So I go to Curves and today is weigh in day for me. Turns out in the past month I have lost 7 pounds (forgot the inches). total for
4 months 25 pounds and 25 inches. Now I know this is good but I have heard so many more better results. LEt me remind you I am not following anything seriously but I have found my self adjusting to an Atkins type of life style. Every now and then I feel the difference but HONESTLY, no one has noticed. Of course I tell everyone.....lol but still no comments. I am working so hard and really bragging about my success .....lol.... and nothing! Very frustrating. but then again I think about it and I am doing this for me right? If im felling better why should it matter if no one says anything? I dont know just my late night thoughts.......

I have been in your shoes before and all I can say is hang in there. Keep doing what you are doing and then one day magically people will start to notice. A lot of times it is because people see you all the time that they just don't notice the differences.

Congratulations on your success so far.

Try not to let it bother you when other people don't comment on your weight loss. You have done such a good job losing that weight so give yourself a great big pat on the pat and you be proud of yourself :cool1: For what it's worth I know exactly how you feel. I have lost 40lbs and nobody apart from my DH has said anything to me.

asking my pm buddies "When will everyone finally notice??"

of course it's different for everyone, depending on how much overall you lose, but hang in there. A few weeks after I thought folks should see the comments began. A few trickled in and then a bombshell or remarks. There are still a few friends who never said anything at all. Maybe it's hard for others to talk about who need to change their way of eating? I agree that people who see you regularly won't notice as easily too.

Funny thing was, once they started to notice, I really didn't want to talk about it anymore! I think it clicked and became just who I am now and I didn't want to draw attention to who I used to be.

BTW - I think you look fantastic!

Hey, Renee!

Yes, you are doing this for yourself! Sorry that other people aren't being very supportive of you, but you can't let that stop you or discourage you! We know that every pound or inch lost is a GREAT victory! Congratulations to you for exercising at Curves and for making healthier food choices!!!!!

That's 25 pounds GONE FOREVER! 25 inches that will forever be melted away from your body!

Woo-hoo! You've got to celebrate as much as you can! Be proud of yourself regardless of what anyone else says. We're proud of you!!!

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I find that for the people who see you most every day, it takes new clothes for them to notice! When I pull stuff out of the closet I haven't worn for a couple years, people at work will say "Cute top" then pause and say "Are you loosing weight?"

I'm an apple shape and started out as a big round ball, now I'm a slightly smaller round ball. I really don't expect people to notice till that majical day when I actually start to go IN in the middle! (You know, like a girls normally do?!) So, I guess I'm looking forward to the day when I'm at least a 'sausage' instead of an 'apple'.......then some day.....hourglass!

Wiskband,
OMG, 7 pounds in a month is awesome. 25 pounds is so fabulous! Can I just say can't see you, but I know you look great and feel great.

I agree with the last poster, what made the difference for me was clothes. When I stopped wearing my baggy clothes, and went and bought clothes that fit........I started getting so many compliments.

Plus, everyone looses weight differently. Some people, loose it in places that don't show right away. Don't feel discouraged, you know what you have done and that's all that counts. I promise, just give it time and eventually you will knock everyone's sock's off.

Keep up the great work, and go get yourself a new outfit or two. It will do wonders for you. Just make sure you don't buy them baggy. Don't hide yourself, but rather show yourself off!

Melanie

Have you ever seen what 5 lbs of fat looks like?

5lbs_fat.jpg

And just think, you have lost *FIVE* of those. :) Be proud of yourself and keep on keepin on.

No one noticed my weight loss until I had lost about 30 pounds. I think some people don't mention things like that because they think it is rude...too personal. I don't mean real friends and family, I mean coworkers and friendly acquaintances. Especially if they have never had to lose weight. It's something I've noticed with my husband's colleagues, anyway.

They will notice, eventually. You've lost 25 inches, for heaven's sake, they will notice.

You're doing a wonderful job with your new healthy lifestyle. You know that you're healthier. Don't let the lack of comments sabotage your positive attitude.

We're all proud of you. You look mahvalus dahling!

It's funny how some people want to talk about it and others don't. I work in a HS, & the women want to know how I'm doing this, but I think the men are intimidated to comment to a woman on her weight loss - even though it's a good thing.
Hang in there - you know that you're doing this for you - the compliments will come later. (I agree, when I started buying clothes in a smaller size - people noticed!)

Had to reply to your post (even though I lurk around here -- embarrassed that I STILL haven't committed to some sort of plan, but that's a whole other ball of wax). CONGRATULATIONS on your fabulous loss. All those pounds and inches! Incredible.

I think people may not comment about your incredible loss if they see you each and every day. You don't get the "shock" factor. With healthy and gradual loss you don't really notice. I know a woman at my office has been eating right and going to the gym since the beginning of the year. Because it's been over a long time, it's hard to see how far she has come (except for the fact that she's wearing some really great new clothes). However, just the other day I was showing someone a commercial we had made back in 1998 and there she was. What a difference! What I couldn't see on a day to day, I could see looking back at the old video.

Again, congratulations. I just started doing Contours Express (similar to Curves -- but different! ;) ). Been doing it for 2 weeks now and though I don't always like going, I do like the way I feel after I've gone. And though I'm not on an eating plan, I am TRYING to be better (and rarely succeeding). Hopefully Contours will do for me what Curves did for you.

Keep up the great work. And be proud!

Nobody really said anything to me until I had lost about 25 pounds or so and then my parents said that I looked really different in a photo I sent them! After that my co workers started to comment as well...I do believe it is different for everyone! :) Keep up the great work though..7 pounds in a month is fabulous!! :)

First of all, congratulations on the pounds and inches lost, YOU know you're lookin' good so that is what matters most!! People will notice and start commenting soon I'm sure. If not, you need some new friends and relatives ;) just kidding!!

I work in a restaurant and we have a lot of "regulars" who see me once or twice a week so haven't commented on my weight loss, but those folks who haven't been back for awhile have started to notice.

It's true, you might lose weight in weird places that aren't as noticeable too. I lost weight in my wrists, of all places!!!
I can finally wear a watch with a clasp instead of an adjustable band!! :teeth: Otherwise I probably wouldn't have even noticed myself that I was losing weight/inches in my wrists.

Hang in there, you'll start getting complimented SOON and that will keep you even MORE motivated!! ((hugs))

I run the message board for a certain low glycemic way of eating and one of the lady's who is a regular poster there got that pic from her endocrinologist. The actual object is in the endo's office. It is a model of what five pounds of fat looks like.

Yucky, huh?!

Geez, I've been doing Curves and eating low fat for 2 months and somehow I've gained 10 pounds!

Don't feel bad, sounds like you are doing terrific! :)
