Spent solo 4 days at WDW last week and thought I'd share my food and drink choices for those who are interested in such things. As you will see, when traveling solo I tend to eat very little and very quickly - I save the "luxury meals" for when I travel with the hubby.
Wed 3/2 - arrived at WDW around 10:30 a.m.
Snack - Bottle of water from Kona Cafe Coffee bar ($2 plus tax)
Lunch at Cosmic Ray's or how to make the "healthy" kids meal unhealthy. Kid's meal chicken nuggets substituting the grapes and applesauce with french fries, chocolate chip cookie and chocolate milk $5.32
Used to be able to get chocolate pudding as a substitute, but no longer, and yes, I added cheese from the fixins' bar to my fries. Sat outside with a nice view of the castle. The outdoor chairs make horrendous noise when being moved about!
Snack - Orange and Vanilla Dole Whip Soft Serve Swirl from Aloha Isle in Adventureland. ($3.19 + tax). Should have gotten the pineapple float instead!
Dinner at the Rose and Crown Pub- A Stella Artois Draft ($8.52 + tip) and Fish and Chips ($8.73) from the outdoor cart. For some reason they were sending us out to the cart to get the fish and chips instead of serving them from the pub menu inside the pub. Price is the same either way. Had a very nice visit with Carol (the Hat lady).
Snack from the Karamell-Küche in Germany - Dark chocolate covered caramel ($4.21) Absolutely sinfully delicious. This is the new Werther's caramel shop in Germany. Apparently, Werther's shot a commercial at the German pavillion when this was still the Glass shop, and decided that they liked the location so much that they would open a store. Everything looked great. Wish I had tried a few more items. Here's a link to the story behind the store: http://attractionsmagazine.com/blog...the-grand-opening-of-karamell-kuche-at-epcot/
Thursday 3/3
Breakfast - a granola bar brought from home and a coffee from the Tea Cart in Asia at the Animal Kingdom. ($3.51)
Lunch - Flame Tree Barbecue. After much internal discussion (ribs, half chicken or pork sandwich), the pork sandwich won out. Comes with baked beans and I got a small soda. ($11.59). Thought this was a very good pork barbecue sandwich and was happy that they have extra sauce at the condiment tables as well. Sat by the river listening to the screams from Expedition Everest.
Dinner - Tune In Lounge (the bar in the 50's Prime Time Cafe) at MGM (I know, Hollywood Studios - so much easier to say MGM!). Had the Caesar Salad with Chicken and Yuengling draft ($24.23 - I think that included the tip!). The Caesar Salad with Chicken is not on the dinner menu, but when I asked the bartender about it, he said they could make it for me. Love that can-do Disney spirit! Makes a perfect dinner for me and as usual, I met some off duty CMs hanging out and had some good conversation.
Snack - Carrot Cake Cookie from the Sweet Shop on Sunset Blvd. ($3.68). The sweet shop has a few offerings that are made at the Brown Derby and are not available anywhere else in the world. The Carrot Cake Cookie is one of these. It is two round pieces of carrot cake with cream cheese frosting in between. Absolutely delicious.
Snack (kind of) - Apparently I bought a bottle of chocolate milk upon my return to All Star Movies after my evening at DHS. ($2.35).
Friday 3/4
Breakfast - Another bar type thing from home and coffee from Joffrey's at the entrance to Epcot. A good pick me up before the mad dash to Soarin'
Lunch - La Cantina de San Angel. Tacos de Pollo and a soda. Not my favorite meal. The chicken was good, but I don't particularly care for soft corn tortillas (would have preferred flour). And the tacos are pretty plain - you do get very good fresh pico de gallo, but no cheese, no lettuce, no sour cream, etc. I guess I could have asked for some (doh!). The chips that came with it were quite good. They only sell one size of soda and it is HUGE. I tried to get chocolate milk, but they were all out! At the condiment stand they have salsa verde and another hot salsa. I liked the salsa verde. Saw a lot of people eating the nachos which looked very good.
Snack - A Stella Artois draft at the Rose and Crown Pub (just can't stay away from that place). Met two nice young ladies from London on their first visit to WDW. They said the pub was a fairly good recreation of a London pub except that it didn't smell bad!
Dinner - La Cantina de San Angel. (No, I didn't spend all day at Epcot - I was there from rope drop until 3 and then took a brief break at the hotel and then went to MK to watch Wishes before returning to Epcot for EMH - long day). Had the kid's meal Chicken Tenders. One of the only places that I can still find the chicken tenders for the kid's meal. At most places they have been replaced by the ubiquitous and nowhere near as tasty chicken nuggets. The kid's meal came with chips and a drink ($7.45). Enjoyed my meal while watching Illuminations.
Saturday 3/5
Breakfast - Guess I ran out of granola bars as I had a Cinnamon Roll and Coffee from Starring Rolls Cafe at Disney Hollywood Studios. ($5.40). Had a hard time deciding between the Cinnamon Roll or the Chocolate Croissant. The cinnamon roll was fresh and very tasty.
Lunch - A repeat at Flame Tree Barbecue except that I substituted cole slaw for the baked beans. ($11.59).
And that's it...nothing fancy, but nothing to complain about at all.
