I am a nurse at Children's in Philadelphia and have specialized in cardiology so I know how hard it is dealing with all of those surgeries and time in the hospital. It is a full time job. Have a wonderful trip and I can't wait to read all about it.

It has been a difficult road, but we're slowly making progress.

LOL I'll have more pics later lol.

I have more pics of the kids and a few other people. We're still waiting to hear from Ethan's wish volunteers about planning his wish party and getting things in order for that. I don't think I put in here who is volunteers are. We have Jay Wullner and Debra. I don't know/remember he last name. They are the sweetest people. When they came out to do their visit with Ethan they brought some toys for both of my kids, it was AWESOME!!!!!!!! They have been great throughout this whole experience for us. They have answered tons and tons of my questions and my husband's questions. I can't wait to go, I'm so excited lol. I think later this weekend or at the beginning of the week I'm going to sit down with the kids and make the circles/rings to count down the days of our trip. I think the kids would love that. Anyway, here's some more pics.
this is my husband's boss and ethan, the kids call him uncle brett lol

Yes, here I am again. There's so many things to post I keep forgetting to post as to how we came about getting to the MAWF (Make A Wish Foundation).

My husband and I were house sitting and dog sitting for his boss and parents, they went to Italy for 2 weeks. One night we were watching the race while the kids watched cartoons in the bedroom. There was a little boy (about 9 or 10) on there getting his wish to ride in the pace car and meet the NASCAR drivers. If I remember correctly his favorite was Jeff Gordon. Well, I saw the information listed at the bottom of the screen for the MAWF, and I turned to my husband and said maybe we should look into that to see what it's about. He said go for it. He continued watching the race and I headed for the computer. I typed in the website that was shown on TV and I read all the information on their website. Then I found the referral form to refer a child. I figured I'd fill it out and see what happens. Well, we get home the following week and there is an email from one of the MAW team members saying that she would be contacting me within the week to ask me a few questions. At this point I didn't get too excited, because I didn't exactly know the extent as to what you had to have to qualify or what the dr's had to say. The day came that she contacted me on the phone and asked me what was wrong with Ethan and for the dr's information. I talked to her for about an hour I guess. She then told me it would take about 2-21/2 weeks to contact the dr's and get their information about Ethan. I never thought the 2 weeks would come. She then contacted me back telling me that he was approved for the next stage of the MAW process and she would be sending me a packet in the mail for information about the family and about Ethan and his wishes. At this point I was getting excited about it. That following weekend we went camping with the kids. I had to come home on Saturday to get a few things for the boys (I had forgotten them lol) and the packet had came. I brought it back to the camp site with me, and my husband and I read over it. Monday of the next week I got all the paper work finished and in the mail. I don't like to be late with anything. I guess it was about 3 weeks later I got an email from the wish coordinator saying that we were assigned 2 wish volunteers and they would be contacting me to set up a meeting with Ethan and to visit the family. At this point I was massively excited about the whole process. Ethan was due for a back surgery July 11th, and the wish volunteers came out 2 days before his surgery to do their interview with him. It was heart warming to see them and how Ethan reacted to them. 2-21/2 weeks after the interview I recieved an email from the wish coordinator saying that Ethan was medically approved for WDW, reading the email all I could do was cry I was so excited. On 8/25 I received the heartfelt email from his wish volunteers telling me that everything was booked for us to go to WDW November 1-7. And since that day had started off badly all I could do is cry at the good news I just read about. I had gone to the othropedic dr that morning and he told me the only way to fix Ethan's hips was to have yet another surgery on them. This broke my heart again. This surgery will make his 14th surgery. Unless the cardiac team steps in, then he will be having his 3rd open heart surgery. So, this is my story about how the whole MAW trip for us came about. It's awesome. Ethan's been through so much, he deserves a break from all the dr's and therapists. Thanks for reading.

Aren't you glad you were watching that race? Your whole family deserves this trip and a break from all the doctors!

Just fount your PTR and subbed to it. We are waiting on where and when my wish child will be going, he asked for WDW and sigh.. we still have at least two weeks before we hear from the foundation on dates. Ethan is such a trooper.

What a great story.

Thank goodness you were watching the race that day:goodvibes

LOL yes I'm glad we were watching the race. I really didn't want to watch it that day, but God told me to watch it. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I'll be praying for your family to get his wish to WDW, that would be so awesome. I'm still trying to find other wish trippers that are from GA, haven't found any on here yet.

Yes, very glad we were watching the race, because I've honestly never heard of the MAWF before that night. I'm so excited I really don't want to wait anymore, but we have to. 2 months and 1 day to go lol.

Yes, he does need a vacation! He deserves it after going through so much.

lol that's funny. I read that report right before I wrote the story of how we came about the MAW. Thank you for sending it my way though.
