I've been on the waitlist for 100 VGC points since last February. We signed and sent to ROFR an Aulani resale contract last July 26 and 14 days later, my guide calls me to tell me that my waitlist for VGC came through!

I couldn't let the VGC points pass but a couple of questions started going through my head:

1. After getting the 100 VGC points, I don't think I'll be needing the Aulani points that we just sent to ROFR. Is it possible to cancel this sale? With my luck, most probably this will pass ROFR. This is my second attempt for a resale because the 1st one did not pass and I ended up buying direct.

2. The VGC points I just purchased today has a Dec UY and is a couple days late of the banking deadline. My 2012 points will expire Nov 30. Will MS allow me to bank my 2012 points since it's a new purchase?

Thanks in advance for all your input!

I'd contact your agent at the resale company for advice. Good luck and congrats on the VGC contract.

Most likely, yes. :)

This is a courtesy that DVC has been extending to direct purchasers. Call MS today and see if the points are in your account. If yes, ask for them to be banked since they were just purchased. If there is any issue (don't think there will be), call your guide.

You should be able to cancel out of the contract that went to ROFR but I believe that you will lose your deposit. IMO, if you really don't think that you want them, contact the agent now and ask to be let out, providing you are okay with the loss of the deposit.

Congratulations!

Should I wait to see first if we even pass ROFR? I might not even have to worry about loosing my deposit if we don't pass ROFR right?

The current owner of the Aulani contract is under the impression that the contract is sold - either to you or Disney. If you are going to back out of this contract, I think that the current owner would appreciate having that information sooner rather than later. Possibly they would want the contract to continue through the ROFR process on the chance that the ROFR would be exercised. But they may be anticipating the funds coming in from the sale and making plans for those funds.

Congratulations on your VGC contract. That is my home resort and I love it. Before you back out of the Aulani resale contract consider that VGC is a points hog. Ask yourself whether 100 points is enough to let you use it the way that you hoped. You are looking at maybe 3-5 nights in a studio every year with a 100pts. I looked for a 150 to 200 point resale and was finally sucessful getting a 200 point resale through ROFR. While it was at the top end of my point range, after two years of ownership, I am already considering adding on more points! If I do so it will probably be at a different resort so I can save all of my VGC points for stays at VGC.

This is a great point. We had 230 OKW points from forever ago and then moved west and wanted VGC.

We originally thought 50 to 75 w/b enough, so we did a direct add on. Even using our OKW points at 7 months when we were lucky, that wasn't enough.

So we've added on twice more at VGC and now have 325 there. Not only does it suck up points, but the 11 month window is really important if you plan on going at certain times, like Christmas or one of the race weekends.

As a side note, before we went all in at VGC, we had also bought 160 points at Aulani, but then when we saw that we really wanted the 11 month advantage at VGC we sold that back to Disney (long story) and used that $$ toward our VGC add ons.

Thanks for all your input!

I've decided to go through with the Aulani resale since my family loves Hawaii anyways and I don't think it will be a problem for us to use all 300+ Aulani points in one trip every year. :cool1:

I only purchased 100 VGC points because I only intended to use my points for a couple of days during the holidays. :)

Congratulations! And you are giving me hope!! I've been on the WL for VGC since mid-March. Good to know there is at least a little movement.

Congrats on the points! I would really love a VGC small add on. How much is it directly through disney now? Is it $120/point?
