickly. You will not be able to get the times you want and then you just won't be able to get any time. Then you spend months monitoring the cancellation threads which ain't no fun.

Of course this mostly impacts popular restaurants. There are still plenty of tables to be had.

You are a true Disney person. We do they same thing. Unfortunately, nowadays if you are not that persistent you will not experience Disney Dining if you go during a populated time.

The first time we went my wife thought I was crazy too. The travel agent warned me to make the ADR's in advance. My wife was like I don't see what the big deal is, we can just show up. I figured the travel agent knew what she was talking about. So I did the same as you and she just kept saying you are *&(^*( crazy as well! Well guess what when we got there and she saw all the people waiting, someone ate some crow. She still ribbed me and said I was anal, etc. But she got to sit and eat when she wanted.

When we went the second time she reminded me the day before to make the ressies. She even double checked the alarm clock the night before. That was when I knew she understood. She still ribbed me for my intinerary, but once there she quickly appreciated my organization.

A little organization and planning especially at WDW never hurts!
