I learned a few things about my son while on vacation at POP last week. I observed for the first time his desire to be a "big boy" we were with my sister and her family their kids are 6,4 and 2 the 2 year old is 6 months older than my son but way further ahead in development (I think having older brothers helps her) my son wanted to do everything the big kids did. It was cute but he became quite a handful.
But the worst thing I realized is that my poor son has my coordination.. Boy is he clumsy!!! It became the joke during our trip. He was playing in the goofy fountains and was really interested in the car. He was running near it tripped and fell and hit his head on the chrome at the bottom. He had a very nasty cut and had a lot of blood. Luckily my BIL is an ER Dr. so he checked him out and said that luckily it was a clean cut. He ran to the store and got some butterfly strips and cleaned him up for us. But I would have taken him to the ER if we were not with a Dr. My son ran into anything in his way. He was tough thank goodness but he took some hard falls and major spills. HIs head seemed to take the brunt of it. I have always warned my husband that he could have my athletic ability (which would be none)but more poor husband held out hope that our son would be the next star. We will have to see but I am begining to think he might keep the bench warm like his mommy did. Poor little guy!!

Maybe it will pass :thumbsup2 We used to call my son "Crash" and the first thing we did when we went to a hotel or on a camping trip was to identify the nearest ER and get directions. He's 6 now, and does much better.

Aww, poor little guy. :guilty:

My DS13 was the same way. I swear, from the time he started walking until he was 5, he had a permanent goose egg on his forehead. One of his first sentences was "I'm OK!" :)

Seems like my DS2 is following in his footsteps, although he tends to get more cuts and less bumps!

My youngest DD had the nickname "Bonk" for the same reasons - it turned out she had a problem with depth perception, which was 80% fixed by eye surgery.

My kids are just like my wife but my DD is the tough one. She bumped her head when she feel up my MIL and got a big goose egg on her forehead over the weekend and everyone freaked out but the DD and me. She cried for a min or two but was more upset with everyone elses reaction. Glad to hear your boy is doing good. I got hit under the eye with a wooden baseball bat when I was starting kinder school and have the small scar for conversation. The DS has a nice little scar on his eyebrow from falling when he was a baby.

Little guys aren't known for their motor skills, poor thing! I'm glad you found the butterflies... With 3 boys, I keep a couple in my purse at all times!

My daughter who is 5, isn't very graceful either. At one of the resorts, she hurt her foot, on the playground. I really didn't think anything of it, the next day at Epcot, I noticed she was limping and complaining of pain. Her foot was also a little blue, at the end of our week long vacation, her foot still didn't look right. I took her to the ED and her little toe was broken and dislocated at the joint. Great nurse, I am, huh?

I'm glad your little guy is ok. My DD (20 months old) is the youngest of our four children and tries to keep up with her older three brothers. She fell and hit her head at Sea World. The people in the first aid clinic recommended stitches. My mother talked us out of it and we used a butterfly too. I have a feeling this is just one of many injuries she might have if she continues trying to keep up with the boys.

Poor little guy! Glad you were traveling with a doctor to make the fall a bit less traumatic for all. We had a falling incident at Disney years ago with our oldest ds when he was 4. He flipped himself over a railing face first and a pin back from the hat he was wearing caused a gash on his forehead..tons of blood! Disney was great, but ds did require 10 stitches. We tell ds to this day that his scar is shaped like Mickey...his own hidden Mickey :-)

And your boy is still rather young at not yet two...I think there is a huge difference coordination wise between a 20 month old and a 26 month old. I have seen a real difference in stability in those ages with all four of my kiddos (aged 2 to 12 currently). So I would encourage your dh's hope :-)
