WOW! He's a college freshman and he always wished he can work for Disney...so when the opportunity presented itself at his college....he signed right up. I'm so excited for him.

As you probably aware...he's my little baby....not anymore...but you know what I mean ;)

Anyway, he is really attached at the hip...and as many times I've detached him...he sneaks right up and re-attaches himself....so this seperation is going to be really good for him.

Now for the exciting part....I was planning my big vacation this spring with all the kids....now I don't have to spend on one whole airfare.....whew...what a savings!

Congratulations!

One thing I advise, and I could be wrong in reading your post, but I did see many College Program CMs (my first roommate included) leave the college program because they had never left home before and were extremely attached to their parents. Those long, demanding hours coupled by not knowing anyone and being far from the family in a different place can really wear on a person who has never been in a similar environment before.

That being said, everyone there is in the same boat, and it's a great experience! It's very easy to meet people at make friends.

If your son does have any problems, encourage him to the fullest to stay. I'm not saying he will, but it happened to my roommate, and I always wish she stuck it out longer and gave it more of a chance. We all have great and some hard times, but it's worth it in the end!

Congrats to him. What role did he get?

I totally agree!!!! The college program was a GREAT experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything. (I actual wish I was still there & now tend to make many random long week-end trips throughout the year) I also saw tons of people I met leave because they became homesick. Tell your song to enjoy it and make the best of it. It was the Best time of my life. I'm going back in 7 days for Food & Wine :cool1:

Oh yeah, I couldn't agree more. My CPs were the best times of my life. I made so many friends (a lot of whom I am still in contact with). There were times I wanted to leave, but I am so glad I stuck it out. And hopefully I will be going back down in March for P&P.

Thanks for the warm wishes.

I hope he doesn't get home sick, but I do plan to visit at least once or twice.

But I tell you, if he had a choice between me and the mouse....I'm sure he'd pick the mouse! :lmao: :lmao:

Congrats to your son! You sound very excited and proud!
My father was proud of me when i got accepted and told like everyone he knew!
I'm the baby of the family too, and I think my mom had the worst time. I never really left home before (i was a freshman and went home like every weekend), so it was an awakening for me too. I got really homesick the first month or so. I wanted to go back home because all of my friends missed me, and i didn't like that. But I am sooo happy that i stuck with it! I feel like i can be an independent person (which is a good feeling!), and i've learned to do things on my own. I didn't want to leave when my program was over. :sad1:
But the experience taught me so much, about the company and life. So i hope your son has as much success with his program, and learn a lot!

ps... my mother came down 3 times during my CP, which was only for 4 months!!
