My 12 yr old DS called me tonight (he lives with my parents because of work) and told me he had a riddle:

Pa-Paw, he and I have something in common.

I didn't have a clue..........

HE HAS A KIDNEY STONE!!!! I have had several and I had a horrible one- BIG- this past summer. I can't believe at the age of 12 he has one. I know from experience that once you have one, you're much more likely to have more (depending on what type it is) Mine is 5% controllable by diet/medicine Not good odds.

Please send PIXIE DUST our way.

Thanks!

Oh no! Tons of get well quick pixie dust headed your way.

I am still in shock that a 12 year old has a kidney stone!

I told my best friend last night that I really think my parents are mistaken and that I am NOT adopted because we have just tooooooooo many things alike :)

Hopefully the other X-ray later today will show he will be able to pass it.

Kirk-

Did you ever pass your kidney stone?

Here's more pixie dust for your son.

Ouch, poor kid.:(

Awwww, the poor kid. :( Hope it goes quickly and is as painless as possible.
Never heard of a child having a kidney stone, either??

Oh your poor son. I hope he can pass the stone. Is he in much pain? I haven't heard of someone that young having kidney stones before:(

Poor guy! Sending PD his way!

It does happen that kids that young get kidney stones. My sister in law had one years ago when she was about that age. She ended up having to be hospitalized for it.

Well, they decided NOT to do an X-ray today, but want him to go tomorrow for an IVP. (put dye in and see it go through) Then they will decide what needs to be done or if he can pass it.

He is all excited that the doctor told him he hasn't had a patient this young before with a kidney stone. What a thing to be hapy about! He had pain medicine at 4am and 10am, but has gone through the rest of the day oksy thus far.

I will let you all know tomorrow what we find out. Please keep the PD coming this way.

Awwww poor little guy! :( I've never had one, but I hear they are no fun!

I hope he keeps feeling pain free through the night and until they can figure out how to treat it. :)

I'll be looking for the update tomorrow. :)

I hate them!!!!!!!!!!!!I still have at least 2 lurking in my right kidney, every now and again this last week they have let me know they are there.

Last attack, the ER siad no more IVP, I got a cat scan, it was fast, painless, and thatss how they saw the one that was working it's way out, and the 2 in kidney.

I hope you son feels good quick, and doesn't have them again. But while not heireditary, they run in families, my brother has had them my younger sister had one once and then me, 3 times so far, and I know it will happen again. They just don't dissappear.

Bless his heart. I hope this kidney stone goes away and he is 100% pain free very soon.

He actually seems to have more energy right now. Of course, when it starts moving again and he is hurting, he might not think it is great.

I can't be with him tomorrow for his IVP. He doesn't mind needles and wil think it is pretty cool except having to lie there. I hope his is a one time only event. Mine sure have not been!

OUCH!!! Oh gee whiz I hope he is feeling soon right quick!

Hope he does well with it, Carol. Kids can really get excited over things we do not, LOL. Let us know how he does.

Poor kid! My prayers and PD!!

I passed 2 small ones earlier this week but still have one giving me trouble.
