I knew there was a reason I didn't visit The World in the summer. I remembered what it was when the heat and humidity about did me in my first few minutes of vacation. During the week, the thermometer climbed to 98ish. A friend let me borrow one of those battery operated fans to take with me. Great idea & what a life saver...not to mention money saver since I didn't have to spend money on a Disney fan. It rained a bit. There was a storm right before my birthday dinner. In the picture, you can see how soaked poor Mike was. Every time it clouded up &/or rained, I broke into song: "I'm just a litle black rain cloud." I sang it at the airport and even sent it as a text message yesterday morning since it was raining.

I knew how miserable I was because of the heat. I felt bad for the wee ones. Baby babies being toted around as horribly hot as it was. People were yelling at their poor kids for being whiny and crying and for complaining.

It was my friend Mike's first time flying. We had a great flight down, but a delay, electrical storm, and a wee bit of turbulence on the flight back. He survived. Poor baby had to call it an early night on Sunday and go back to the hotel with a terrible headache.

We stayed at POR in the big mansion style buildings. Once we realized how to get from our room to the lobby and bus stop, life was much better.

Lines were long, but I expected it. Most of the time we were through the lines quicker than the "estimated time from this point." The only problem with lines that I had was the line for Peter Pan. I swear that it takes double the amount of time to get through that line. We rode to our hearts content. We got an unexpected back stage walk through tour of Test Track when our ride was "terminated." While we were waiting for a cast member to come rescue us, we played a very rousing game of I Spy. I'm sure the group of kids in front of us were not very happy. Oh well.

While Mike was sick in bed, I ate at Rose and Crown, which is one of my favorite restaurants. I had my first Black & Tan. It was tasty. We ate at Hollywood and Vine. I've read where people didn't like it much. We loved it. Except for the mashed potatoes and the mac and cheese, everything was great. We had two plates of real food, one plate of dessert, then went back for another plate of real food and more dessert. We celebrated my birthday on Tuesday with breakfast at Chef Mickey's. Food was ok. I do agree with everyone on that. Not as good as I had hoped it would be. They came to our table and tried to sell us a picture package of the two of us at the Chef Mickey statue for $31. Why waste all that time, energy, and photo supplies? Why not ask people before going through all that? Mickey seemed to be in a hurry and rushed through our pictures. Goofy, however, was great. We had a fabulous little birthday waltz. We had birthday dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. It was quite tasty! My assistant manager ate there last summer and complained the portions were small. My dinner portion was quite satisfying. We ate at Biergarten & at Crystal Palace. Biergarten was tasty! My two complaints are: there is no real direction. People were all over the place and giving grumbles and death stares to those of us going the "wrong way." And the other was the loudness of the polka band. I didn't even mind sitting with strangers. One set was grumpy, but the others were very nice.

It was nice to have so many people wish me happy birthday. We watched the Public Works guys at MGM. They asked those of us having birthdays a lot of questions to sing us a birthday song. After collecting all the data the birthday song went: "This is your birthday song. It isn't very long." I got a fantastic little birthday rubber chicken.

We started making plans to celebrate his birthday in September. I got an annual pass this year, so I'm game for any trip! I'm planning trips for the Food and Wine/MNSSHP and for MVMCP. I'd like to get to the flower show, but vacation is so limited next year that I don't know if I'll get to go or not.

Thankfully, I only came home with just one foot blister and a slight sunburn. We stayed well hydrated, finishing off our 36 bottles of water we had delivered by gardengrocer.com. My day off before returning back to work should have been spent sleeping. I didn't get home until 4 am. I had to stop and sleep a bit at a rest area. I know that wasn't very safe, but I knew I was thisclose to falling asleep. I was in bed and asleep at 9 last night to get plenty of sleep for my first day back at work that started at 7 am. Come on 3pm! Come on next trip!!
