My Son's Autograph Quilt!

What did you have the squares on while the characters signed them? Did you tape them to heavy cardboard or something?

I really want to do this next month and would love to know how you did this. I though of a clipboard or embroidery hoop. Any tips?

That is such a wonderful idea! I am taking my first quilting class in a few days, but my MIL is an awesome quilter.

did you wash the material before cutting it into the 12x12 squares? Or does it need to be washed one they are cut? Thanks!!

Inquiring minds want to know.

What did you have the squares on while the characters signed them? Did you tape them to heavy cardboard or something?

And, you mentioned fabric markers. Would Sharpies work as well, or would they bleed?

The quilt is beautiful. Wonderful job between you and MIL.

I would love to have a small blanket/throw made like that for our couch. We have so many character autographs on paper and in books. I may copy your idea for the squares this trip. Thanks so much for sharing!!

Two questions, did you wash the material before cutting it into the 12x12 squares? Or does it need to be washed one they are cut? Thanks!!

I did not wash it until after the quilt was made and it's been great!

Wow! This thread had a resurgence - thanks for all of the sweet comments! I would definitely use fabric markers, not sharpies - I was able to get them in an 8 pack for only about $3-4 from my local A.C. Moore.
