My daughter, granddaughter & I went for a three generation trip. This included doctor's appointments for Natalie, (my granddaughter-14 yo).

We got to our resort the afternoon of 12/9. We had thought about going to Disney Springs but opted not to. On Tuesday, we had a bit of a lazy day so that we would be good to go for the MVMCP that night.

I haven't been since 2014 when Natalie was 4. We had no set plans and opted to play it by ear. This made it easy to make changes to what we wanted to do. We hit every cookie station and got all the different cookies. I loved the hot chocolate this year. It was very creamy and didn't seem watered down as it was in 2014. While I am not a apple cider person, the apple cider that was offered was very nice. We had tins to put all our cookies in and that worked great.

We went on the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Seven Drawfs Mine Train and then Nicole (my daughter) and I went on Tron. We did shopping at different places and had a good time not rushing from place to place to get on rides.

At the end of our night Nicole wanted to get the candied popcorn at the confectionary and I wanted to look at the Emporium. I slipped across the street to the Emporium as the parade started to come down Main Street. I had to wait to cross until after the Princess float went by. After crossing, I was walking by the Town Square Theatre and saw Elena of Avalor. I stopped and got a few pictures with her and then met up with Nicole & Natalie. We got to the busses before the rush and that was great.

On Wednesday, we did a bit of shopping and then went to Jollywood Nights. It ended up being colder than we expected so I had to get another jacket to go over my tank, shirt and sweatshirt. We already had gloves & I had a scarf. We did Rockn' Rollercoaster and walked right on to that. I wanted to see Phineas and Ferb and so Nicole & Natalie went to get the Gertie cookies. It was about 30+ minutes, but I was fine other than being cold. We did some shopping and then called it a night.

The only thing that stood out was the fact that we were asked to show our party band approx 18 times just in the short time we were there. At the beginning of Hollywood Blvd, at the top of Hollywood Blvd, at the start of Sunset Blvd and down near Rockn' Rollercoaster and coming back to Hollywood Blvd. I was checked heading toward Phineas & Ferb and Nicole & Natalie were checked going to Gertie's and coming back. Each time we went into a store or came out, they were checked. We were barely there 2.5 hours.

Thursday we spent time at Disney Springs doing the Christmas Tree Stroll and a later hit some of the resorts that had Gingerbread houses.

Friday we did Animal Kingdom and got to ride most of the rides that we wanted to do, plus we went to Animal Kingdom Lodge to see the Gingerbread Animals.

Saturday was another day to look at the Gingerbread displays at Boardwalk, Yacht Club & Beach Club resorts and the Christmas Tree at Wilderness Lodge. We went to Magic Kingdom that night and had a great time. We did Pirates of the Caribbean, Jingle Cruise, Big Thunder Mountain and the Haunted Mountain. Got a three generation silhouette done at the end of the night.

Sunday we did Epcot. We went to the Garden Grill for breakfast that we picked to be able to get into the Candlelight Processional that evening. We got on Soarin' right after because of the short wait time and then did the Journey of Water walk-thru.

We went back to the resort for a short rest before going back for the Candlelight Processional. I have always wanted to see it with Gary Sinise as the narrator. This was his first time back after 5 years. He was very humble at the end and spoke about how much joy it brought him seeing his family in the audience and how he loved being a narrator. He mentioned the Gary Sinise Foundation and how they had families of fallen soldiers and first responders on their Christmas trip planned by the foundation.

After that we got did the Epcot Cookie Stroll and then got our gift at the end. We finished the night by going on Journey into Imagination.

We returned home on Monday.

Here is my only other complaint besides the band checking at Hollywood Studios.

My granddaughter & I were both on scooters. While I have complained about people on scooters and with strollers, I can now give my perspective of being on a scooter.

There were so many times that people were not paying attention and would cut right in front of me that I had to try and stop quickly. Scooters do not stop completely once you let go of the accelerator handle.

Going through the stores on Main Street I almost hit a young boy as he ran in front of my because he wasn't paying attention.

When we were in Animal Kingdom, I almost took out two children from the same family because of the same reason and because they were messing about and not listening to their parents.

