First of all, thanks to all of the Designers who take so much time to help those of us who don't/can't design things!!! :thumbsup2 You guys/girls ROCK!

Okay, so I started this t-shirt journey some time ago and decided to do a test run at Halloween with a shirt for my DH. I went to Michael's and bought a shirt and some transfer paper - Wilton Brand. Followed the directions on the package and the directions on the thread How to do Iron on Transfers. The Wilton brand transfers were a DISASTER!! My iron left spots on the design where the steam holes are and one of the shirts bled. I rinsed them in vinegar water and dried them and the design cracked and didn't look fresh and vibrant anymore.

So, I re-read the original thread and decided to try HP transfers. I ordered them from the website and got the buy 2 get one free offer with free next day shipping. I made a mistake and ordered the transfers for white shirts. I called HP customer service and told the rep and he credited me the money I spent on the transfers and didn't need me to send them back! Couldn't believe it. I ordered the transfers for dark colored shirts and was in business.

Started printing out my designs and only made 1 mistake for 35 shirts. Pretty good! I have an extra Star Wars Lego design on a spare shirt. :) I printed the designs for the colored shirts on the dark transfer paper and the designs for the white shirts on the light/white transfer paper. Making sure that the designs were flipped for the light transfer paper. I let the designs sit for a day just to make sure the paper/ink was very dry.

Spent 3 days ironing the designs on my 35 shirts, being sure to closely follow all directions. I let them sit for several days to set the colors and just started rinsing them in vinegar and water.

Well - my conclusions - The light/white transfers were not as sturdy as the dark transfers. The light transfers split and some peeled up on the edges. When I ironed them after they came out of the dryer they brightened up some and the transfers re-adhered to the shirts. But, the shirts look "worn" or like they have been washed a few times. The dark transfers are fantastic! They didn't split or crack and still look just as vibrant and good as they did before I rinsed them in vinegar.

The t-shirt on the left was made with transfer paper for dark colored shirts, the tee on the right was made with white/light color transfer paper. Both were printed using the same printer and rinsed in vinegar in the same washer and dried in the same dryer. Use the dark transfer paper!

The only complaint I have about the dark transfer paper is that it is hard to cut around the designs, especially if the design is not symmetrical or doesn't have a border. It is easier to cut around the light/white transfers because they "disappear" when you iron them on a white shirt.

All in all, I am very happy with the shirts and very grateful for the designs and help I received here. I will post pictures as soon as all of the shirts are out of the dryer! :rolleyes1 We leave in 8 days and are really looking forward to wearing our shirts at Disneyland.

Well I am finally finished with my shirts and wanted to send out a big THANK YOU to the designers who do such a great job. We are looking forward to wearing our shirts in a little over a week. I took some pics (okay, DH did!) and finally know how to post them. I don't know how to make them the right size :confused3 but at least they are posted.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

Those look great! I clicked on the thumbnail and then clicked on the image on that page, and I could see them big. :) You put in a lot of hard work, and they turned out wonderful! :goodvibes I love how you used my standing classic Mickey without a name. That was a good idea. :thumbsup2 Have fun on your trip!

That is my DH's absolute favorite pic. I was worried about it being too fuzzy when I resized it but it looks great! Thanks a bunch!
