Well, I was hoping to be sitting here right now, proudly announcing my installation of DSL. What a mess this has been! I actually got the confirmation from them on Wed evening that I could now hook it up. That part went smoothly, but I am sad to report that after HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS of tech support, I am still not connected!:( The final verdict has been that I need to install an Ethernet card on my computer in order for this to work. There is some sort of conflict with the USB port  It could be that fact that my printer uses the USB port in the back of the tower, but at this point, my brain is so fried, I am surprised I was able to find my way back to the DIS!

Oh well....we'll have to see what happens!:( I keep getting told that it will be all well worth it, but I am having my doubts!

Once you get your broadband connection working, you won't regret the hassle. Good luck with the ethernet card setup. It shouldn't be too bad.

Search around for rebates on your ethernet hook-up when you hook up with DSL. Sometimes they are around.

Good luck.

I had the same issue with Verizon, and they sent me the ethernet card free of charge. It came quickly and I was up and running in no time. Good luck!

Man, I hate that company. I really do. First they announced their earnings in line with expectations and promptly laid off a ton of people right before Christmas (how humane  ) and then they sent me my phone bill with an insert, in font 4, describing the "rate impact" that will affect my next bill. "Rate Impact?" They're raising my rates for the fourth time in fifteen months. I am so totally done with Verizon.

I just got hooked up with Verizon DSL 3 days ago.

Their tech support was really good for me getting the connection to work.

Last night the service was offline.

I have another 20 days to see if I like it.

I had to install an ethernet card to get my DSL...very easy, just snap into place.

USb ethernet tends not to work well versus internal ethernet which are better in my opinion.

I already had a network card so when I signed up for DSL this wasn't a problem really.

I have had Verizon DSL for over a year now and I love it. I can only think of two times that the service was down during that period.

I've had my Verizon DSL for 11 months, and it's been great. The only access problems I've had were during the very first week. For the first couple of days my password wouldn't work. I'd call tech support, they would reset it, it would work once then wouldn't work again. After 4 or 5 days of that (I was getting frustrated) the problem was resolved and has never come back up.

I have DirecTV DSL...I've had them for about a year now, and they've just decided to cancel their DSL service! They're offering a "smooth transition" over to Verizon DSL!! We'll see how THAT goes (1/23/03)! I have a DSL router that they're (DTV) not going to take back, but Verizon wants to charge me 99 bucks for THEIR gateway!! DTV's service was $49.99 a month! Verizon's is $59.99! I don't particularly care for DHCP, so they're gonna charge me another $20 on top of that for a static IP address.....UGH!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my Verizon DSL. I've had it about a year, I think.
