I just dropped my sister's puppy off at our vet to be spayed, and while I was there my vet asked for my help to find a home for 2 cats. They are healthy and lovely cats, and their owner is going to put them down if my vet can't find a good home for them:mad: They only have a matter of days to find them a home. My vet is in Central MA, so if anyone in this area is looking for 2 really nice pets, please PM me. My vet was quite desperate, so I told her that I'd post to an internet board that a lot of MA people read. I'm going to contact the Pat Brody shelter too, but I don't even know if the owner would agree to surrender them to a shelter. I feel so sad, since I have 2 lovely cats myself that it will kill me to lose to old age someday. I don't know how someone can be this cruel because they no longer want their pets:mad:

I have two cats already, Chrissyk, but just wanted to say that our second cat came from the Pat Brody Shelter, and (God forbid) if we ever found ourselves in a position where the cats had to be rehomed I wouldn't hesitate to bring them there. Those people are doing some wonderful things for a group of cats who would otherwise suffer, I fear, terrible ends.

Good luck in your search......

If the shelter can't take them, can you possibly take them until a home could be found?

I wish I could help.

If the owner wouldn't surrend them to the shelter, could you adopt them from the vet and then take them to the shelter yourself??

A bit sneaky maybe but it would save the cats ::yes::

Can you post some more details llike what they look like, male or female, age, Do they like dogs, other cats, kids??? It may help people to decide.
I'm a sucker for rescuing animals......we have a little stray that has been hanging around lately so of course I've been feeding him. My husband asked me if I wanted to get hit by a board! LOL....then he went ahead and gave it a name! LOL
He's as much as a softie as I am!

I have 2 cats myself, and neither of them takes kindly to other animals unfortunately :( Otherwise I would take them until I could find them a home.

As for pictures, I don't have any unfortunately. Apparently, one is a good-sized white furball, and the other is a good-sized orange furball. They are 12 and 13 years old, and in good health other than having to take thyroid medicine.

I tried calling the Pat Brody shelter twice, but it just rings and rings. I sent them an email earlier, and I'm still waiting for a response. I really hope that they get back to me in time.

Oh I wish I could help. I live in the Central MA area but I already have 3 cats at home. I feel bad that their owners are getting rid of them. I can't imagine having a pet for so long and then get rid of them.

Did your Vet post anything on their boards? Maybe someone that comes in there would be willing take them home.

Our vet actually has cats roaming the place. The cats belong to the vet office. They live there. At night they have to sleep in cages, but during the day those cats are everywhere. They like to lay on top of the computer monitors where it's nice and warm. Anyways, I'm a cat person (I pick up newly adopted kitty tomorrow) and I think it's great to be at the vets and have a cat laid up on the counter when I'm trying to check out---maybe the vet would be willing to just let them live there at the office.

She already has 1 office kitty. She had 2, but the other one got hit by a car recently :( Her clinic is right on a busy street off the highway, and he somehow got out. I don't know how these 2 would adapt to being "office cats" after having been housecats for so long. It's a good idea to bring up when I pick the dog up this afternoon, though!
