I drove to Lawton, OK on Thursday, we loaded up a friend's van on Friday, we saw Chris off on the bus Friday night, then drove to OKC. On Saturday, we drove from OKC to Colorado (14 hours with a 10.5 month old). It's normally at 9 hour drive, but you have to stop a lot with a little one in a car seat.

Chris has called and is in Kuwait. He flew to Maine, then Ireland, then Kuwait (about 26 hours in an airplane). He is not on a mission, so is just hanging out at Camp Arabjon (sp) until his first mission. He likes it there except for the fact that Kimmi and Ireland are not with him. He has a laptop and a phone card, so they will be able to communicate a lot.

I don't really know what Kimmi will do while she's here. Ireland is a handful, but Kimmi really needs to connect with people. She's thinking about an evening job at Starbucks. I think that's a good idea.

Please pray for them while Chris is away, could be a year. Kimmi is expecting the end of March, so we hope he'll get to come home for that.

Thanks, in advance, for your prayers and pd.

Hugs to everyone!! Ireland is such a sweetie...and did I see that Kimmi's expecting baby number 2??? Or did I imagine that? lol

They will all be in my thoughts...

Yes, baby #2 is due the end of March!

I was beginning to think there was no one on the Dis who would reply to this. It almost dropped to page 2 w/o a reply. I'm afraid I don't know many people now a days. Thanks for the reply, Brandie, I know I have one friend here!!!!

Sweetie...you have lots of friends on here!! They're just not posting at the moment...lol

Congrats on grandbaby number 2!! My sister's due with the first grandbaby in our family around Thanksgiving. A little girl! We're all pretty excited...this is already the world's most spoiled little girl...lol

Hang in there! Hopefully he'll be able to come home to see baby #2 arrive!

tc! I read that first as she was expecting him home in March then realized it meant she was expecting #2! Congratulations!!! Deployments are tough...it was tough when my BIL was away...I can't even imagine having my DH gone that long. Perhaps she could find a support group of other military moms/wives to join in your area?

Ireland is SUCH a little cutie. Tell her to get a job at a children's clothing store then she could get the discount on the clothes for the babies. I work at Gymboree part time and get 40% off and I think Children's Place offers a 30% discount! I love the discount, the extra money, AND the interaction with people (most people ;) ).

Mosmom, thanks. Yes, deployment is hard, but they are handling it remarkably well. Children's clothing is a great idea. We have a Gymboree here in town. I tell her about that, thanks!

:grouphug: To you and your family. I am so glad that Kimmi has you to help her out for the next year. I am sure that it will be a busy year!! It sounds like you will have Ireland back with you for a while. That will be such a special time for all of you.

Good luck to Kimmi with baby #2. Again, it will be great for you to be there to help her out with both kids when that time comes!!

I will keep Chris and all of you in my thoughs and prayers!!

Take care tc!!!

I am so happy to hear about baby number 2. I always enjoyed reading about all of you:) Wondered where you had been. Congratulations.

I worked at Gymboree for 7 years when I had my first two kids. Only a few hours a week (she could do more) for the awesome discount:)

Congrats on grandbaby #2! I am sure things will be fine for Chris~ Kimmi and Ireland will weather this well once they get home with you and settled in.

For a job...Children's Place and Gymboree are good ideas. If you have a Babies R Us near you, they carry toys and clothing, but I don't know their discount for employees.

And if the scheduling a job gets dicey, suggest to her that she look into direct sales. That's a great way to meet people and there are a lot of options too. If she's looking for something with a product that can benefit Ireland, I'd suggest Discovery Toys. Their products are geared for kids. But there are other options out there, too, if she wants a little more control of when and where she works.

Best of luck!

congrats on the next grandbaby!! i also read it at first as he was expected to come home in march..oops!!!!

Zulaya, She is looking into a direct sales job called Big, Yellow Box. My oldest daughter told her about it. I'm not sure what it is, exactly (something to do with kids crafts), but she's going to research it and see if it's for her.

TC - of course we care! I'm sorry that Kimmi's little family has to be apart during Chris' deployment - I'm sure they both miss him, especially with a new little one on the way. Ireland is beautiful - I'm sure you are so glad to get to spend some extra time with your girls. I've heard Kuwait is not too bad - I will keep them all in my prayers. Sorry to hear you were just through OKC, we've been out our town - otherwise we could have had our own little "DIS" meet!

rascalmom, a mini-meet would have been fun, but, to be honest, I really had no time. We arrived at the Biltmore right off the Interstate at 10:30 p.m., and were up and traveling by 9:00. Very short stay.

tc - we were out of town until late last night, but if you come back through (or will Chris be stationed elsewhere when he comes home?) - maybe we could do it it then. I can at least direct you to somewhere to stay or eat if you need something in OKC. Glad you had an "uneventful" trip - I remember traveling with little ones & it can be tough. When we moved here from Southern Cal, I think my dd thought the car seat was a torture device!

Thanks rascalmom, I'd love to hook up. We are really unsure as to where they'll be stationed when he returns. His 1st sargeant said they could remain in Lawton, but maybe Washington state, so I'll let you know next year at this time, k?

Sounds good. Washington State is beautiful - not that I don't love my home state, but Lawton doesn't hit the top of the list around here. Nice town, very supportive of the base, good schools - just not much to do or see, if ya know what I mean. My dh's family is from Washington State & we've visited there many times. So very pretty & lots to do. Good luck to all!

HI tc

I've been wondering about you and your family. It seems like yesterday when Ireland and Kimmie just moved out and you were dealing with that and now they are back with you right?

I'll keep your sil in my prayers. A good friend of mine lives across the street and she has a flag in her window for her son. Everytime I look at that I say a small prayer and I will also remember you sil and all troop members.

Keep us updated, you have friends here, sometimes I feel like I DIS all the time, then 2 weeks can go by because we get so busy.

I hate to hear that Chris has been deployed but I'm sure you're happy to have Kimmie and Ireland back with you guys. I hope all goes well and that the next year flys by for Kimmie and Chris.

Again, thanks for the good thoughts and prayers. I really think it takes a special kind of person to be able to take this kind of separation, and I think Kimmi and Chris are just those kind. I'll keep you posted on how they're doing.
