We just got back from the Sunterra Polynesian Isles. We had it for a week but only stayed about 4 nights. I had booked a Disney resort as well just in case we didn't like the condo. I thought I would post some info because I know a lot of people haven't stayed here. We had only paid $222 thru Skyauction and we were very impressed. It was our first time staying off Disney and in a condo and we definitely loved it. It was also our first time using Skyauction. It was a 2 BR. One bedroom had a king bed and the other had 2 twin beds. There were also 2 bathrooms. One had a jacuzzi tub and was a huge bathroom. The dining room table was beautifully set. We don't cook on vacation though so we didn't use it!!!! It is kind of a quiet resort. No snack bars or drink bars. I really miss that because as I said we don't like to cook or eat in on vacation so I did miss being able to walk to get a snack or drink. There was a playground and a basketball court that we used one day. We didn't use the pools but we did use the hot tubs a couple of times. We were there on Halloween but we didn't participate in the trick or treating. My husband also used the computers that they had to check his email. It was $5 a day(only did it one day) We never did get to check out the fitness center. We were called in the room a couple of times for the timeshare presentation. We aren't good at saying no so I kept telling her that I would think about it. They also asked us about it after we checked in. Next time I will know not to answer the phone!!! We had a rental car which I think you would definitely need if you stayed here. It was very quiet and we didn't see anybody at the pools or playground so it is definitely a relaxing place to stay. There was also a screened in balcony to sit and relax at night. There is a washer and dryer outside the unit(has to be shared with the unit next door) We were on the 3rd floor but it wasn't too bad of a walk!!! Well, I guess that is all for now!!!!

P.S. I think we may try Vistana next year though(even though we loved the PI) just because we like the restaurants, bar, and more resort activities. So, I am sure I will be asking lots of questions about Vistana later on!!!

Thanks,
Kim

Kim, thank you so much for the review. I'm glad you guys had a good stay.

I was a little worried when you said you only stayed for 4 nights. I thought something major went wrong. Glad it didn't.

PI is one of those resorts that I have on my list as a decent place that I would be happy with in case I didn't get Vistana or CPGV. It looks like it will stay on my list. :) It's hard to beat for $222 or even $270 for a week.

You said you were on the third floor. Do they have elevators? Did you ask for a lower floor?

Welcome Home and thanks again for the review! :wave2:

Hi. Yes, we definitely had a great stay. We were just worried using Skyauction for the first time so we didn't want to be there for 7 nights if we didn't like it so we booked a Disney resort for a few nights. We definitely wish we didn't after we saw how nice the 2BR was. We actually didn't check out at PI until the 7th day though. We did go back and forth from the Disney resort to PI some days and relaxed and did laundry, ordered Papa John's one night. We figured that we still had it for the 7 nights so we didn't want to waste it!!!
We didn't ask for a certain floor and they don't have any elevators. I knew ahead of time that it was only 3 floors so I figured it couldn't be too bad. I can't wait to use Skyauction again. It was really great!!!

Thanks,
Kim

did you have to share your washer dryer with another unit ( when staying in the 2 bedroom )?

if so, where was it located?

were you placed in one of the newer units or older units.???

The washer and dryer had to be shared with the other unit on my floor. It was outside the front door between both units. I am not sure if I was in a newer unit. Everything seemed new and really, really clean. It was in building 9. Any idea if it was old or new?

thanks,
kim

according to the front desk at polynesian isles, the "newer" units have the shared washer/dryer concept and the older units have the washer/dryer inside

the newer units are suppost to have the jacuzzi in them also....

the resort is funny when you look at the floor plans, the 1 bedroom has 1200 sq ft and the 2 bedroom has 1400 sq ft....probably why the kitchen in the 2 bd seems smaller in the plan...but the 2 bd does seem to have the jacuzzi

also, on the floor plans i was able to find, they show both the 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom as having washer/dryer within the unit

did they ask you to do the "presentation" and if so were they gifting you nicely???

Thank you for the review. It's always great to hear about new places.

We just returned from staying here Nov5-12. We stayed in a 2bdrm unit in bldg 10 - it didn't seem overly new but was very nice. The washer dryer was right outside our door and was shared with the adjacent suite. The tub in the master bathroom was a jacuzzi tub - the 2nd bath also had a regular tub and shower. The pool was also very nice.

Our 2nd week was spent at the liki tiki village - so by contrast the polynesian was a quiter, older resort but we had no real complaints. We found it to be centrally located with a wide variety of shopping (Wal-Mart) and eating places near by.

The time share presentation was a breakfast at another Sunterra property near-by (can't remember the name). It took longer to get through than we had planned - we had no plans on buying right from the start. The kids were supervised in a game room and were tired of waiting for us to pick them up. However, our gift was a free ticket to universal studios which we eventually got. We also were given small discounts on the remaining Universal tickets we had to purchase for our family.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.
