Just back from a week at SSR....
1BR....corner room 4th floor...congress park....
awesome location...Room was ready at 11am checkin.....

Cast member did a great job....they tried to put me 1st floor
paddocks.....after she saw my face.....this unbelievable room
turned up.....I just don't like ground floor rooms:confused3

Easy walk to DTD and high rock pool.....

I am very happy I bought DVC.....I did not miss the maid service....
in fact it was nice not to have to wonder when they were coming...
Loved my big coffee maker....
Maintenance man came right away to fix the bathroom
exhaust fan and override A/C....
Room condition was very good.....besides Bathroom fans....

We are going to the BC in Aug......now I know not to leave that place when I go....WORST TRANSPORTATION......from DTD.....
I mean 5 deluxe resorts on memorial day weekend and 1 bus:scared1:
Got on at DTD....then
typhoon lagoon, boardwalk, swan, dolphin, yacht club....
1hr later the BEACH CLUB....what's up with that:confused3
Then going home a bus that was full pulled up let 2 people out....
and kept going.....OK...thats when i hail a cab....

That was the worst part of my trip.....and it wasnt that bad....just
I thought a little ridiculous to have 1 bus....

Anyway.....I can see addonitis coming my way....
Oh....does anyone else think those balcony doors at SSR are
really heavy....
Peace
Kerri

Kerri....glad that your first trip was a winner! And it is always nice when the above comment is the feeling of a DVC owner after making the first DVC trip. Just a great feeling that yeah, it was a wonderful decision that you can enjoy for several decades!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and impressions, and enjoy your BC trip later this summer. :)

We stayed at SSR Congress Park a year ago with a view of the pool and loved it! However that bus ride.... at least you got on at DTD. We got on at SSR.... went to DTD then the loooooong ride to the Beach Club as we were switching resorts. :sad2: I never would have boarded the first bus had I known!

Next time I will just take the bus to MGM and then take the boat or walk to the Beach Club, or take a cab. An hour on the bus for 5 miles was too much for us!

We took our first DVC trip to SSR this past weekend too! We were on the second floor in Congress Park. Loved the location, room and resort. Dh and I toured the AKV model and are already discussing when we'll be adding on. :)

And yes those balcony doors are really heavy. But I liked knowing that there was no way my six year old could get it open.

Yes....I was really happy my DD could not open it.....
However I think I pulled a back muscle opening it for her
every 5-10 min:lmao:

We stayed at BW Memorial Day week in 2006 so I completely sympathize with you

We too are DVC owner's of SSR. We made our first trip home last October and are going back in August of this year. If you loved the 1 BR villa's, you would go nuts for the grand villa!! We took my retired mom and dad down with us in October. They have always been very money cautious. Growing up we stayed a lot in hotel 6's, or we went camping. To see my parent's expression when they walked into the Grand Villa, was priceless!! My mom started to cry and said " oh my gosh, what did we ever do to deserve this:) "
It felt so good, to be able to give back to them in this way. They had never been to Florida or Disney World. We took them on the Disney Magic Cruise in 2005 and they now have the "bug" so to speak. SSR is so beautiful and it is such fun to be a DVC member ! Enjoy your membership!!

Until about a year ago they used to have fireworks at DTD at midnight every day. They took this into account when building SSR and used construction materials designed to insulate rooms from the noise. Perhaps that's part of the reason for the weight.
