My stuff is missing from UPS

I moved to a new home a couple of months ago. Since our move, I am missing 3 packages that were delivered into the OKC UPS site that did not make it to me, all from different shippers. A Coach purse "was delivered" to my doorstep, supposedly. I was not working on the day it was delivered and UPS comes at the same time most always.

A Halo game from Wal Mart was delivered to OKC, then went "missing."

Today, I check on a package (one of two) and the UPS website says "it is damaged." I called them and the first girl said the item is damaged and has been returned to shipper. She was not very friendly so I called back. The 2nd girl said that the item "fell out" and was damaged and the box discarded. I told her it was clothing and could not have been damaged. She said Oh, let me send you to the damage department. The 3rd girl was very hateful to me and immediately tells me to call the shipper with questions. I told her I had not even told her what my issue was and I wanted to know if they were looking for my package. She said No, they are not looking for it, it is damaged, and to call the shipper. I told her that clothing should not be damaged and was delivered to OKC fine. She said that I would get refund from the shipper. I told her I bought the items over a week ago during a terrific sale, and they may not have my sizes or items in stock. She said "that's not our problem, you need to talk to shipper." I asked to speak to someone else and she said someone will call me Monday.

I just emailed the shipper and asked if they had the items in stock and could resend, hopefully they can.

Question....When a shipper's site shows they only use a specific carrier, in this case UPS, can you request it to be sent through another? I really don't want another thing coming through UPS.
Thanks.

It sounds like you have a neighbor who is stealing from your doorstep. Yes, this happens.

If the company only uses UPS- ask that they deliver it to your work or to a local UPS hub/store... or don't buy from that company. Problem solved.

I agree with the last Poster- Hassle YES, but start having Pkgs shipped ELSEWHERE- either a Job or postal Hub or a friend............I would also make sure you ALWAYS have a SIGNATURE required for ALL pkgs and that they are No longer allowed to leave them on your steps/ porch!

GOOD LUCK

The Halo game went missing from their facility and they agreed they did not deliver it. The package today they also agree was their responsibility and it was not delivered. Very frustrating.

I just wanted to make a note - if you have things delivered to your work and the offices uses both a PO Box and a street address (USPS vs UPS-FedEx) make sure you try to get both addresses in your shipping information.

QVC ships UPS - but a different type for small items. It goes only to the local post office & then they deliver it to the PO box or a carrier. USPS has now started charging a forwarding fee if the street only is displayed. They had to move my box from the side counter to the back counter & throw a note in our PO Box to pick it up because it was too big for box. But they charged me a $12 forwarding fee to move it from the one counter to the other. I raised a stink and they would NOT give me the package without paying.

So now I have attempted in most retail online stores to get both on one line - you just have to watch because it sometimes removes part of it & only shows the first thing you typed.

You haven't had three items go missing. You had one item delivered that could have very well been stolen by a third party. You had one item UPS did say go missing. You had a third package that arrived at the facility and was damaged, not "missing".

Clothing can be damaged - caught in the belt and ripped or torn and/or stained with grease.

Some businesses will allow you to choose another carrier. It's automatically listed in the shipping choices.

Other's don't have any other options listed. In that case, I would send them an email before ordering the item and ask if they have other shipping options and explain the situation.
They might make an exception although I doubt it because most companies are set up to ship through either UPS or USPS.

Good luck.

I have never, not one time, had any of the issues the poster has described with UPS so I don't find it strange that she is suspicious. I would be really frustrated and super angry if this happened to me. No matter what each individual circumstance is, either missing or damaged somehow, it's unusual to have it happen three times. Furthermore, rude customer service is unacceptable. If you have the option I would change my mail service provider and I would send a letter to management so they can become aware of the problem. I work for an airline and I know we have had an issue before with theft of items out of luggage. Even when working at great companies some people are just born thieves. So reporting these instances is the only way that companies figure out there is a problem.

It seems fishy to me too, three packages with issues since moving to a new home? I also don't see how a package could have been stolen off the porch when you were home the day it was delivered.

As far as signing for UPS delivery that has to be done on the shippers end because it costs extra. Normally, if no one answers the door it is up to the driver whether or not to just leave the package. In the past, I have had drivers leave packages on the first delivery attempt and others I have had to call the nearest UPS facility to track it down. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, just the whim of the driver that day.

Also, places that ship UPS....ship UPS. You could call an ask them to make an exception but it seems unlikely that they would be able to help you. You might have to just not place any orders with companies that only ship UPS.

I have had a couple of bad experiences with UPS, so I usually will not order anything that I know will be shipped through them. And I am really not surprised that they were rude to you, this seems to be the norm, from what I have seen.

