Ok this is the 3rd time I've done Sci-fi. I have to say this place has gone down hill. I was hesitant with this adr because I know the food was just "ok"... But I kept the adr cause my daughter loved the idea of eating in the car & didn't remember her last visit cause she was a tot. I order Steak (tasted like ground up hamburger meat, hard enough to toss across the room if I need to break the window to get free from a fire.) Hubby got the burger, same thing hard as a rock, I can't remember what my kids got but they hated it & filled up on their chocolate shake.
This is a Never Again place for us. The atmosphere is a great & cute idea, especially if it's your 1st visit & this sort of thing appeals to you, but be prepared the food is eh to horrible, depending on when you go. Waste of table service credit if your on the ddp in my opinion. :scared:

Wow we just got back yesterday from our 10 day trip to WDW and we also were a little hesitant in booking an ADR for basically "a hamburger joint". I had read on here that the regular food is just eh but that the signature dishes like the burgers were good.

We all ordered the "all American Picnic Burger". It was INCREDIBLE! One of our favorites all of our trip. It was a juicy burger with saurkraut sautéed onions, and a butterflied hotdog on top. Between this burger, fries, and a milkshake we were stuffed and definitely pleasantly surprised.

If u go there expecting this to be a hamburger joint and embrace that fact. I think you will like Sci-Fi. Great atmosphere

We ate there for the first time on September 8, 2013.
We were actually impressed with the build your own burger. The burger was one of the best we have had in awhile, and the fries were great but they don't give you enough of them LOL

The only two things we would thumbs down on is just how dark the place is... it was very hard to read the menu. I understand that with the movie viewing it needs to be somewhat dark, but I don't think it needs to be that dark.

And the service. The service was terrible. We were looking for our waiter more than not. He was rarely to be seen and when he was he was standing at the back talking to another waiter. We had to ask another waiter for refills and mustard. We waited forever for a few straws.

The waiter a few tables over though was great with his people. He even brought them drinks to go without them asking for them. So it's not the place in general just the guy we got stuck with.

And we're a part of 10 which means they auto gratuity you.

I doubt we go back. Overall I'd prefer to grab a $10 burger elsewhere than their $16.99 burger ;)

We have an ADR here for our upcoming trip because we think our grandson (8) will enjoy the atmosphere. He is a very picky eater though and may not like anything besides french fries and a milkshake. It would help if hot dogs are available. Does anyone remember if you can order one without it being part of the All American Picnic Burger?

Yeah, Sci-Fi is cool. Def a must do. However.....once you've done it, the novelty should wear off! We did it 2x and the food was marginal, which is odd for Disney.

I had ribs the first time and they weren't good. The next time I got a burger and it was decent. My wife however got some type of pasta that was sooooo greasy. I'm not picky but I tasted it and it was too much oil for even me.

The ambiance is cool, so I won't knock it for that. And I do have to say that we loved their milkshakes. When I say we, I mean my wife and daughters!

We've found that as long as you stay away from the fancier stuff on the menu, it is pretty good. I enjoy the burgers there enough to justify the ambiance. I agree that it isn't a great dining plan value, but since we always go over on credits, this is one that we pay out of pocket.

There is a hot dog listed on the kids menu.(according to the Allears site.) :)

Sorry your experience was unsatisfactory and did not meet your expectations.

We have dined at Sci-Fi for 10 years now and we eat the same thing over and over. DD gets the Burger and Milk Shake, I get the Ruben.

If you do decide to give it another try, ask for Sarah the server from England. She will make your dining experience one to remember. :thumbsup2

We went last December. I got the picnic burger and thought it was GROSS!! However, everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meal. My youngest DS got the pasta dish with shrimp. He couldn't eat it all and passed his plate to me when he was done. OMG....the next time we go back, that's what I will get! That was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. If you decide to go back ever, give that a try.

We ate there last week, Wednesday I think, and all enjoyed our meal. We stuck to burgers, onion rings, and milkshakes and everyone was very happy. We've been there a few times before and we'll definitely be going back again!

I'm on the same category as the OP - would never go again for a full meal. The second worst meal of our trip for me. Rude service, greasy and cold food. Ugh. :sad2:

The only redeeming qualities were the fabulous theming and shakes / desserts - had the turtle cheesecake which was delicious. Would consider it again but only for dessert. We weren't expecting much, but it was below even our moderately placed expectations.

I couldnt have said it any better! :thumbsup2

Our experience was pretty awesome as well! I had the Picnic Burger. OMG it was devine! I absolutely loved it! I also had the cookies & cream shake. Dear heavens, it was the best thing ever! :cloud9: I dont know why I havent order the cookies & cream shake before!

We come here every trip and just love the atmosphere. The bonus is that its cool and quiet too. ;)

As stated, this is a great burger joint. If you come here expecting anything more, then you might be disapointed.

With the Sci-Fi, I've found in my experience you basically have to stick to burgers or simple sandwich's. The food won't wow you, but it's also generally okay enough that you can get through the meal.

Once you start trying the fancier options though, you've doomed yourself. :(

Sorry that you had an icky meal, OP. Personally, I can do without this place- I stick to burgers, but I find myself thinking 'you know, I could go to Steak and Shake for a better burger and a milkshake at what percent of this price?!'- but my mother, for some reason I cannot fathom, loves this place. So we end up going every few visits. Bleh.
