I was nervous to spend Spring Break at Disney World, the tales of crowds and heat scared me. But I can happily say that while it was indeed crowded and hot, nothing can diminish the magic of Disney.
Here's my review:
The Great
The case members were amazing. They were friendly, helpful, and kind at every turn, even when dealing with tons of people a few idiots. With the exception of two encounters (see "The Bad") I was in awe of the CM's.
Disney transit really seemed to step up to meet the needs of the crowds. I never waited more than one bus, even at park closing. And buses from the resorts seemed to run very frequently, as well.
The Good
Using fast pass, and not having too many expectations meant we really enjoyed our days. Even getting ADR's last minute wasn't too bad. I think I do prefer a less crowded time of year, but I also wouldn't avoid going back just because it was expected to by busy.
The Bad
As a Canadian, yes, we do have universal health care. And I do realize that in the US you are dealing with issues around your health care system, issues fraught with controversy. But I'm on holiday and really don't want to have a debate about health care. This happened several times, and twice with cast members. I would carefully back out of the conversation each time, once even blatantly saying, "I don't want to talk about it." But it's on people's minds, and some people were determined to not let it go. The most uncomfortable instance of this was standing in line when I couldn't get away.
The Ugly
Okay, please don't take this personally US neighbors, but that stuff you pour on your waffles and pancakes is terrible! It says, "made with maple syrup" but I think they just melted a maple colored crayon in corn syrup...
A quick trip to the Canadian pavilion in EPCOT for some real maple syrup took care of this little problem, so after that first breakfast, everything was grand.
