I watched that BBC 4 programme about My Travel and wasn't too impressed but I've just seen a good price on their website so was wondering what everyone thought about them? TCD is about £200 more. Virgin via Expedia was about £400 more but has just doubled in price!

We didn't book with My Travel last year but, were flown on one of their planes and it wasn't so bad. It was pretty no frills but i had no complaints. I would fly with them again

I flew with them last year and I've booked again with them this year as I've saved so much money.

I agree with the previous poster. The flights were no frills and the food unexciting, but they did at least have seatback TVs and we flew in relative comfort.

I didn't find them any worse than the other charter airlines.

Just seen the same price as My Travel on Cosmas website this includes Monarch flights and meals inflight. Any thoughts on which ones better?

both are rated pretty much the same, if you happen to get one of MYtravels newly refitted planes (and who knows what may happen with the new merger!) you'll be laughing, other than that theres not mush to choose between them. Save your self some pennies and go with whichever is cheapest

Thanks Carol, I'm hoping to have booked before Sunday, DBF is close to giving in!

From what I've read...not through experience. The monarch planes don't have seatback TV's?! and I don't think they have the same seat pitch.. but I could be wrong, having never flown with them..
Just don't think the Monarch flights are the same spec as the My Travel flights.

Thanks for that Tracy. I think My Travel it is.

never watched the programme but just wanted to say we booked again for this year having travelled with them last 2 years and they were fine.

Been a few times with MyTravel and all okay. The best flight though was in their own plane which had a seat back tv. The other times we booked with MyTravel but the carrier they used was Monarch. Monarch was perfectly okay but didn't have seat back tvs. I would check on the website who is actually flying you, sometimes MyTravel and other tour operators will all book the same plane, hence loads of different tour operators on our flights. I think tour operators tend to use their own often better planes at more busier airports. We fly from Newcastle so typically we get a Monarch plane instead of a MyTravel one.

Thanks for that info, I will double check. I will be flying from Gatwick so fingers crossed it will be a My Travel plane.

Hi Ive flown both Monarch and MYTravel - both in their premium cabin.

Monarch long long delays 11hrs going 5 hrs coming back - very bad customer service - kept getting fobbed off at the airport

Mytravel on the other hand very positive experience - arrive 1 hr ahead of time and despite coming back on the day when USA was in Red alert because of the liquid problem last Aug. Great customer service.

As a result we would fly Mytravel again - Never fly monarch again

Thanks I am def going to book with My Travel although I have got questions about the car hire small print in another thread if anyone can help with that.

I'm really worried now, we are booked to fly with MyTravel in August and according to my documents it is a MyTravel plane we are travelling on. Can they change the plane though without notifying us?
We are flying from Glasgow and I'm really concerned about delays, if Monarch is bad for delays, I'm really worried. I fly out on the 16th of August and am due to arrive at 13.30 and I get married on August 17th at 10.00am.

Any airline can change your plane at any time (even if you are booked with BA, your flight could be cancelled and you could be put on a VS plane instead - anything can happen...)

Getting married the morning after you arrive is VERY tight. It is not uncommon for flights - especially charters - to get dellayed (sometime's that day's flight is cancelled completely and you are put on the next day's flight - so a 24 hour delay). Am not saying that to scare you, but if there is any option for making the wedding a day or two later. it might be wise.

Any airline can change planes at any time it is the small print. Usually though you would stick with the same carrier so I would expect your plane to stay a MyTravel one.

We have travelled with Monarch in 2005 and 2006, no flight delays in 2005 but in 2006 a two hour one going. All airlines can have delays, I know, not so long ago on these forums I was reading about quite long delays on scheduled Virgin flights. At the end of the day, I would rather have a delay than travel in an unsafe plane.:)

I understand your anxiety about getting to Orlando in time for your wedding and hopefully you will be able to fly out a few days earlier.
