I've been worried that he didn't get his package, but then I got this email today!
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Holland,
I don't really understand why you all sent me a care package ,but it is greatly appreciated. I shared alot of the items with my squad and they were happy to receive them. Especially the sunblock for those poor people who only burn. I noticed that you mentioned having a son or sons. My wife and I have two boys. One is 12yrs. old and the other is 19 and in the Army. What a terrific pair of boys. Well thankyou again and God Bless You Both.
Sincerely,
Terry L. Drake
I just sent him this response...
Dear Terry,
I'm so happy that you got the package. I sent it to show my support and to thank you. I have 2 children, my son is 17 and my daughter is almost 12. It's because of people like you and those who came before you that we have such freedoms and opportunities. You're making the world a better place for my children to grow up in. Please also thank the men and women in your squad. And please know that America is with you. I was only in Jr. High school when the war in Viet Nam ended, but I remember stories of how badly American citizens treated the returning soldiers. I want to play whatever small part I can to make amends and make sure that NEVER happens again. You're all heroes and deserve our gratitude and respect. That's why I sent the package.
I pray for your safety every day. I can't even imagine how frightened I'd be if my husband were in your place. Now that I know that you're married and have children, they'll also be in my thoughts and prayers.
Please, please, please let me know what you and your squad needs so I can send it in my next package. I'll be sure to enclose some extra sunblock. Are there any special snacks or treats that anyone has been longing for? I'm serious, please let me know. I'll be sending more packages and I'd much rather they contained what you need or want.
Face it, we may be closer in age that I thought, but you've still been adopted!
Keep safe!
