My DW and I decided to sell our DVC points. It was a hard decision, but we are trying to make a second home purchase in Manhattan. Our DVC mortgage and MF's on our 320 BLT points are costing us $575 per month. We listed out points for sale as 3 contracts which is how they were purchased. 100 pts, 60 pts, and 160 pts. My 60 point contract sold in 24 hours and my 100 point contract sold in less than 48 hours. We sold through the Timeshare Store which I highly recommend. My 160 pt contract sat for sale for several weeks with no bites. I am glad it did because we decided to keep that contract. All 3 contracts had August UY's. The moral of the story: Make your point purchases in as small of blocks as you can. If you are buying 200 points by 4 lots of 50. You never know if you may one day need to sell or just plain fall out of love with DVC. The smaller contracts are by far easier to sell than the larger ones. And for the record, the smaller contracts were priced higher than the larger contract and all 3 contracts had current year its available.

Good for you. Back when we sold most of our points, the small contracts (70 & 25) sold within hours for asking price.

You live in ohio by chance? We are in ROFR on a 100 point BLT with August UY. seller is in ohio.

Yeah, I have a 240, 160, and a 100 point contracts.....good thing I don't want to sell.

We sold a 50 pt BCV contract thru the Timeshare Store so fast that we wondered if we hadn't priced it high enough......

I agree with this..I'd seen that advice around before I bought and took it. I now have 6 contacts totaling 415 points, all at VGC, so I feel like that was a wise decision, since I can easily sell some points if need be, but still be a member.

I still don't get why 25 point contracts are so desirable. I have all my points in 100 point contracts as that seems like a reasonable number to balance price and ability to book rooms. With VGF 25 points don't go very far.

Okay, I'll use myself. I purchased 160 @ BLT. Both myself and wife are in education meaning our vacations are pretty set. I can get a week in Lake View or Standard view during the summer. If we ever wanted to go down during Christmas or Easter (which is when my Spring Break is) for a full week we don't have enough points. I'll need another 23 to try go get a Standard room during either of those weeks. A 25 point add-on would be great.

Say we really want to go down every other year during Columbus Day weekend (that's when we got married and we both have off). If we've already done a week in BLT, we probably can't.

Get those 25 points and we can. Heck, get a 25 pointer at either BCV or BWV and now we can go down & stay closer to EPCOT to enjoy F&W that weekend. It's essentially a way of getting Home Resort Priority for a weekend or few days every year. We've looked into this one actually, but with having our first kid on the way, it's not a priority right now.

I'm sure there are other reasons, but I believe this may help answer your question.

Agree totally. We bought a bigger chunk (210) with our original purchase but when we added on I learned from these forums smaller contracts were harder to find/buy resale. So I bought two 50 point contracts (100 total).

Glad it worked that you could keep a piece of the magic!
