Well I promised a little update after the trip so here it is.

I rented the x large wheelchair from Randys Mobility. He did ask me how much I weighed and I told him right at 250, but I would rather have the bigger one.

It was waiting at the Grand Floridian when we arrived.

Sometimes dh pushed me and sometimes I used it like a walker.

Some of the problems I encountered during the week.

At the Grand Floridian the busses are the ones wtih the large high stairs. We asked the driver if he could lower the back. I guess I said that wrong. I actually wanted him to put the ramp down so dh wouldnt have to drag it up all the stairs. It was only lowered a little. Not good.

On Small World., I decided to sit in the boat and not use the chair. Big Mistake. I really coulnt get out and dh had to really yank me out, holding up the ride, but with one cm assigned to 7 boats I dont think they noticed the mobility delay caused by me.

On Nemo Ride at the Living Seas I decided to stay in the chair. Well the cm couldnt get the wide wheelchair on. He said it didnt fit. Dh told me later it would have if he would have been more patient. (He didnt say this to the cm). So they stopped the whole ride, everyone was staring at me, I so did not like this, then I did get out of the chair and walk onto the next car very slowly. They had to reboot/start the whole ride up again so everyone was waiting. When I got off I noticed they stopped the whole ride so I could get out and had my wheelchair right on the moving platform.

At the BC/YC boat dock again the wide wheelchair would not go over the narrow ramp they have. Has anyone else experienced this? So I got up slowly and held on and dh folded up the chair. The ramp at Hollywood Studios is fine.

I dont know if Disney is aware of this. Dont know if I should say something to them etc? It was a hassle, taking time etc.

I did notice at the 3pm Hollywood Studios parade, at first the cm was being really laid back about people in the wheelchair area who did not belong. Someone said to dh and I. (I was in the chair. He was on the bench. They said, oh can you save these 2 seats for us. I said, are you handicapped? They said, no. I said well this is the handicapped area. Hmm, why did I HAVE to say this? Its the cm job. Finally I stared at the cm and he started being a little more diligent etc.

All the rest of the parades etc. were fine. I liked being up close for star wars.
First time I sat at the Epcot viewing area by England. While the view was great the smoke etc. was not good.

I wanted to say that I'm sorry you had such a time on your trip. When DH & I (DH is an above the knee amputee and uses an ECV) were at WDW last month we noticed the same thing with the CMs and the viewing areas. We didn't know where the one in Epcot was and when I asked a CM she acted like I was bothering her and then pointed off to the right and said "over by Morocco" - we never did find it but did end up finding somewhere where DH could park the EVC to view and not have anyone in front of him.

I say complain! We got a survey when we got home and I expressed all that we had been through.
