Our third trip to DL is coming up in April. We've always just floated through the parks and eaten wherever we find ourselves when hunger strikes...and we've had a few hits and a few misses.

I'd love to know from the regulars, what's your favorite place for lunch in DL? What about DCA? Downtown Disney?

Same question for dinner! What's your fave in each location?

Any snacks that are not to be missed?

Thanks for any tips!

Favorite place to eat at Disneyland is Hungry Bear, hands down. Not only do they have good food, and something kids can eat, you throw down french fries and feed the ducks.

For California Adventure, it would be the Pilots Grill. I love the feel of it, that's enough for me.

For snacks, churros are always a must have :D

You will most likely think i am absolutely crazy but at night at the plaza inn on the end of mainstreet is a pasta place. They have a bolognese(SP?) sause with pasta and a breadstick, i look forward to it each trip! It's absolutely the best hands down for me. Others.....now they dissagree. LOL

I love the steak gumbo at Royal St Veranda! Super yummy!!!

Not too crazy about the counter food in DCA. TPG hamburgers were disgusting in Dec, but they were mass producing them with the crowds and tasted re-heated.

The taqueria in DTD was good. Loved thier nachos!!!

We like the burgers at DCA's Taste Pilots Grill. AT DL we most often choose Redd Rocket's Pizza Port. Sometimes Hungry Bear. Sometimes hot dogs at Coke Corner.

We like Rain Forest Cafe in DTD.

We really loved the Jazz Kitchen at DTD. The food was so good & the service was great.

In the main Disneyland park, I love the Blue Bayou for a main meal.

In California Adventure (hope this counts ;)) I love either Napa Rose or Storytellers.

In DTD, I'd have to go either for the jazz kitchen or Rainforest Cafe.

I can't really advise on lunch - it's quite rare for me to lunch in DL (or in the US in general) :thumbsup2

If you're looking for on-the-fly counter service my choice is Rancho in DL (love the chicken caesar!) and Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA (love the broccoli cheese bread bowls).

Hands down favorite lunch is at Cafe Orleans, French Onion Soup or Pomme Frites, Monte Cristo Sandwich and Mickey Beignets, split between two. We have to choose either the soup or the fries because both are too much!

However, also very nice is splitting the Chicken Dinner and Cobb Salad at the Plaza Inn. Also like the Bacon Wrapped Asparagus at the Bengal Barbeque and the Gumbo in the breadbowl at NO Square.

I really miss the Corn Dog Palace in DCA, but until they fininsh the Little Mermaid Ride that is closed.

Favorite dinner, Chef's table at Napa Rose Restaurant, again splitting, this time the Vintner's Menu but we usually add in a cup of their mushroom soup or an appetizer, or another dessert.

Carnation Cafe on Main Street in DL is great for breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert-only. They have a yummy meat loak stack and the Matterhorn sundae and apple pie a la mode are great! Plus, people love the loaded baked potato soup.

Goofy's Kitchen is my favorite for breakfast/brunch.

I also like Plaza Inn on Main Street.

Wine Country Trattoria in DCA is great for lunch or dinner - delicious meatball sandwiches and orange sorbet.

Bengal BBQ is good for lunch or a snack - good skewers.

Blue Ribbon Bakery is good for treats - yummy, delicious cinnamon rolls and other goodies.

Taste Pilots Grill in DCA was good when I ate there in December 2008, but at that time they still served the criss cut fries, and now they don't. Maybe the food quality has diminished since 12/08.

Storytellers Cafe in the GCH is great for lunch or dinner - they have delicious spaghetti!!

Many people love White Water Snacks in the GCH, but I have never tried it.

I love Rainforest Cafe, Naples Ristorante and ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney for lunch or dinner.

For us, we never miss White Water Snacks in the Grand Californian! :thumbsup2 popcorn::

Very accessible for DCA and some of the best food for reasonable prices. And they definitely have items that you are not going to find at every other CS in the park! We love the nachos!

We haven't had much luck finding good food at Disneyland. For dinner, we usually eat at La Brea. They are famous down here in LA for their breads and they don't disappoint. Just make sure you sit on the restaurant side (although the quick service side has good sandwiches and salads as well). The only drawback is the food seems re-heated. But the quality and flavor of the food is very good. We have never been disappointed at Bengal BBQ. The chicken and steak skewers are flavorful and freshly made. The veggie skewer is cooked al dente. Yummy. The clam chower and chili in the bread bowl (in New Orleans square under Pirates - not sure of the name) is pretty good on a cold day. We've also enjoyed Rancho del Zocalo next to BTMRR and my husband swears by the steak and chicken salads at the Jazz Kitchen.

I know some people swear by Storytellers, but we just had the dinner buffet a couple weeks ago and were very disappointed in the lack of variety and the quality of food for the price. Maybe the regular restaurant menu is better? Also, the Plaza Inn breakfast was nearly inedible so I'd stay away from that.

I've found the food at Disneyland to be on a pretty even par. So we tend to eat at the less expensive places only because paying more doesn't mean better food in our experience. I realize some people don't care about the food as much as the experience and ambiance of the place, so others will be able to guide you better as far as that goes.

As far as snacks - the breads at La Brea are to die for. Fresh sourdough with a slab of butter and I'm in heaven. They have lovely pastries as well (esp. the cinnamon bun). The tiger butter fudge is really good at the candy store on main street. And, of course, what is a Disneyland visit without a churro? The pommes frites at Cafe Orleans are pretty good, too, (although I miss the McDonald fries!) and I liked their beignets better than the ones at the Jazz Kitchen.

Sorry this is such a war and peace response! Hope it was helpful.

I agree about the buffet at Storytellers - and that goes for breakfast as well as dinner (when the dinner buffet is offered, that is, which is not year-round). I think it is too expensive for what is offered. Storytellers' buffet is too limited. (While the Goofy's Kitchen buffet has tons of choices.) However, at breakfast at Storytellers, the buffet was $22.99, and the menu dish I wanted was $17.99, so, in that case, the buffet - small though it may be - made more sense than paying $17.99 for the American breakfast option, or whatever it was called, since it was just the difference of $5.

BUT, I do like the regular menu items at Storytellers quite a bit - for lunch and dinner, which are more reasonably priced for what they are than the breakfast items, I think. I tell you, that spaghetti with the chunks of garlic and herbs was so good, as was the garlic bread that came with it. My only complaint was that it wasn't a bigger serving because it was so yummy!!;)

Thanks, Sherry E! I'll have to go back sometime and give the regular menu a try.

Agree with PP about the nachos at TJ's Taqueria in DTD. We like the nachos at Whitewater, but lately they've been skimping on the toppings. The Taqueria loads their nachos with tons of toppings! We also always get a Jalapeno cheese filled pretzel in DL and Dole Whip next to the Tiki Room for quick snacks, and I may be the only person on the planet who likes the Raspberry flavor shot Coke at the Coke Corner on Main Street. We love the baked potatoes and chili lime corn on the cob at the Troubadour Tavern. The PCH Grill for dinner is never crowded (at least when we go), the service is always terrific and the prices are reasonable for a relaxing table service meal at the end of the day.
