I can't.
Right now we (wife,7, 11 and myself) are booked for the CBR for the week 4/14-21. After reading alot of posts I'm concerned that we may get struck out in one of the far off buildings. :sad2:
Had I found this site before we booked I probably would have paid the extra for a preferred room but now they are all gone. All of the posts about the bus service and how spread out the resort is has me concerned. On the other hand I'm reading more about POFQ and starting to wonder if we should/can switch resorts. POFQ seems to be a smaller resort with everything closer; pools, laundry, food. We are not hooked on having a carribean atmosphere but really looking for a nice place that we will enjoy.
Should we move or should I listen to my wife?

but from everything I read here I think I would consider the switch. By looking at both resorts on the map it looks as though POFQ is much smaller than CBR. I must admit I changed our resort as well. We were originally in CSR and now switched to Pop with two rooms instead. We will be on vaca for 10 nights and I felt the two rooms will be better than one with having 3 girls to get ready everyday.

We did not care for CBR mostly because of how spread out it was. It was quite a walk, when you're tired anyway, to the food court. pool, etc. Won't stay there again. don't know about buses as we drive.

I would call CRO and just see if you could get a room at POFQ and what rate..if you can I would suggest making the move if your worried about the size of the resort. CBR is big and can take a long time to walk anywhere. CBR is a lovely resort don't get me wrong...but I would recommend checking if POFQ has any rooms left.

The intimacy of POFQ is a huge appeal in the Moderate category. Plus it has a great pool, rated second only to BC/YC by the Unofficial Guide. CBR has a better restaurant but POFQ is nice and compact, so trade offs wherever you go.

Good luck!

I stayed at CBR and enjoyed it. It was a bit of a walk sometimes but the surrondings were beautiful.

I guess it all depends on what atmosphere you want and what is important to you.

I stayed at CBR and can not disagree that it is spread out but remeber there are bus stops all around so you will have no furhre walk then any other resort and sometimes lessjust ask for a rooom close to a bus stop.
walking to the food area is a diffrent story... but you can take the bus there as well
the PO resrts are spread out as well and you can run into the same problems.
I had the same experience at both --close the bus stop -but a long walk to the food area--
but they are nice walks :bounce:

good luck

POFQ is spread out too. We were all the way in the back and my daughters hated it. Granted they were teenagers at the time and walking was just too much for them (eyeroll). Buses were no big deal one of the bus stops was near our room but it was going to the food court area that was the problem.

What about WL? Wonder what they upgrade would cost you? Everything there is under one roof.
I think you have POR and POFQ mixed up. There is only one bus stop at POFQ and it is not far from any room.

We LOVE POFQ! The atmosphere is wonderful, very relaxing! And you have the benefit of two resorts form the price of one. You can take a stroll over to POR and have a meal at Boatwrights or hop the ferry to DTD. I felt it was a wonderful location as far a bus service too. We never waited more than 15 min. for a bus and they were never really full. You may want to see about switching over to POFQ or even POR. They are wonderful resorts. Oh, and POFQ is pract. brand new with the recent room refurb.. Check out pics and report on Deb's website www.allearsnet.com

Happy hunting!

Don't worry---CBR has so many positives that will cancel out the long walk, if you happen to be far. Be sure to ask for a closer building when you get there...or even call a few days before your trip to request close (and state you have young children). The Martinique buildings are very close. Big isn't always a bad thing...more space to run around & explore, lots of private pools, playgrounds, beaches!, feels less crowded, etc.

POFQ is small, yes, which is nice for walking to the Food Court, but no beaches, and when you're walking through the resort you reach the end of the property fairly quickly. At CBR, you're more engrossed in the beachness of it all so I personally feel more "away" from home. :goodvibes

Either one, you can't lose, so neither choice is a bad one. But...Perhaps you should avoid Trinidad South at all costs. That island at CBR is very far away...it almost seems like they should cut it off from the resort since it's across like a street or something. But, there are always the people who probably enjoy that. And don't forget, there's an internal bus that can take you from CBR island to island.

I thought that POR/FQ was pretty booked that week? So, maybe your decision has already been made for you? Reading too much here can make me crazy sometimes.... but yes, at some point we have to take a deep breath and be happy with the choices we've made... Whatever you decide, just go and have fun! :earsgirl:

I too wrung my hands about staying at CBR because I too found this board after making our ressies for our first trip. We loved it there, though. We haven't gone back because there are five of us so we stay at a deluxe, but our kids loved the pool and we never had trouble with the walk or the bus service, and we were in Trinidad North. The quiet pools are really nice and the laundry facilites were not far at all. I would keep calling every once in a while and checking availablity on a preferred room, because there are always cancellations, but it is tough to go wrong at any of Disney's resorts, they are all great! I went through the same thing when I booked the Poly last trip. After booking, I kept reading negative reviews, but we had loved it when we visited so I stayed with the Poly and it was great!

CBR is great unless you are in TS. There is no way I would stay at CBR and TS. If you cannot guar that you would not be in TS, then I would consider switching. I stayed in TN and that was great.

Perhaps your check-in time will dictate where you end up staying...will you be arriving early?

We've never stayed at CBR but we absolutely LOVE POFQ!! We like to compact size and the fact that we are close to the food court....we like to fill our mugs in the morning and enjoy coffee in the room....while I get ready, DH goes and gets our drinks....at the other mod resorts that may not be possible depending on where your room is....all depends on what's important to you though....having everything close-by is important to us, more so than walking around a beach-like place, so POFQ works for us.....

We'll be arriving around noon. I checked on the web and when I try to book a mod room only POFQ comes up, water view also.
I do like the idea of taking the boat to downtown! My kids love pools and from what I heard the pool at CBR is not that great. Although we won't be spending alot of time at the resort we are planning on some down time.
Also, what good are the beaches if you can't swim???

To relax on the hommocks; they are addicting! Once you sit in one and start swingin' -there's no getting out of the hammock for at least...

And don't underestimate the healing power of relaxing in the sand. :cloud9:

We stayed at CBR over President's week - I too was concerned about the spread out nature of the resort, so I took the advice of other Dis'ers and requested Jamaica building 45. I did this at check-in and the CM couldn't find anything available immediately, so we waited until a room was ready, which turned out to be around 4:00.

The location of that building is really great! There is a bus stop there and the pool, main building food court area is just a short walk over the bridge.

I would request this location again, and feel that it is the closest to being preferred without actually paying for it! Others have also mentioned Aruba - which was right next to Jamaica.

You might want to consider CSR. We love it there, and it's spread too, but we found the bus loop to be very convienient. Just a quick trip to the main building or a nice walk. We are trying out POFQ this next trip, but I love CSR.

Absolutely nothing wrong with CBR. We were there in July and loved it. Yes, it's big. But we were in Jamaica 45 which was a very short walk to the food court, the main pool and the bus stop. Don't let all the negative posts scare you away. It almost did that to us last summer, but we stuck with CBR which was our first choice. We had a 2nd floor corner room and it was very quiet. The bus stop was practically outside our door and Jamaica was usually the first stop on the loop around the resort. When we go back next year, we'll be staying there again.
