Digital Camera experts.........What is your opinion of this model by Ricoh, available through QVC. If it doesn't take you to it, the item number is E17358.

I saw it on air last night and it was on 4 Easy Payments, which suits my budget.

Is it priced right and are the features advanced enough that I wouldn't feel outdated in a few years?

Thanks :D

I found this review of the Ricoh RR30. Tell me if the photo quality in the images posted looks as bad as the reviewer thinks. I think they are decent shots and the color looks fine to me.

FYI - This would be our first digital camera.

Very informative Evil Emporer. I have more reading to do, but have learned enough for one night. Thank you.

I am not a fan of mini memory cards, mainly because if you do want to update to a better camera, you may find your choices either limited or you have to buy more memory cards. Compact Flash cards are much more ubiquitous.

It also depends on what you want to do with the pictures. if all you will be doing is looking at them on your computer and emailing them, then you will be fine.

If you plan to print 8 x 10s then you might need more camera.

That's the sort of response I'm looking to get, TheLionKing. Than you for you input.

I don't understand why there needs to be 3 types of media storage for digital cameras.I do understand more since I read Zurg's info provided via the link in his reply to this thread.

Why don't they standardize it to one format..........back to Zurg and his previous ownership of the Beta video. They don't have three types of storage for computers....well there are two but pc's are built with both the floppy and CD-ROM. My concern would be that eventually one of more would become obsolete and I'd be stuck with the form that is no longer used or available.

I agree very much with TLK on the media thing. And compact flash does seem to be most prevalant, at least currently. Make sure to check the various review links provided in Zurg's piece on Deb's site. Very good resources and always up to date. Good luck.

"Very good resources and always up to date."

LOL Dan I havn't updated it in a long time , but I did try to write basics that would stand up.

The memory thing is a tough issue. Compact flash is the most common but do you get CFI or CFII or CFII with microdrive support?

I wouldn't let the memmory issue swing me from a camera I like.

I would try to think about the think I want the camera to do and get those functions. The key is to learn what options exist. Only after I had a feel for that would I start shopping for a camera. It is way too easy to be sold what someone is selling vs buying to meet your needs, particularly when funny vocabulary come into play.