At the Boardwalk Resort, one little girl had crossed my path with lots of room, next thing she cut directly in front of me to run to her grandpa with something.

I don't know how many times people ended up between my granddaughter and myself because of drifting or being on their phone. Being on the phone was the biggest problem. People would be on their phone, not watching where they were going and I had to try and stop or get around them.

When we were at Epcot in front of the American Pavilion, trying to get to the line for the cookies there, I had to go into where the tables were and could find no way around the tables that was clear enough for me to get through and there were about 5 people standing in the only area that was wide enough to get through. I asked them nicely if they could move so I could get through.

Some people were very attentive and would give us room or would hold doors for us. I noticed this more near the end of our trip than at the beginning. But it wasn't just kids who would jump or run past us, it was adults as well. Trying to get to Pirates on our second MK night, a guy practically jumped over me. Everyone was getting ready for the Fireworks

I was being extra cautious because this was my first time using a scooter. I hit the back of my granddaughter's scooter or the poles in the lines a number of times, but I did not hit anyone. Not because I wasn't paying attention. I could have easily taken out about 5 kids and some adults, but it was only because I was being cautious and constantly watching for others around me that I didn't hit anyone.

Now before anyone asks why my 14 yo granddaughter was on a scooter it is because of a number of reasons. My granddaughter has been diagnosed with the following:
Autoimmune Syndrome
Gastro Paresis
Sjogren's Syndrome with keratoconjunctivitis sicca
Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS)
Feeding intolerance
Autoantibody titer positive
Hashimoto's thyroiditis
hypersomnia
and finally Impaired Thermoregulation - this means her body cannot control it's temperature.

When she would go to doctors appointments they would take her temperature as soon as they got in a room and it would be normal. When the doctor would come in, he would say she was warm and they would check it again, and she would have a raised temperature.

They did some testing to see what types of things she couldn't tolerate and there were more thing she couldn't eat than what she could eat. Also her legs get extremely sore if she walks for a long time. She has been home schooling the last couple of years and has been doing well with that.

Could you please add some more spaces to your post. It's hard to read the big blocks of text.

Your stories of people jumping in front of your scooter, it a great example of why just saying get a scooter for grandpa , it's easier, doesn't always work. Takes a lot concentration to be aware all day with driving. Several years ago, I saw a grandpa parking a scooter near stroller parking and meant to move just a bit closer, but instead plowed into row of stroller, shoving them a few feet.

We saw Christmas processional twice (from outside the ropes) we saw Brandon Frasier. Had no idea who was speaking, just wanted to hear the music. Gary Sinise sounds like a good speaker.

I fixed my post, so it is. Not all long paragraphs.
I can see how that grandpa could run into the strollers, there were a couple of times, I used the accelerator, when I should have just let go. Those times are when I hit poles in the line (basically doing a u-turn into the next lane) or I bumped my granddaughter.

Gary Sinise was a really good narrator. He has a very clear and easy to hear.

At one point while on the scooter, I felt I needed to have a sign that said “scooters don’t stop on a dime. Watch your children and legs if you are walking in front of me.”

There were times that we didn’t use the scooters. For the week, I walked 52,287 steps overall. Just over 10K were on the first day in Gainesville. I lost 5 lbs.

One thing I would do differently, is the dining plan. We got the quick service and I really don’t eat a lot, so sometimes I was just getting good snacks. We ended up with left over entrees. If we do it again, I would go with the entree and eat what I can. But also get snacks like grapes or a banana.
I don’t drink soda much any more, mainly sweet tea. They do carry a sweet tea that I do like at the resorts.

Thanks for the report. I follow your daughter’s FB page. I didn’t realize you were there during my trip (12/8 thru 12/12). We stayed at CSR and that’s where Gary Sinse had most of his events for his charity. I did some reading about it. Truly amazing!

Did Nicole know you were going to be done there when we were?
I heard something about Gary Sinise running into a wall somewhere, possibly somewhere at CS. The wall was black and he couldn't see it in the dark.

No, she didn’t know. I don’t really say that much on the page.
Oh no, I hope Gary was ok. If I’m being honest, I could run into him and not know who he is!