This is the first time we have ever had any problems with UPS. The UPS website said the package was damaged so I called. The first girl told me the item was mailed back to the shipper. The second girl told me that the item broke when it fell off the truck. I told her it was clothing. She then sent me to the 3rd girl who told me to take it up with the shipper. She said that the bag did make it to OKC, but in OKC the bag ripped and the items must have fell out. I told her it was 10 items of clothing, and each are separately packaged within the large bag. I am ordering from woman within, so these are not teeny tiny articles of clothing that someone would miss. WW had a great sale last week where you purchased an item and got the other items for $1.99 each, so I stocked up. This was a "secret five hour sale." I order a lot from them, so I hope they just re-ship the items. I emailed earlier and have not heard from them, but I anticipate they will not have an issue just resending, but I don't know if the clothes I purchased will still be in stock.
I really don't think the purse was delivered to my home, I was expecting it on the day it was supposed to be delivered, and my front door was open. He doesn't come until around 5:30pm and we always try to greet him at the door.
The Halo game they could not find once it got to OKC, and all UPS could say was the package was not insured. Now the very large package is missing, so it really just makes me think someone is taking my stuff. I have received some packages since I moved here. Items 1,2,3 are missing. I didn't get them.

I have a family member that works for UPS your comments have been forwarded to customer relations they take these comments very serious.

Thank you. I tried to email customer service, but their site says I need a user ID and password to send email. Phoning them only caused more frustration. My good friend works for DHL and said it is unlikely that 10 items of clothing disappeared at my local UPS warehouse.

There's usually other shipping options available. If not, ask to ship to a business. Those companies were built upon business rather than the consumer level. It seems doing home deliveries now is beneath them and wastes too much of their time.

I'd try delivering it to work, or asking if you can pick it up at the UPS office.

UPS and FedEx packages are automatically insured up to a value of $100 at no additional charge... so not sure why they would tell you it was not insured. :confused3

File a claim. You can find the information on their website.

My friend at DHL thinks the bag was damaged, and the bag and contents were sent back to shipper. She said they would not have delivered to me if torn too bad because they would not know what was missing from it. That makes sense now that the first girl told me it was sent back and the last girl said they are not looking for it and contact the shipper. She said the clothes must have fell out, but she may have been guessing. I am hopeful now that the bag could easily rip, they sent bag and items back to WW and will be reshipped soon. I don't have an answer for the halo game, but I got a replacement for that. If customer reps were nicer I would not have overreacted, now I feel bad.

Why are so many people being so snippity? It's extremely frustrating/upsetting when this kind of stuff happens.

I fell victim to USPS and their 'damaged' box nonsense. I lost a LOT of things, in that box I still will get upset about if I think about it.

Hell, I leave for Disney in a few weeks, and I keep thinking about the dresses I had in that damn box I could be bringing. :guilty: (See: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2312278)

I'm sorry OP. Good luck to you.

Of course it's possible there might be a thief there. And in that case, each time you've contacted them, I'm sure it's forming a pattern for them.

The reps you talked to were just going by the info they could see. I know perfectly well that different reps can see different things. When I worked at amazon the regular reps would tell our customers ALLLLL sorts of nonsensical things. The ONLY right answer was "call amazon so they can help you" but so few reps there would actually say that. They so often told them to run a trace (which we absolutely did NOT do). The amazon reps had a special phone number at UPS to call, where we got to talk to "our" reps who were specialists in amazon shipments.

Our reps saw different things than the regular reps.

You'd be surprised by what can happen, and how sneaky neighbors can be. New house = new neighbors, and they might very well be criminals. Of course, it's only ONE package that was said to have made it to the door, so there's no pattern of loss at the door (yet).

They almost certainly didn't know until it escalated to someone who could look further.

And contacting the store, especially a big store (vs an etsy seller or something like that), is absolutely the way to go.

I know you would never get anywhere with that buying from amazon, and it's most likely the same case with the OP's store. What services we, as consumers, can buy from UPS are very different than what a huge store can do!

Why put both the PO box number and the street address in the address for UPS delivery? Why not only the street address?

I have to do this, too. As explained by another poster, many UPS items get dropped off at my post office, and we only have a po box with them, no rural delivery. So, if the postmistress is nice (like mine is ;) ), she puts a note in my box since she recognizes my name. If it didn't have both the street address and the po box listed, and there was a substitute postmistress, I might not be so lucky....

I prefer to have my packages delivered by anyone other than UPS.I track the packages online and have waited for them to arrive. The Ups driver always comes by around the same time,
One time he delivered a package from QVC to a house 3 blocks away. The home owner saw my address on the package and delivered it to me.
Two other occasions the packages just went missing.
I think they must play toss the package. I always shudder when the merchant uses UPS.
