Hi there,
Well I have definately been sleeping and feeling much better these past few days. I think it was since Dh's call last Wednesday night that I have. I really looked forward to the weekend and had a nice day with the kids on Saturday. Telling my Girl Scout troop that we were going to bag doing the Aquarium worked out fine, and we have decided to go bowling and have pizza instead in two weeks.
Last night (Saturday) I got my usual e-mail from him somewhere around 8pm. I disconnected from my dial-up and the phone rang. It was him. He was supposed to call me Sunday night, but because he had to do EOR (end of the Runway) work on Sunday, he wanted to call me Saturday because he wouldn't be able to. When he does EOR he sits at the end of the runway and pulls the pins on the bombs before the planes take off. Hearing his voice was so great.
He still sounded like he had a bad cold, but said he felt much better. He really sounds like he is so homesick. Some of the guys who work on the A-10's had to go into Iraq into a forward position. They volunteered, but they will probably need more people to go to this forward position soon. He is not sure if he will have to go or not. I told him to do everything in his power to stay in Kuwait. I really would hate to loose my communications from him.
He did tell me not to send too much in the way of snacks because he has absolutely no room in his tent. The refrigerator in the hanger is filled with water. He has liked the snacks I sent so far. Little does he know that I am planning my easter box that I am going to fill with easter grass and lots of goodies!!
This morning at church I met a woman who lives in my sort of small town who's husband is in Kuwait. She has 5 kids between 1-9 years old, and hasn't heard from her husband in a week. He will be going into Iraq at some point. It was so nice to meet someone else going through what I am here in my town. She even e-mailed me tonight.
DH didn't e-mail me today, the first time since he was over there. I imagine it had something to do with the reason that he couldn't call tonight since he was at EOR. Of course my imagination gets to me sometimes and I have visions of them sending him without being able to tell me to this forward position. I am almost 100% sure he would do everything in his power to insist that he e-mail me prior to leaving.
My daughter's school is going to make a paper quilt with pictures of all of them dressed patriotically and holding signs. We are going to send it to his unit. I can't wait for that, and I know they will love it.
Thanks to everyone for all your prayers and well-wishes. You really have helped me to get through this time in my life. I pray it is over for all of us very soon.
