We had to have our beloved westie, Snowy, put to sleep on Saturday night. She was diagnosed with bone cancer in one of her vertebrae in November. She had surgery but of course they could not take out all of it. It grew back quickly so radiation and chemo really were not longer options. She was paralyzed in her back legs but got around well. She had no pain for the 5 months after the surgery and the vets comfirmed that for me whenever I brought her in. On Saturday she deteriorated rapidly and had alot of trouble breathing so we knew we had to put her to sleep. She was such a good dog, my pestie westie, and I miss her terribly. She was only 8. The vet only gave her 2 months after the surgery but my tough little terrier made it 5 months and she was happy, barking, eating, enjoying things. I like to think of her whole again and playing with all the other doggies who have gone on before.

:grouphug: I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved dog. :(

Many, many, many hugs to you

I hope your Snowy and my Sampson (my German Shepherd that I had to put down at the age of 5 due to Lymphnoma) have a wonderful time playing together by the Rainbow Bridge. We can take great comfort in knowing that our beloved dogs are no longer in pain and no longer sick. They will someday meet us at the Rainbow Bridge with lots of love and lots of kisses.

Take care and God Bless!!!!

Snowy most certainly is there, mom, at the bridge, with so many others. Sure sounds like you and Snowy were best buddies, forever. And the months of additional sharing, bonding, will be a forever memory. My best wishes, mom.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm so sorry, Snowysmom. We love our furbabies so much and when they leave us, a big hole is left in our hearts.

Sending you prayers and well wishes to help you get through this difficult time.

:grouphug: So sorry. I know it is painful to lose a furry friend. I grew up with Westies. My dad still has two of them. As yappie as they can be they still sure are cute.

Thank you everyone for your sympathy. I have to laugh about westies being yappy. Snowy was certainly a barker. Anything and everything that went by our house got barked at. She was our westie watchdog!

:grouphug: I'm so sorry. I remember you posting when they found Snowy's cancer. We have a Westie too - so I know how special they are. Many hugs.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my cocker spaniel, Lucky on Thursday so I know the pain your are in. I will keep you in my thoughts.

I'm so sorry for your loss :grouphug:

It sounds like Snowy was very much loved and well taken care of...and very happy!

Treasure the moments you had together and know that she is playing at the Rainbow Bridge...

:grouphug:
I know it is very difficult but time will heal; trust me.
lots of hugs to you.

I like to think that Snowy is running and playing with my Koko and all the other dis'ers pets that have gone over the rainbow bridge.

:grouphug: Snowy's Mom, I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved baby. I have always said that if/when I ever have a dog again, it will be a Westie. There is just something so precious about them. I know that you loved her very much, and I am sure that she knew it as well. You obviously took very good care of her...you were a blessing in her life.

I would love to see a picture of Snowy if you ever feel up to sharing one. :grouphug:

I'm sorry, I know how hard it is. :grouphug:
