Apparently there was a problem with the earlier thread. I am not in any way trying to sell anything. It's a proud parent boast. My son's band's cd is finally done. You can listen for free here. http://kickinbear.com/Band/Intro.html
It's not for sale there. There music is similar to The Band or Creadance Clearwater Revival.
If you have any music experience or tips on how to get some radio play time pm me. I'd welcome advise and would love to send you a cd, again for free. I am not advertising for their band or expect to get anything. I'm just showing off what my son has done and asking fellow dis'ers for their opinions.

Was going to give it a listen, but after the song starts then it wants your e-mail address so since I didn't want to give it I didn't get to listen. :(

I like them. It is very relaxing.

It might be that you don't have to give your info to hear them on facebook myspace or reverbnation

Glad you like it. My son's band is what is called Roots Rock. They are influenced Wickipedia defines it as Roots Rock is a term now used to describe rock music that looks back to rock's origins in folk, blues and country music.[1] It is particularly associated with the creation of hybrid sub-genres from the later 1960s including country rock and Southern rock,
They are a bluesy type of sound. They are also very critical of much of mainstream music which they don't believe requires much talent since a good deal of it is done in the studio and voices are altered. Most of the singers don't really concern themselves with a band of musicians. They don't hate pop just the stuff they've been forced to listen to for the past ten years or so. Their cd was produced pretty cleanly giving it an almost live feel.
Advisers around them keep urging them to adopt a more pop feel if they want to be successful. Perhaps, but we'll see. I have heard alot of Jack White's new band the Black Keys and they sound similar to my son's stuff.
Thanks for the input.

Thx for sharing, sounds really good :thumbsup2:thumbsup2!! You must be so proud of your son and band! CCR was one of my fave groups way back when! :goodvibes

There so good! I'm seriously thinking of purchasing some songs from itunes! You must be so proud! :thumbsup2

I am. I know they're really good and they work really hard. I hope something happens for them soon. They're opening for Greg Allman's son in a week. Hopefully there will be some press there.

I understand how proud you must be. My husband plays bass, and music has gone down through my son and our grandsons (one of who is minoring in music in college next year, and has played in a band for two years already).
I think they are very good, and I love music we can actually understand, however I'm a big CCR fan and I don't get a CCR connection. Not that that is a bad thing, as I said they are very good :)
I wish them lots of success..my husband being in a great local band sure put the food on our table for many years.

So, sounds like your son found his niche? I remember all your concerns when he was setting off to do this.

I guess he is staying in music for now? Good Luck.:thumbsup2

Sounds great.... a bit like "Widespread Panic".........which one is your son?

When I hear them in person it sounds a bit like CCR but that is probably just me. I am not very musical so this thing skipped a generation because my mother and grandparents and great uncles all are. I'm glad your husband was able to make money at it.

Yep but I'd rather see him in school. He takes 1-2 classes a semester to make me feel better and to work on a back up plan. He works hard but is broke all the time. They take the project seriously. October will be one year when they reevaluate so we'll see.

Oh, my son is the Bassist.
