I've read other postings on resales which helped me understand the process so here is how it worked out for me.

Nov 28th (Friday) - After about 4 months of contemplating a purchase, we made the decision to purchase a 200 point BWV resale. We had taken the DVC tour at SSR of the AKV rooms in August during a stay at the BWI. This was probably our 6th trip in 10 years. I found the contract I wanted on **********.com, put in a call and spoke to Jaki Apetz so the wheels were in motion. I made an offer which she went back to the seller with. A short while later she called me back that the offer had been accepted. She sent me a copy of the seller's points and a copy of the contract which I signed and faxed back. The seller did the same so that evening she faxed it off to Disney for ROFR. All of this had been communicated to me via e-mails starting at around 1pm through 10:30 pm. The next day I put in a $1000 deposit check to the title company.

Dec 4th (Thursday) - Received the call from Jaki that the offer passed Disney's ROFR. Was told the title search would have to be done, points verification on the contract with Diseny, etc.

Dec 12th (Friday) - Received all of the closing documents from the title company

Dec 15th (Monday) - Went to the bank got a cashiers check and sent it with the signed documents via priority mail.

Dec 17th (Weds) - Check received by title company

Dec 23rd (Tues) - At 6:30 pm received an e-mail from Jaki that we had closed along with instructions. Now it was up to Disney to get the contract into their system along with the points so I could book a vacation. I was particularly anxious because the contract had all 2007 points that had been banked in 2008 and had to be used by Jan 31st or they would be lost. Originally I did not care about them but then we talked ourselves into using them.

Jan 2nd (Friday) - after calling just about every day since the contract closed I found out we were in the Disney system and I asked for my membership number.

Jan 7th (Weds) - kept calling each day again and around 3:00 pm after finding out we were still not in the system I explained to member services that I was going to lose points if Disney did not get these in the system very soon. I was concerned there would not be many rooms available which was the case. Anyway, she put me on hold for a few minutes, came back and told me they would have my points in the system in 5 minutes. Put on hold again and a short while later my points were in the system. Getting rooms on such short notice was very difficult but I was able to piece together a 4 night trip from 1/21-25th which consisted of a split stay. First two nights in a 1 br at SSR and the last two at a 2 br OKW. We would have preferred one resort with these two being the last resorts but we were just happy to get anything and this gives us the opportunity to try out both of these resorts. I also booked a week in August at my home resort, BWV

Jan 9th (Friday) - received in the mail the DVC vacation planner along with some other documents.

Overall I was very pleased with the way my resale was handled by Jaki Apetz and would recommend her. I think they tried to push this along as best they could and overall this process was fairly quick.
Hopefully the NJ weather cooperates so in 12 days I can make it down to Disney.

I'm glad you are happy with your purchase! How exciting to be closed. By the way, we are BWV neighbors. :thumbsup2 I hope you enjoy your trip in a couple of weeks - how fun to already have one on the books.

:welcome: HOME!!!

I think it went well, especially given the holidays in between!
Congrats! Enjoy!

Thanks very much!! I agree. With the holidays and I'm sure vacations being taken by Disney workers it went fairly quickly. I'm not sure what you call the people who take the reservations but the one who ultimately helped to get my points in the system (Cheryl) was fantastic. If anyone knows where I can send an e-mail to send praise, please let me know.

I think the key to having a timely resale is to have a seller that is anxious to get their money. Mine must have sent back the signed contracts immediately. They should make it so the seller has 48 hours to get back their signed documents.

party: :welcome: HOME!!!! party:

Glad it went well & you've got your reservations set up for this month :thumbsup2

Enjoy your DVC adventures to come pixiedust:

I agree - our seller was quick which made our process quick! It is nice to have a speedy seller! :goodvibes

Just curious, did you get your membership card with your other documents? I just got in the system today, and was wondering how long it would be until I got my card and docs.

thanks

Drew

No card yet. I have read on the boards it takes a few weeks to arrive. For me to get the planner it took about a week from the time I was in the system. If you have your membership number you should be able to log into dvcmember.com to at least see all the information about DVC. You won't see your points until they have been input. To log on it requires a code they say will be mailed to you but I got the code by calling member services. Just tell them you want to log on to the website and they should be able to help you. Good luck and Congrats!

Welcome Home, neighbor! We also have BWV as our "home". We're considering add-on #3 now. All other purchases have been through Disney. If it isn't too nosy, could you please tell me what your per point purchase price was?

I paid $80 pp for a contract that was fully loaded - 200 '07 points banked into '08, 200 '08 points banked into '09 and all 200 '09 points. Check out this thread if you want to see what contracts for all resorts have been going for. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1960185
The smaller contracts seem to go for more and stripped contracts less. If you are in no rush to add on, I would be patient looking for the right resale rather than paying Disney $104 pp but that's just my humble opinion. Not sure if Disney charges closing costs so maybe that is a difference. I think my closing costs were around $575.

And I guess to make it official today, Jan 20th, I received our membership cards in the mail. Perfect timing since we leave for our trip tomorrow and this saves me the trouble of having to stop at the sales office to get temporary cards!! Wish it was going to be a little warmer but it beats 18 degrees!
