No need to respond, I just need to vent... for lack of better wording.

So my aunt wanted me to fly out to Texas to help her clean her apt for a week. First bad omen, Kari got scheduled to work on my flight out, so I had to take the bus from Disney to the Airport. Wasn't that bad, but I was in a hurry to get on the bus and forgot the grab the car charger out of the car, because I forgot the other one at home.

Flight was fine, met my aunt and g'mother at the airport. Then we went to dinner at my cousin's resturaunt which is always yummy. Got home late, chatted a bit. And then my g'mother had a TIA (some where between a minor stroke and a seizure) in the bathroom at 1:30 in the morning. She fell on the waste basket bruised her head and arm pretty. Didn't get any sleep because of being in the ER till 7am. She stayed in the hospital for the next two days, which my aunt had off from work so we could clean. That didn't happen. My g'mother's memory always goes so horrible after a seizure that you can tell her she's in the hospital and 5 seconds later she thinks she's at home. She kept thinking she was in her chair at home and reaching for the lever to put her feet down. I've also made very little progress at the whole cleaning part.

My aunt is now very afraid of leaving her at home alone. But she has to work at least part time for the money and health benefits. Now she wants me to stay for an extra week or something, and then have my mom fly out for a few week visit. My mom lives with my sister, and the kids will be going back to school on the 24th, so my aunt doesn't want my mom to leave too early and leave my sis by herself with all the kids... (my theory is she shouldn't have popped them if she couldn't handle them, but that's for another day).

BTW, my g'mother is getting back to normal, slowly but surely. She spent from 2am wenesday till about 7pm friday at the hospital. But every time she bumps a bruise, she looks down at it and wonders how she got it. She's also got several bruises from the IV's and stuff, so her arms don't look good at all, nor does the side of her face.

I'm really missing home and Kari. Last night talking on the phone, Kari told me that the dog is refusing to eat and acting miserable. She did this the last time I came out here for like 4 days. But I'm really worried about my doggie cause she's got this growth on her underside that was very small for about a year or so and now has like exploded into this huge growth, but I don't have the money for the surgery. And Kari's getting worn out from taking care of herself on top of working. If she's tired or something, I'll drive her to work, fix her dinner, fix her lunch... but if she's tired she'll just go to bed skipping dinner. Which I yell at her for, but doesn't get me any where so I have to make sure she eats before going to bed.
I've also learned that our room-mate's boyfriend is smoking on our porch and using my flower pots as his ash tray. I knew he was coming the first, and I was a little weary of knowing I was going to be leaving when he was still there. But apparently our room-mate took off the week from work. I don't care if it's her b/f, I don't like the idea of him being in our house with no one home. I knew there was a reason I didn't like that guy to begin with, and smoking is a big ewww and there's never smoking near my apartment. Even Kari's parent's don't do it near our apartment. It would've been one thing for her to tell me, but she said nothing. And I would've let her know he can smoke outside the front door on the steps or something, but there's never any smoking near our apt. Smoking and Drinking are two big things, and since non of us smoke, and I don't make friends with smokers or let them near my house, I didn't think twice about it.

I like vacations and such, but it just interrupts life so much. And I can't be there to make things right. It's one thing when me and Kari go on vacation together, it's totally wierd for me to be apart.

Tis my rant... please ignore.

dont leave us hanging, how is the couch? sorry couldnt ignore any longer.

I'm sorry about your grandmother. That's very sad. Poor dear.

Is Kari disabled in some way?

OMG! That poor dog:eek: Is there any way you can curtail your vacationing so you can afford proper care for your pet?:confused3 What do you do for a living that you can pick up and fly to help somebody clean their home, yet your dog suffers? :headache: Can you pick up an extra job somewhere so your dog doesn’t have to be neglected? Poor, poor pup :guilty:

Who is Kari and what is her diagnosis? Can you hire a healthcare provider for her?

New rule. Carry onpopcorn::

 I have so many questions but I'll just let it be.

I am kind of bewildered that you would make a nasty comment about how your sister should not have popped out kids that she cannot handle then you go on to complain about your partner not being able to handle one dog.

And Kari's getting worn out from taking care of herself on top of working.

.

Does she have some illness that causes her to tire because of working?
:confused3
Why would you yell at your roomate if she doesn't feel like eating dinner? This is your roomate-why would you "make sure she eats"??? She's an adult-right?:confused3

Instead of feeling inconvienced by being there, you should feel relieved that you were there when your Grandmother fell. Kari is competent enough to support you both, so she can handle being on her own for a week or two. She will eat when she gets hungry enough.
If it were me, and I didn't have a job or kids or school to go to, I would stay and help out my family. That would also give you more time to do the cleaning you agreed to help with.

Opps - I missed this on first reading,.Your Aunt flew you from Orlando to Texas to clean her apartment?

:confused3

For that amount of $$, she could have hired a service , like "The Maids" a few times. I agree with the above poster-if you don't have any work or school obligations, I'd stay and help your sick family.

I think I'm confused also. I remember reading a thread by the OP about cruddy guest beds a while back. Or am I thinking of someone else? And who is Kari? And is there something wrong with her? I don't get it.

Most of all I'm sad about the poor doggy. :sad1:

Yeah, you're remembering correctly. She's the one who was complaining that people don't have comfy beds for guests. People offered several solutions to her, but they all ended with, "I can't do that because I'm broke." That appears to be her answer to everything, including not having the poor dog taken care of. She's also complained about not being able to find a job because most of her past work experiences ended in her getting herself fired because she couldn't get along with her bosses. Kari is her partner who supports her because she's not really interested in working. It's not her "thing."

OP, have you ever looked into free or reduced fee pet care at a local university?

Some vet programs provide services in order for the students to gain experience. It's something to think about, at least.
